Nothing in the SPFL will be as tinpot as Ipswich being presented with a trophy for finishing 2nd in the Championship.
Don't tell Hearts fans, they'll be wanting a third place trophy..

Someone seems to be seeking out my old posts mentioning a certain meat product enjoyed with pineapple and red dotting them.
"Heigh ho" said Anthony Rowley and also me.

Edinburgh City? Meadowbank stadium used to be acceptable enough. Now it’s an abomination.
Raith Rovers? You used to get pink jammy doughnuts but the catering is shite now

Banchory St Ternan 6-3 Forres Thistle, NRSJFA Championship. Att c. 25.
I've long wanted to come here and I love Deeside, so it was a wee bit disappointing to find the strath with a grey lid snapped on a few hundred feet up the hillsides. It's still a lovely spot, tight above the Dee and a good few miles east of the town. I also love teams named after saints, the more obscure the better.
The best thing about this game was that it seems it's never occurred to either side that midfielders are allowed to do some defending. It was end-to-end throughout and could have finished any score.
Before the match Banchory were only 4 points ahead of Forres having played a game more, so it was a surprise when the home side opened a 3 goal lead in the first 10 minutes. At that point you hope the losing side will either mount a comeback of have a heids gone, but it was Banchory that couldn't work out how to play it and Forres clawed it back to 3-2 on the stroke of half time. In the second half Banchory opened it to 4-2 and then midway through the half a double within a minute made it 6-2. Forres pulled one more back late but both sides had many chance. 8-5 would have been a fairer reflection.
Pick of the goals were the first, a Banchory player finding the ball at his feet and back to goal, cooly back-heeling it through the keeper's legs, and the last, a 25 yard free-kick wide left for Forres that curled and dipped into the postage stamp.
If you can't see the hills then the picturesque Falls of Feugh are near Banchory. You can see salmon leaping up them when it's the season for salmon to leap
I've been meaning to do a programme feature on clubs named after Saints as well...

Looks like the independents are the big winners so far.
A two finger salute to the main parties.
"Independents" in Scotland tended to be Tories in all but name.. but there could be a few good guys in there I suppose.

Count Binface (standing in the London Mayoral election) was interviewed on Radio 4 news this evening.
He sounded a bit like Bluebottle from the Goon Show
I'd vote for him...

That's the Boys' Brigade in HJ's pictures above I believe.
They had a meeting hall near by (might still be there, not sure). One of the Edinburgh City team who beat Hibs in the Scottish Cup in the 1930s had a BB connection, as did the illustrator Tom Curr who did cartoons of football games in the evening paper:

I have a feeling with the suitation arisen Edinburgh City or FC Edinburgh whatever they are called these days and their points deducted and relegation from Scottish league one would they save Stranrear, Clyde, Bonnyrigg and give Ek promotion which would throw in that scenario given the buckie thistle debate of not having bronze status you wouldn't bet on it but it's just been one those seasons where they save everyone given their suitation and their bleak future giving kids a game in league one.
I believe we've paid off the debts.
Just because you beat us 13-2 in 1937 doesn't mean you can ask for us to be thrown out the League. Now there are other
failed franchises beginning with Lclubs that you could have a pop at.2 -

Bump.
This week - Tuesday to be precise - marks 100yrs since Coldstream lifted the inaugural EOS League title:
They won 2-0 v Selkirk at Ettrick Park to pip Berwick Rangers by 1pt:
This was their season schedule... note they also played in no fewer than 7 cups - winning the EOS Consolation Cup, visiting Hampden in the Scottish Amateur Cup, plus reaching the Scottish Cup for the first time (posting Home Park's record 4,000 attendance v Armadale):
Where did Leith Amateurs play their games?

Tories unsurprisingly taking a pasting in the locals. Labour have done broadly well but slipped up in areas with higher Muslim populations. Modest gains for the Lib Dem’s and Greens as well as independents. Reform and George Galloway’s lot nowhere to be seen.
If the Greens get three times the council seats as Reform which party will get three times the coverage on the BBC?
Er.... Reform.

Spoiler1) Alex Miller
2) Rangers
That's why I've wondered about this "St Mirren Lie Down to Celtic" mythology
