  1. Any club making a financial profit in Scottish football's current economic climate should be applauded. Maybe our BoD should offer money advice to the likes of the SPFL, SFA, Sevco, etc....
  2. He's not allowed to have interests in two clubs - as per SPFL rules - yet he does. He simply doing what Brian Potter did in series two of Phoenix Nights : put someone else's name on the license, yet pull the strings from behind. Llambias and Leach are merely his Jerry the Saint.
  3. Sounds like Ashley will continue to keep the club on a financial dripfeed until he owns lock, stock, the whole flipping lot. As long as he controls the boardroom, ALL offers for the club will be rejected.
  4. On a mildly unrelated tangent, does anyone know why The Adams Family (formerly of Victoria Park, Dingwall) were at the game on Saturday? I'd presume - if they were looking to land another gig together - then they'd be at Palmerston looking at things from a Livi perspective rather than anything QoS-related.
  5. Talking of anniversaries, is it not about 20 years since we played Partizan Belgrade? All I can remember about that night was 1) the sub-zero temperature, 2) the rock-hard pitch that was borderline unplayable, and 3) we got our collective ar$e$ handed to us by a very useful-looking team.
  6. Retired wrestler Billy Two Rivers now runs a B&B on the outskirts of Kelso. Although generally acknowledged to be a welcoming and gracious host, it is alleged that BTR once evicted a gentleman from his premises by delivering an Atomic Knee Drop after the guest called into question the validity of a bout between Two Rivers and Mr Moto during the 1974 Stampede North American Heavyweight Championship.
  7. I was thinking along the same lines - NUFC are bound to have surplus squad players who would walk straight into a good SPFL Premiership starting XI. Ashley could try and copy the Watford/Udinese/Granada model, but do it in a way that keeps UEFA, the SFA and English FA onside. With Ashley's name not appearing to have anything 'official' to do with RIFC, this would be much easier to achieve.* (*- does anyone else think he got this idea from season two of Phoenix Nights, i.e. the club's burned down and Potter can't get a licence, so he gets Jerry 'The Saint' St Clair to be his fall guy. Just a thought...
  8. What a big tease King is. He flashes his knickers to the assembled masses, then runs off giggling and pointing to the "no touching" sign. Looks like himself and Ashley will have to wait until admin 2.0 before they can do their 'special' dance for the fans.
  9. Really hope not - I had already thought about taking that one in using the train via Lockerbie. Pretty sure there's not a later train back either.
  10. Dumfries: avian tragedy narrowly avoided. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-south-scotland-29661175
  11. Looks like Rowan Vine's been on the Weight Gain 4000.
  12. Slightly off topic: I see the RBFT is screening A Shot at Glory tonight. Not sure about the timing, what with a scheduled league fixture being on live telly and all that....
  13. Those were also my thoughts on leaving Palmerston on Saturday. I'd go 4-4-2 for the Raith game with Reilly and Baird up top - the rest is just a case of who's available and fit.
  14. Ostersunds FK, who play in the Swedish second tier. Yep, I wikied it... Their season ends in a month's time, so it would be a logical appointment for all concerned.
  15. Forge a link?? It was bridge-burning on a scale not seen since Genghis Khan decided to take a gap year. Robertson's OS blog was a train wreck. I know he meant well, but each instalment was a metaphoric square go against anyone who dared to question him. No wonder the current BoD are a little more reticent when it comes to issuing edicts from the top.
  16. http://www.thesouthernreporter.co.uk/news/local-headlines/police-arrest-man-with-socks-on-hands-1-3538070 Police arrest man with socks on handsIain McCallum, 30, of Bannerfield Drive, Selkirk, appeared from custody and admitted being found in the curtilage of a house near Darnick in circumstances it may be inferred he intended to commit theft, on September 5. At Selkirk Sheriff Court on Monday, Prosecutor Alasdair Fay told how McCallum was seen “hanging around, looking through domestic waste bins.” When he spotted police, the accused “legged it”. “He was wearing two pairs of socks, often done rather than carrying gloves,” added Mr Fay. McCallum also admitted stealing a charity box of sweets at Business Gateway, Ettrick Riverside, Selkirk, on July 26. Defence solicitor Ross Dow said his client had “re-established a drug addiction. Sentence was deferred until October 20 for reports and a DTTO assessment.
  17. No need to worry. I have it on good authority that he just popped into the Arena for a bacon buttie and a manicure.
  18. I'm also of the notion that Fowler should at least be given a chance to prove himself. He comes across as being a decent, level-headed guy, and we know from recent experience that young up-and-comers are a much better managerial bet than dark ages coaches like MacPherson. Pair JF with an older and more experienced #2 and off we go, say I.
  19. Today's Super Soaraway reports that a former incumbent at Palmerston is interested in doing the jobbie again....
  20. Looking back at some of the stuff that was said when McIntyre was appointed: maybe his departure shouldn't be viewed as too much of a shock. As for my own opinion, I'm a little disappointed he's left, as I was just beginning to warm to the bloke after his poor start last season. However, there's little you can do to stand in someone's way when a Premiership club comes calling, and there's no lack of available and attractive candidates to replace him. I just hope that, whoever the next incumbent will be, can take the club's solid foundations and move forward.
  21. I'm sure last night's result won't do too much to change this bloke's long term prospects...
