Bene and McKay at CB is reasonable. Relieved to see Mackie dropped. Spencer

The Ayrshire derby is unquestionably a bigger deal than any Fife Derby is.
Based on what data - media promotion?

Yes bigger.Parrots don't talk with intelligence, there's nothing bigger about the Ayrshire derby except the boasting. Apart from the Fife towns being bigger, the Ayrshire derby is a one sided affair with Ayr winning less than half the number of games Killie won, compared to Dunfermline Rovers where its not far off half and half.

There have already been 2 games shown from East End Park this season (including a Fife derby), so it couldn't be on TV. Even a much bigger game like the Ayrshire derby was only on TV for 2 out of the 4 matches this season for that very reason.Bigger? Kirkcaldy and Dunfermline have bigger populations than either Ayr or Kilmarnock. I'm talking from years of irritated observation that the Ayrshire derby is a darling fixture of the West coast media, especially the BBC ("you can be sure we'll cover every kick") "Scotland".

I don’t think that’s fair, I think there has been a very clear change in our style of play from Partick Thistle at home. We have went a lot more direct. We have still seen some nice passages of play in the opponents half but we aren’t seeing the same slow, patient build up play we did last season and for the first half of this season. How much of that was enforced by personnel available and how much was down to instruction and change of plan by McGlynn is obviously up for debate but with playing two up front we have definitely been trying to hit the strikers much quicker.
I agree that McGlynn has changed things, what I said is that I don't think he has found an effective way to counteract high pressing tactics. Some teams can take advantage and expose the weaknesses of high press, we've been unable to do so. I don't think there will be any doubt about how Dunfermline will approach this game, just as QOS did on Sunday, when we were on the back foot until we changed from the two up front.

Should be IMO (in my opinion).
Yes. If it had been the fond Ayrshire derby it would have been all over BBC Strathclyde.

I think the majority of us agree that most teams have decided the most effective way to play us is the hundred mile an hour high pressing game, and Dunfermline have done this in our previous three fixtures. What gets me is that McGlynn hasn't figured out a way to counter this tactic, other than to hope we can ride it out and hope opponents run out of steam later in the game.

Yes. Thinking isn't the same as being sure. What about that are you having trouble with?
Playing with the meaning of words to try to cover clear contradiction?

Yup, I think one thing will happen but wouldn’t be surprised if another thing happens.
You think Comrie won't play again but won't be surprised if he does....

I think that, barring injury or suspension, Todd will now be first choice right back and Comrie won't play again for Hughes. Hughes seems to have his favourites in this regard.
But then again, he did drop McCann, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Comrie starting tonight.

I would make Dunfermline favourites too; it takes us too long to get into games. I expect them to be like QOS were for the first hour until McGlynn changed it. But who knows, we might just click from the start or once.

....In the end, a somewhat tired Rovers struggle mightily, but somehow make it 2-2 at full time.
After the match on Sunday McGlynn said he wouldn't be giving the players the day off (yesterday) because of the importance of Wednesday's match, so he doesn't think that fatigue will be a factor - maybe if there had been extra time.

On the actual game it’s must win for us IMO to avoid bottom two but I think it will be low or no scoring draw.
It's more or less a must win for us both; a draw would give us a slim chance but would be almost certainly bottom two for you. i'm not optimistic, Dunfermline have learned like every other team in the league that we can't match high pressing high tempo tactics that give us no time on the ball. That said, if it's still even after an hour when the pace inevitably drops I think we'll win, just like Sunday.

I'm not worried about Williamson and Gullan being unavailable. I'd be worried if it were players like Matthews Stanton or Connolly

The fact Spencer is constantly an unused sub definitely points at him still being a good bit from full fitness.
Unfortunately doesn't look like we've shifted much tickets for this which is no doubt due to the final at the weekend.
Even if he was ready his lack of match fitness would rule him out of a game of this importance, unless he came on late if we were out of sight.
I'm not contributing to their coffers either this time, the townies didnt much bother to come to the games at Stark's.

McGlynn saying in his post match that injuries were still limiting his team selection for Wednesday, so I take from that there will be no Berra, maybe also referring to Spencer and possibly others.
