  1. Morning 'papers are reporting that Tom is due in court tomorrow on a charge of assaulting his girlfriend.
  2. Yes. Path of least resistance, innit. You'll get a different outcome if all the pressure and the worst-case-scenario risk is coming from just one side of the interested parties.
  3. I don't remember that. No idea if I was at that game or not. But it reminds me a bit of Marvin Andrews cleaning out Steven Bell in equally brutal fashion on virtually the same spot of turf a couple of seasons earlier.
  4. The game in which Roary was sent off was against St Mirren, as I remember it. Think it was a cup game. I don't remember anything about the game beyond that - I don't remember VdK letting a passback roll in but I can't say for certain that it didn't happen in that game. Don't think I ever did get an answer to whether or not the suspension actually applied to Roary, the costume, or just the person inside it.
  5. Yeah, big step forward from anything of his that I've heard before.
  6. Dan's highlights these last few days seem to have been going through a phase when I remember nothing at all about the games except that I know I was at some of them. I'd done my best to blot Gerry Creaney out my mind, at least.
  7. The Phoebe Bridgers is as pleasantly dull as you'd expect it to be.
  8. Hardly a proper goal amongst them - we had the second last touch on four of them and the other two were free headers from set pieces. Would almost have been easier to take if they'd actually outplayed us. Still the heaviest defeat I've seen, the only tiny bit of relief being that they didn't get the seven they needed to make amends for '92.
  9. I remember my dad and I musing, only half in jest, on whether or not Holmes actually understood the offside law. That and his grabbing the badge after that goal at Firhill are about all I remember.
  10. Aha. Sorry, yes. I think I missed the 0-4 so I escaped that particular trauma.
  11. The thing I remember about that game, if it's the one I'm thinking of, is Clyde's tannoy announcer. At half-time, with Raith leading 1-0, he makes an announcement to the home fans to let them know what the travel arrangements would be for the replay, should there be one. To predictable derision from the Raith support. Second half they turned us over - 3-1 in the end was it? And as we're filing out feeling pretty sheepish and miserable the tannoy comes on again to inform everyone that we could ignore the earlier announcement about travel as no replay was required.
  12. Struggling to make out any of the names, but that's probably just as well. I think I'd disguise my signature too if I'd been part of that team.
  13. That was the only time I ever went to Brockville. I got there in good time but somehow got lost in Falkirk - eventually I spotted some folk in blue and white scarves so I quickly parked the car and followed them. Got there about one minute to three, couldn't find the away end so I just piled in the nearest turnstile and spent the ninety minutes being entertained by some choice insults about Fifers. Don't remember anything much about the game, except that I think Davie Sinclair was playing for Falkirk.
  14. I like the Joy Downer album a lot, pure pop music refreshingly free from the trappings and stylings of third-rate r&b.
  15. Yes he did or yes I'm wrong? I'd forgotten the third spell was only as a trialist, right enough. Maybe they discounted it for that.
  16. So Shaun Dennis, Laurie Ellis, John Baird and maybe Marvin Andrews are named as the only players to have had three playing spells at Raith. Am I wrong in thinking Jason Dair did so?
  17. Yeah, loads of optimism that day and we sang all afternoon. My memory is that Paul Harvey got our goal, but I'd not swear to it.
  18. Yeah there's some good stuff on Bella Union. Anyway, the new Deerhoof album is very good, if you like Deerhoof. (If you don't - and to be fair not many people do - you'll just think what the f**k is this?)
  19. I think if anyone were to suggest Raith had done any kind of double this season there would be some people in Falkirk whose heads are gonna explode.
  20. I was in a group of three that went up, one of them being an Aberdeen fan who joined us in the away section despite being a bit worried about being able to keep quiet any time Aberdeen scored.
  21. The furlough scheme is very broad brush and is widely open to abuse - I don't doubt that it's being abused widely in some industries in fashions far more egregious, but less public, than anything that might happen in football. That doesn't mean that there couldn't be any comeback, and if Dunfermline decide it's what they need to do to protect themselves then I guess it's what they need to do and I'm not going to criticise them for it. Myself, I'm not a lawyer but I have worked a bit in employment law. Not that that really helps because this legislation is, necessarily, untested. But I'd certainly be arguing that retaining players for furlough purposes is legitimate and within the spirit and intention of the scheme. The idea was to keep employees in employment, and you've got a very industry-specific situation here in which players are traditionally released - but many will then be signed up by someone else - within a specific time window. Since the latter part isn't happening and can't realistically happen at present, I'd say a strong case can be made to consider the situation across the industry as a whole rather than each club individually. But, to stress once again, I'm not lawyer and can't say how well that argument would fly.
  22. Just an off-chance, @DanElderRRFC - do you have anywhere the highlights of the 2009 2-0 win at East End that were originally posted on Raith's site? I know you've already got the Pars' highlights of the game on your channel, but it has a replay interruption which means it doesn't show Mcgurn's save to Casa's goal as a continuous piece of action; my recollection is that Raith's equivalent highlights did. Was just looking at a similar breakaway goal from someone else on twitter and would love to have been able to post that one in turn. But, no worries obviously, and keep up the great work.
  23. 3 and 4 are both great albums, and yet for some reason I've listened to very little else he's done.
  24. Always like watching that Ayr player who wheels away to celebrate his goal in that triple save. We should build a statue of him.
