Yeah, but still a much better option than going to the Lowland League for them.

Probably right. But where is that money coming from, is that B-team entry money? Can we be assured all B-teams would be in it for the long term?

The proposal sounds attractive in a 'we've had a crap season buffer' and we'll be bounce back up, but if not and your club ends up being the worst of the just 5 non-B teams, presumably you could get put into an even less attractive Lowland League than now with no payments, which seems a huge risk.

I'd think L2 clubs best interests would be making the leagues down from them more attractive to play in but...

The costs associated with running them rules out most clubs who will stick with U18/U20's.

Were the staffing and costs not really designed to try and limit the Premiership clubs who could afford them and it was surprising Hearts would do it.

I'm not sure the B teams have ever managed to meet all of the brief that the Lowland League promo document suggested when they were first proposed.

It sounds like the LL and HL boards did approve this in order to get one automatic promotion and a playoff for the loser at the end of season in games between their two champions. It remains to be seen if the clubs still get a vote to ratify at upcoming AGMs.

I think there is some sense in the LL/HL playoff winner going automatically up to League 2. I'd like to see L2 9th place enter a playoff similar to the other SPFL leagues with 2nd places in HL/LL and the loser of the champions playoff match. Think that would be a positive change.

It should however be matched by greater Lowland league relegation to south/east/west leagues.

    So based on this season.....

    Rangers B

    Celtic B

    Hearts B

    Aberdeen B (maybe?)

    Spartans

    University of Stirling

    Tranent Juniors

    East Kilbride

    Brechin City

    Buckie Thistle

    A 10 team league with 4 B-teams. That's a horrific league that deserves to be flushed. 😂

I hope Saints wouldn't ever be at this level but if I supported a team at risk of relegation from League 2 I'd prefer to head to the West Premier than that or the shambles of a league the Lowland is right now as well.

B Teams add nothing to the game bar keeping the kids in bloated youth set ups happy, when they could be getting game time at proper clubs. Spectator interest is hardly making it worthwhile.

I could just about stomach B teams in the lowland league if it came with more relation spots from the Lowland and promotion into L2 but I still think it screws well run clubs in lower tiers.

    *Bump*

The selection of fixtures for the post split fixtures are as boring, uninspired and predictable as expected.

Did Sky use their allocation of games this season? Does anyone have a break down of Sky games per ground?

I doubt they used anywhere near their allotted fixtures. The lack of bottom 6 games is dreadful and the top 6 ones are just standard Old Firm fair.

Apparently we haven't been on a live Sky away game since 2011!

We'll be fine. Our record against other bottom 6 teams is decent and we're on a good run of form at the minute with the most in form striker in the league.

St Johnstone won't finish bottom, but Utd seem to finally have clicked and if Killie can maintain their home form and finally start picking up points away from home as they did at the weekend, I could see them sliding to 11th but staying up via the playoffs again.

Motherwell are pretty much safe at 37 points given their goal difference. Kettlewell has done brilliantly as I really thought Motherwell looked in trouble at one point.

I can't see Ross County getting to 10th on current form, but St Johnstone's form is equally poor. That head to head will be crucial to whoever finishes bottom.

Was it the same pundits that all said Pittman's and Holt's red cards shouldn't have been given?

    We lost our appeals too.

Some professional pundits still subscribe to the 'but he got the ball' mantra. The heads gone some pundits are having over it is bizarre.

I'd say the Livi ones, particularly Pittman's were more debatable than Shinnie's. I get the debate on whether it merited an additional game but I was surprised when Aberdeen appealed the red card  in the first place.

It’s definitely the most competitive league in Scotland. Having watched us for most of my life in the 3rd and 4th tier the quality is definitely a decent step up from that level.

I think the major problem comes from having to play the same teams 4 times a season. We’re in our 4th season in a row now and I know exactly what to expect when we play teams that have been in the league for the same amount of time as us - Raith, Morton, Caley, Ayr etc. Making the leagues bigger could definitely improve this, and could get rid of the staleness of going to the same grounds twice a season - even 3 if you get a Champ team in a cup. For example I’ll be at Firhill for the 3rd time this year in a couple weeks.

I don't mind the 4 times a year too much depending on the teams actually. That said, having watched Gus Macpherson's St Mirren and Billy Reid's Clyde sides play four 0-0 draws one season it was a bit much.

As a Saints fan, I actually can't remember the last time we had a 'average' year in the Championship. We've either been battling relegation or going for promotion. Probably one of the mid-90s ones.

My favourite was when he first pumped at the final whistle when our playoff game v United went to penalties. They then went on to miss every single penalty.

That was brilliant. Beaton gave them everything that day too. Fist-pumping getting to penalties against 10 men was bad enough before managing to miss every penalty. 😂

Their keeper had a water bottle with every St Mirren player's preferred side. f**k knows how they managed that given I could hardly name some of the players Kearney brought in, never mind see them hitting penalties before.
