  1. Even if that were true you are assuming that Brabco will pass up a chance to claw back some of their investement -nothing is ever as it seems.
  2. Reports coming in that a Cluj centre back has a faulty brake light on his Skoda Octavia - I'd imagine that Celtic will be looking closely at this with a view to advising UEFA.
  3. ...and we might not yet be at the bottom of the barrel.
  4. If ever there was a fixture from Hell in the midst of this crisis then a home tie against St Mirren Colts must be pretty damn close. Eff all to gain and every chance of another humiliation. Attendance at this one may be strictly on an 'I was there basis' for future reference.
  5. Maybe this is really highlighting the central issue. Dumbarton FC no longer looks and feels like a professional football club, and this constant appeal to people who perhaps just want to pay their money and watch the game becomes like background noise. Like every other club in the league we have owners and we have a Board Of Directors - are they all operating on this volunteer basis ? Somehow I doubt it. So what is the problem and what is the solution ?
  6. Sadly Loy has turned out to be the worst investment in a striker since Gianlugi Lentini.
  7. Couldn't make it yesterday but thanks for the report. Only thing I'd say is that there is no 'we' until we have a signed squad, that looks like a Dumbarton XI that won yesterday and for all we know Joe McKee could sign for Airdrie tomorrow. Tuesday will be a big night and I'd expect that to be deal or no deal time - it will need to be LOL.
  8. Jill Stephenson is still very much alive and regularly pollutes the letters pages of The Herald with her spittle-flecked venom.
  9. It's a while since I've been on here but it's interesting to see the current formation is a circular firing squad.
  10. I've been looking back on this thread. There seems to be a feeling that those left on the bench would be changing games if only they started those games. Well, Mark Stewart started against Caley and was pretty meh, whilsy young Burt usually looks better as an impact sub than a starter. Wilson occasonially blows hot but mostly cold. Froxy is the one player with any sort of the unpredictable about him but he can also be anonymous. With the exception of Wardrop the loans have been crapiola. Maybee we had just better accept that we have had a pretty mediocre squad this season and it doesn't really matter how the pack is shuffled. If we manage to stay up we need a new pack.
  11. I wouldn't disagree but right now Brabco are probably focused on gaining planning approval. I would expect that any Boardroom changes would follow after that, and if Brabco have any sense they would do that right at the start of the push to relocate.
  12. There is no proof that anyone actually complained. There is a recent and consistent history at DFC of unsubstantiated statements being used to fit a chosen narrative.
  13. Looks like the 'Play For The Sons Day' could be taking on a whole new meaning LOL
  14. Has anyone seen our Chairman in attendance at a game recently ?
  15. The Old Firm thing has always been with us, but wall-to-wall TV and radio coverage of football has pandered wonderfully to the couch and pub potato type of fan. That is a much bigger issue for DFC, and I can think of a few individuals who describe themselves as Sons fans but no longer bother their arses to attend. It doesn't help of course that DFC is run on the basis of the Ten Commandments, ie 'Thou Shalt Not', whatever the fuck it is.
  16. Let me hazard a guess. The club management is not prepared to pay someone to be in attendance on the day to sell tickets.
  17. Think Davie Bowman in his prime...he'd be a belter of a signing for United.
  18. This is what happens when asset strippers take control - put in f*** all investment, wait for things to decay and then manipulate things to their financial advantage. The problem for Brabco is, they picked the wrong target for that last bit as they are about to discover.
  19. I'm trying to get my head round this grand plan for a new stadium when set against the day to day running of the club by well-meaning but ageing amateurs. Normally owners take some sort of passing interest in their investment but this seems to be a glaring exception. Does anyone know if Brabco has anyone on the Dumbarton FC board or if they are involved in anything on the football side ? Fecking weird if you ask me.
  20. Cool. These additional workers are going to need 200 houses, a homoeopathic surgery, The Duffle Coat Museum and an artisan bakery for sure.
  21. It's all kicking off..... http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree/item/b58822ce-8cdf-4b60-bb01-1302881a6036?intc_type=promo&intc_location=sport&intc_campaign=fanpower&intc_linkname=bbcthree_fac_article1
  22. In what looks increasingly like deliciously ironic timing, I understand that Brabco's plan for a new stadium on the Renton Road will be presented next month to the Planning Committee of WDC. The football side is going thro the mill, crowds are plummeting but it's heartening to know that the future is assured.
