  1. Brown is out injured, and as much as i like Mcarthur i think he is to small for international rugby. Ford is the one player I would love to get dropped. Richie Gray needs to up the work rate, but again there is no one to replace him with. I would love to see Harley in the team, but Barclay's doing well at blind side. Im just hoping Taylor can deal with Roberts as Wales' whole game revolves around big lumps charging up the 10 / 12 chanel
  2. Granted we are still pish, but less pish than last year. I don't know why people suddenly thought we had become world betters after beating Japan, USA and the limping past the worst Samoa team in my lifetime before coming close against Australia, who having not checked but just guessing are probably the tier 1 team we have the best record against in the last 10 years or so. I would definitely say though that Saturday was a step up from last years preformances, just hoping we can do something this weekend against Wales
  3. We were never favourites to win and a 6 point loss is better than some of the drubbings we have taken in the past. If the ref had penalised Care for his blatant obstruction on Laidlaw at the first try Scotland win 9-8. To be fair I thought England played quite well and any team only giving away ONE scrum in the whole game has kept possession well. Scotland weren't at their best but there were positives to take, for once we kept the penalty count down, and we had chances to win, plenty to build on for next week against Wales, but we have to start picking up wins somewhere
  4. It wouldn't suprise me that Killie could be off and Irvine game on, I used to get the train from Glasgow to Ayr all the time and you could have inches off snow all the way down to Killwining then you cross the A78 and there's nothing.
  5. Probably a good move for Weir and for Russell as should ensure more game time for Scotlands 2 first choice Stand Offs. Will be interesting to see who Glasgow bring in as a replacement, whether its a young academy guy, or an oversea's experience pro.
  6. Swinsons cost Glasgow the game there, just no need for that
  7. I used to play for Carrick out of Maybole and some of the away trips were outstanding in the Glasgow and District League, Arran, Dunoon, Campbletown, Oban - what a mess some of those coach trips were!
  8. Can't beelive TNA have ran with the following for the World Title Series Finale
  9. Was going to go to Northampton as its relatively close to me but £35 ish for the cheapest ticket stopped that, I think I've been spoiled by wasps at 15
  10. Given is a bit strong it was him or price as Blair is out injured
  11. At the moment there is a play off for the bottom team, against a play off winner of HL & LL winners, if there were 3 feeders now then you could include the bottom club and have SF's and a Final for the place in the league. The problem with the pyramid is until the Juniors are on board (or told they are getting involved) you just have a HL in the north, and the LL, and EoS and SoS (although don't think they are official feeders as of yet) in the south which is probably the least pyramid like set up you could have. This would be the first step to get them involved before you start worrying about how many teams are in each division or what split in regions there is
  12. I think hart and Blair were due to share back up duties behind pyrgos and Glasgow have suffered with him being out injured as neither are a patch on matawalu but not many players are
  13. You could make the case that they are being looked after rather than disregarded. If you look at the much highlighted Annan vs Elgin game how much is it costing the clubs to travel to this away game twice a season? They could probably pay someones wages for 5 or 6 weeks with the cost of the bus alone! The premises is that for the clubs you reduce costs, that can be re-invested in the squad, hopefully crowds increase as the travelling distance is reduced you hopefully gain more away fans. But that needs to be balanced against reduced (perceived) quality of teams, potential loss of advertising if there isn't the nationwide exposure (although what exposure the sponsors get in league 2 is debatable) and the notion that your team might not be the same level as it was before (although in reality you would be moving from Level 4 to level 3) and you also have to put up with the Juniors and their local leagues for local people.
  14. Was thinking the same when I watched Ant man last week. I have to say I thought Ant man was a much better film than Age of Ultron
  15. With him and Russell signing long term deals it looks like the sru are making an effort to get the best young players tied down to playing in Scotland which is good to see
  16. I thought we might to begin with, but you have to factor in France and maybe England will have new coaches and Wales will have about 10 players back from injury. I think if we win 2 or 3 games it will be a good championship, but I wouldn't rule out us winning it, we have as good a chance as anyone
  17. I thought Australia had already capped him vs the US over the summer? It wouldn't suprise me if he was back in Super Rugby by the time the new season starts. The SRU wont want to be paying a big wage for someone who is never going to play for Scotland
  18. The main problem is tieing players down to one country, the current rules state you are only tie to a country if you have played for the senior team, or the next team under that. Some teams use the 'A' team to tie players in, others Under 19's, or the 7's team. Its the same in football where you have players playing for one country at youths then switching when they are older, however rugby is more prevalent as its the Unions that have the money and resources to go out and poach players to come over and play for 3 years to get them qualified. I dont think the SFA would have the ability to go out and sign up 4 or 5 brazilians or argentinians who weren't quite good enough to play for Brazil or Argentina, then tell Celtic or Rangers 'right you have these players for 3 years until they qualify for Scotland and you have to play them' There are quite a few Brazilians playing for a few countries now but thats more down to Club first, country 2nd.
  19. Was only offered a contract until end of October to begin with, and will be pretty much surplus to requirements when they come back
  20. Can't think of a bigger shock ever
  21. Granted but until there is an injury Hardy is pretty much havng to play every minute at openside with no recognised replacement is a big ask for what is (apart from Hooker and Scrum Half) one of the most important positions on the pitch. If he gets injured during the SA or Samoa games we are shafted as there wont be an openside to come on for him. eta dont think Tonks is good enough either, but gives an option to cover fullback and Stand Off, but Jackson would have been a better option
  22. Only suprise for me is Blair Cowan missing from the back row completely - i am assuming he is going to have either McInally or Vernon cover openside as he only has Hardie in there, and the other 4 can cover blind side and nos.8. Also think one of Jackson or Tonks would have been picked to give extra Full Back / stand off cover. I think the squads is ok except I would have gonr for Harley in for Swinson, Cowan for Strokosch and Jackson for Wilson
  23. Glasgow could have won, but neither team were taking the points from penalties and kicking for the corner instead, as they had most of the play in the second half apart from 5 minutes when Canada scored. Looked a very strong team from Canada as well, and considering all the players missing from Glasgow its looking good for the new season
  24. Im assuming there must be injuries to McInally (with Ford drafted into the bench) and either / both of Fife and Seymor with Scott on the bench
  25. I personally dont think it is, but apart from Seymor I can actually see any of that 25 being in Cotter's first choice Scotland side - therefore out of the 40 (ish) man squad this leaves the last 25. My first choice 15 would have be, Dickinson, Brown, Grant J Gray, R Gray, Harley, Strauss, Cowan, Cuister, Russell, Dunbar Bennett Seymour, Maitland, Hogg
