The last time AJ went with a young squad at Palmerston things didn’t turn out so badly eh? I’m not saying I think we’ll do well, this season is about club survival and sustainability. But I do think this will be the most difficult season to predict with so many uncertainties. As I said before it’s a good idea to take things cautiously as this virus could easily take a turn for the worse. Indeed it already is. There is still EVERY chance there will be no crowds in stadiums this season.

Will away fans be allowed in stadia from September? I recall some things about that in the media over the last few months.

Now is the time to be financially cautious. Nobody has ANY idea what’s going to happen this season. Best case scenario, a vaccine comes and everything is back to normal with full crowds by December. Worst case scenario there is a massive second wave and the season gets cancelled/delayed again. If there is no furlough or very limited furlough second time around clubs that have over committed will go bust. Or ANYTHING in between.

This season is going to be the most unpredictable ever. Teams starting from scratch, huge variation in fitness and mentality of players due lockdown, big financial changes due covid. Availability of players different than usual. All of this will play a part. I’m not exactly saying we’re favourites to win the league by any stretch of the imagine but nobody knows what’s going to happen and that makes it quite exciting for me. The last Queens team I really loved was the one that Johnson built last time around, starting from youth. AndTo be honest, if we are going to struggle, I would rather see us struggle with a more home grown squad than a bunch ofjourneyman who don’t care about the club.

Despite my attendance being very uncertain for the entire season, bought my season ticket yesterday and set up my tanner fund direct debit. I would encourage anyone who has the means to do the same! Mon the South!

So the streaming next season will be more of a centrally ran thing rather than QOS? If this is the case perhaps there is hope that exiled fans like myself can watch live online all season? A system similar to ifollow in England? I hope and pray!

Absolutely no issue with me if we have to go part time for financial reasons. But if at all possible we should stay full time. Yes the complaints of the last couple of seasons are well justified but all it takes is one season getting your recruitment and tactics right and you could be in the top division. Livingston are perfect proof. Also if we go down to League 1 there is every chance you could romp it like we did last time. And I think most supporters really enjoyed that season. I would never want us to be relegated but it was starting to feel like we could almost do with a relegation to have a bit of a reset. If we were part time there is far more chance of being stuck down there.

If we have to have a split I like the 14 team splitting into 6/8 much better. I can’t see anything in the media regarding what they want to do with the championship exactly.

Is there much chance of the championship changing format?

I see a lot of chat about 14 team premier but what is the plan for championship? Are they going to cobble something together to keep Partick up?!

What is our budget next season?

Good appointment. He was able to build a team from scratch last time and the football should be much better. I feel sorry for Naysmith but he’s not capable to manage at this level yet. Great eye for a player, great training (supposedly,) but unable to convert that onto the pitch in a consistent manner.

Is either game live on telly?

Easy for folk who live in Scotland to say. It’s very easy to watch in the UK with a certain bit of software that has been discussed on here before. More importantly, how many loyal Queens fans have moved away from Scotland over the last 20 years and just lost interest eventually because it’s pretty much impossible to watch a game live. Are all of that “young team” on the terrace going to live in Dumfries or even Scotland for the rest of their lives? Keeping these kind of people connected with the club is a long term way of helping the club. Not just through a small fee for the stream, but through keeping interest, merchandising etc. when a young Queens fan goes to uni in 10-15 years from now, he/she may not have the cash or time to travel to games but they will expect to be able to pay a few quid and watch it on their phone. Then instead of losing their interest as happens currently, we keep them engaged with the club and they start to put money back in in the future. The clubs that are currently doing this at our level have in the region of 50-200 subscribers. Not gonna pay for another Stephen Dobbie. But what are the long term benefits of keeping these people engaged? As more fans become younger and more tech savvy the demand has to increase surely? When will the rules change to allow live UK streaming of a midweek game in Dundee? You may not have time to get there but you could watch it at home or in the Bazaar! It would be great for me if we were ahead of the game and got this set up now! But I appreciate there’s far more pressing issues and the stuff suggested in earlier posts is far more important. Maybe for clubs our size it’s more likely that there will be a deal signed by the SPFL for the whole championship and this is perhaps where guys like me should channel our energy. The smaller leagues in England have just done a similar deal.

Of course Twitter updates are good and should be encouraged but match details are already available from Sportsound “Open all Mics,” bbc and sky. we should be aiming higher and have a long term goal of providing video streams of matches for all exiled Doonhamers. As I have said before, I can now sit in My living room in Dubai with a beer and watch us live v Falkirk, Dunfermline and Partick. Are there any media students who are currently Queens fans?! I currently have a season ticket which barely gets used. I hope to be back in Scotland in the next 2-3 years and I hope I can perhaps get a live QOSTV going as a volunteer when I return.

There’s no doubt GN is gambling and I think he even said so himself. So far it’s paying off but it’s very early days! It’s almost certain that Forzell and Norman will play significant roles so initially we’ll need to hope that they do well. Avoid an injury crisis, and/or get one or two of the youngsters playing well and we could be onto something. Get to January in or around the playoffs and maybe the board will consider making a move/lone move or two to strengthen. But I think to have any chance we’ll need to have a blinder first quarter and then try to hold on as the season goes on...

Surely Hibee Jibee should have posted his list of attendances by now?!

Will need at least £5000 per journey for that. Unless you’re Falkirk or Dunfermline who will need £100k for a private jet!

A full time club has nothing to moan about full stop. It’s not unreasonable to expect a club of that level to make a journey of 4-600 miles occasionally. They’re actually lucky to get any money for it. How much do Queens get for travelling to Dingwall? Expecting a part time Highland league side to travel to the London area is a bit different imo because their relative budget/cash flow is so much smaller. Having said that, the money given should be more sufficient for them as part time footballers surely can’t expect to travel in the same “luxury” as full time pros. And as others have said you don’t actually have to stay in or even around London. Just coach in for the game itself from your out of city Travelodge.

The amount of money given to clubs for travelling definitely needs looked at but I’ve got to be honest and say that I’m getting a little sick of all the moaning about costs. Championship clubs complaining is ridiculous. I’m sorry but if you can afford to have a squad full of professional footballers you can afford to send them to England for the night. It’s a bit more understandable to hear grumbles from smaller clubs but on the same note, I’m sure it’s do-able on the money given by the SPFL with a few cost saving measures such as the ones suggested above and players sharing rooms etc. Opinions are split but it seems there is a fair share of fans that like the inclusion of the foreign teams, myself included. We should enjoy the positive fact that it’s something different and produces some fantastic away days! There are plenty of footballing nations far bigger geographically than Scotland/UK that have small teams who have to travel long distances occasionally, especially for cup competitions. Get over it. Colt teams on the other hand.... GTF
