  1. I was referring to the people on this thread who claim to have known the McCanns did it from the very start. The suggestion is nothing short of stupid.
  2. Sums up my feelings on this thread. The fact that some people on this board seem to be enjoying the McCanns being made suspects and the thought that they could be found to be guilty of their daughters murder is just beyond my understanding. It might have been them, but seriously, nobody knows what really happened to Madelaine. I also fail to understand the criticism of their prolonged stay in the Algarve. I can understand the criticism of their continual presence in the media, but their choice to remain in Portugal? Why should they return home and "get on with their lives?". Harsh thing to suggest they should do. I wonder how many people on here with children would just return home and get on with their lives, without their child.
  3. What do you do with it then? I see you have still nothing insightful to add to any conversation. Not having a pop, Rowan. Tablet is my favourite, but using your oven at 1:30am is a bit strange.
  4. He sounds like a man totally ruined by bitterness and anger.
  5. My friend is getting married next week, and I need a dress. I can't find one I like.
  6. Next August. I'm looking for full time employment until then. I thought that was obvious? I like an easy life, confrontation is too much hard work.
  7. No, a number of factors. I can't earn enough at Tesco anymore, despite a recent pay rise and moving into a higher wage bracket when I changed departments. There is a blanket overtime ban across the store and has been for almost two months now, meaning my last two wages have been bare minimum, which just isn't enough. It was fine when I could prop it up with overtime, but we're not getting any and it doesn't look to be changing any time soon. The move of departments was probably the biggest mistake I ever made. The job is ten times better than my previous one, but I rarely get to do it for a number of reasons - mainly due to this overtime ban. Checkouts don't have enough staff, and so I have to sit on one most days so that they meet their targets. Then there's the bitching - it's a small department mainly full of women and the bitching that goes on is just incredible. I hate confrontation, I don't go to work to get into arguments, or to have someone blame me for their mistakes.
  8. I'm trawling around looking for a new job. Too much bitching, back stabbing, confrontation and poor management in Tesco these days. I physically can't stand being there anymore.
  9. The day when Kilts IT department finally ban him from P and B can't come quick enough!
  10. Please, Gavin. I only want you for your money. It's my birthday, and you owe me a drink. Another girls birthday is next Saturday night which a few people will be going to, so we're thinking of just pushing mine to next week and going out all together, hopefully get the BBQ and bouncy castle on the go during the day if the weather is a bit better as well.
  11. Yeah, it was all cancelled. I had only bought a few bits and pieces for it, haven't bought any alcohol or food because I knew there'd be a chance it'd rain. Was going to buy it all this morning but it's been pouring all day. Supposed to be going out tonight although my auntie bought me the complete season three of CSI, and I like CSI.
  12. Does me being 20 now make you feel a little easier about the age gap? I figured I was a bit old for the old countdown now. No longer a teenager, it's a milestone when you think about it really. Sad to see those years go. Thank you. B) And thanks to the marvellous Craig G Telfer, who must've wished me a happy birthday about 4 times today!
  13. No, no, Adam, I was mocking Fudge, not saying it was your own fault! I've gone to sleep with the door unlocked many a time. It's a shame.
  14. *Puts on Fudge voice* Well, if you're stupid enough to keep £400 in your house and not plan well in advance for any potential robbery by placing this money into a bank account, you really have nobody to blame but yourself" *Puts off Fudge voice* Seriously, you left your door open and they just saw it as an invitation to walk in? We leave our doors open all of the time when we're in the house or in the garden. Some people are just wrong.
  15. Dad is growing lettuce and potatos in the garden this year. He's grown potatos a few times before. He used to grow them in stacked up tyres with compost from the garden centre, and they were really good but the last couple of years he's planted them in the ground and last year particularly they weren't great. I put that more down to the fact that he picked them all at once though, and so there was hundreds of them. They started to smell and our kitchen became a total infestation of flies. The lettuce have been hacked to bits by bugs. He thinks I'm eating them, he can think again.
  16. I remember one time, a couple of months ago, I was the only person on the photo lab, there were two people on the kiosk, and two on the customer service desk. One in front was -700, and this was at 8pm. I came back from my break, got told to go on a checkout. One of the managers went into the customer service desk and put both assistants on a till, and another manager went into the kiosk and put both assistants there on a till. I had thought about signing up for options in Tesco and moving into management, but I can't be doing with the stress. They're all stressed out, stressful people. Stress!
  17. No! They are more driven by it than ever. Only one store in the entire United Kingdom never fails one in front, because it's in such a small place that it doesn't have the customer base to actually fail. We regularly fail on any given day by hundreds of customers. At Christmas I imagine that extended into the thousands despite all 29 tills being constantly on. On any given day, I will go into work for a photo lab shift, and spend at least 1 hour on a checkout. On Thursday I sat on one for two hours, and one of the other girls was on one from 9am until 1pm. You can't say no to going on, and you can't close your checkout unless there's no queues/your shift is finishing/you're going for your break. One of the team leaders actually threw a fit at me when I came off a til (having sat on it for an hour, just to make up numbers, I served five customers) because she was now going to "get into trouble" because the till had been signed off. As I said, all of the new starts work weekends/nights and there's no over time, so we have to boost their numbers. All of the team leaders/managers are set ridiculous one in front targets by head office, and although we do pass it, we fail it just as often, and it's just silly to be honest. They all walk around stressed to the max with steam coming from their ears. They need to chill...
  18. There is currently an overtime ban in place in the store I work in, a store with takes in £1.5million per week. It's been in place for weeks now, with no sign of more hours being released (although Kodak have stated the photo lab will be released more hours to cope with summer demand, so that's good for me at least). Last week, a woman I work with had put her name in for a checkout shift only to come back in after her photo lab shift to find it'd been scored out of the book without anyone telling her. She was sent home. They have taken on a lot of new starts on checkouts, but it's all for weekends so the queues during the week are dealt with by staff from other departments (like myself ) which only means the work in our own departments doesn't get done, and our customers are left unhappy.
  19. Well, we all think you boffed him. So, clearly, your expectations were a little too high.
