A bit surprised it's happened this early on in the season but I'm not disappointed really. The Derek & George combo has had some serious deficiencies with squad cohesion for one. Just hope Uncle Roy is able to do better than in the past when it comes to new managers because the record isn't exactly inspiring.

Probably the best we could hope for, Hibs seem as lacklustre as we do from the little I've heard from the Championship.

While I understand why they didn't do it, we could always start negotiating with players earlier than the club actually does. One year contracts don't mean having to wait until May before starting to sort out the squad for the next year. The whole reason we hand to pay St Johnstone for our captain was because they started sorting out players for next season in January and we hadn't even begun talking to our captain. So some of that does lie with the club ultimately. Maybe if we'd started talking to Lawson or Vigurs in December or January before Motherwell came in they could have stayed another year. Maybe they both wanted out, that's fine, but as it is we don't even seem to put up a fight. Which inevitably leads to high player turnover, which means hopeless starts to the season every year, and ultimately one year we're not going to find guys to replace them in January the following year to save us from relegation. It's a very short-term view..

The problem isn't that Ketts was let go. We all get why it happened. It's sad because he's been a terrific player for us but as he isn't going to be fit for months and his contract is up it is understandable. But the idea that the club would not tells Kettlewell that they had decided not to keep is inherently believable. I'd certainly hope County would treat Kettlewell better than that, but it's not outwith the realms of possibility that he really did only find out in the paper. And that'd just not be on.

If they actually did just not tell him then it'd be a pretty appropriate dig though.

Look forward to more of your contributions about a team who finished 23 points ahead of yours the last time they were in the same division, and then 24 points the year before that. Not that you're wrong, I mean yeah, we're probably looking at a shite season this year based on what our squad looks like at this point. But just you wait until January when we sign half a dozen players who are actually good and fill needs. Just you wait.

About sums up my feelings with this slow start to the summer transfer season. Give us some wild rumours to get carried away with or something. ANYTHING.

Lets be fair, we only buy our only players from St Johnstone Because we're too cautious to actually tie players up before they start talking to other teams. I'm not sure that's great material to try winding folk up with.
