  1. It is one or two at this time of the season, which is what’s causing the problem - which was the overall point being made by that poster. My point was a more general observation in reply to the comment about the number of games.
  2. Given the pressures on completing fixtures before the split, it’s ridiculous that it wasn’t scheduled for last night. Sky had an empty schedule, so no issues there. Whereas next week they’re clashing with EFL games. The reason for it being next week is blindingly obvious.
  3. My view is that the number of games postponed is largely irrelevant, because there’s very little that can be done mid-season to rectify the problems.
  4. I might be reading too much into that wording, but it doesn’t say where they expect it to go ahead. There’s no outright denial that we’ve been discussing alternatives.
  5. That surely shouldn’t matter? At the point it was established they were visiting fans in the home end, they should have been removed. It was then on them to take it up with the tour company.
  6. It’ll be a minor miracle if this goes ahead. There’s barely a part of Dundee that doesn’t have standing water. There’s literally nowhere for it to go because the ground is so saturated. I’m not saying our pitch isn’t an issue, but we’re not being helped by the surrounding conditions. Plus the fact it seems to always rain before our home games, and be dry before our away games.
  7. That’s a lovely finish from Isak.
  8. No, there’s no lines. It’s eyeball only. We don’t have the full range of angles at non-televised games, which is why I said there were very few scenarios where VAR can make a determination. Live games are different because Sky use goal-line cameras. Early in the season, there was a lengthy VAR check to see if St Mirren should have had a third goal against us. Ultimately, VAR didn’t have the angles to overrule the on-field decision of no goal, so that stood. By the same token, VAR couldn’t conclusively say it wasn’t over the line either - so if a goal had been given, that too would have stood. Technically the referee always has the final decision - but in this situation (as with offside) he’s told the factual situation, from which he makes the decision.
  9. The referee wouldn’t be called to the monitor to check if the ball had crossed the line. In the very few scenarios where VAR can make that determination, it would be a matter of fact (like 99% of offsides), so no on-field review required.
  10. Apparently only “Rangers” have something to play for a week on Wednesday. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001y6ts
  11. I wonder why the photo half-way down this article doesn’t mention which fans were responsible for the pyro at Dens in November. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-tayside-central-68707052 It’s possibly also possibly the “media are against my club” effect, but in the context of the whole article the wording of the caption suggests it was home fans responsible.
  12. That’s a ridiculous corner and goal from Norwich.
  13. Saw the photos on Facebook. Just missed his eye. The Courier reporting that a 15-year-old boy has been arrested.
  14. Michael Stewart was so angry about the VAR shambles at McDiarmid yesterday that he forgot what side of the argument he was on.
  15. Punting Livingston v Celtic off the Main Event channel to make way for an hour of build-up to Liverpool v Brighton.
  16. The 3-0 loss to Gretna in the 2006 Scottish Cup semi-finals. I know they were being bankrolled and almost won the whole bloody thing, but we utterly shat the bed that day. We were so bad we'd have probably lost to a pre-Mileson Gretna.
  17. That is simultaneously the most tin pot and most hilarious thing ever in the SPFL.
  18. It's the same ref we had in the 3-3 against Motherwell at Fir Park just before Christmas, and I thought he had a very good game then. That was his Premiership debut and I did wonder about the power dynamic it created with a far more experienced referee on VAR (I can't recall who it was). Today certainly addressed that question, with him sticking to his original (correct) decision despite being asked to review it by the far more experienced Greg Aitken.
  19. Well, the vidiprinter was certainly a bit risqué.
  20. Just what we all wanted - in-vision Open All Mics. And you can watch it on iPlayer for 29 days after. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m001y9gd/open-all-mics-30032024
  21. Why on earth did that St Johnstone “goal” go to full VAR check, never mind an on-field review? It was as clear a foul as you’ll see. Well done to the referee for sticking to his guns. But it’s worrying that Greg Aitken thought the goal should be given.
  22. Knowing us we’ll lose to Motherwell and Aberdeen and beat Rangers.
  23. Disappointing lack of “whit’s the goalie daein” in this thread. Cameron still had a lot to do though. Some finish.
