Everyone should read the piece on the Craig's list killer on the guardian website by Hannah rosin.
The best piece of journalism I've read in years.

Jason whiltlock has an incredible article up no espn.com about the dolphins situation and the wider Nfl culture.

The Incognito/Martin story is getting really bizarre!News over here running this morning that many Dolphins players (past & present) who know Incognito view him as an "honorary" and 100% not a racist. That voicemail is *apparently* incomplete and at the end Incognito asks Martin, in a casual manor, to call him back, which he did. He also played it in the locker room & had a laugh about it.Tannehill weighing in that Martin is like Incognito's "little brother".This is getting stranger by the day!
There are two really good articles on grantland about this today. One which collates a lot of the reaction from players and another which connects this to the spate of suicides by players and ex players.
Airing dirty linen in public seems to have pissed off a lot of players.

Everyone up for banning casinos then too? Same machines in there but with the added bonus of a bar and 24 hour licenses.
I've no idea why anyone would go to a casino to play a fixed odds machine. Also it's easier to either not join a casino or get yourself excluded from them than it is to get excluded from multiple bookies that are open all day to all.

Yes they may be bad but i bet half the people on this thread are the first ones to greet about living in a "nanny state" .What next ? Lets ban alcohol and cigarettes , how much money is wasted and how many lifes are ruined by those two ? Or the proposed "fat tax" everyones moaning about. To bet legally you have to be an adult ,if your willing to gamble crazy amounts of money on the spin of a wheel, computerized or not and you so happen to lose then thats just tough tittys.
There is already legislation restricting booze and fags despite them being widely available.
If you ban these machines people can still go to casinos or use virtual ones if they want to gamble. The difference with these machines is that it makes it too easy to go out for the papers and lose hundreds of pounds quickly.

What the bookies will come back with - with some justification - is that as long as online bookies are legal in the UK and can take very high stakes, what they have to offer isn't really any different.
The machines are designed to get people hooked though with the visuals and creating the false impression of near misses.

I went into a bookies at queen street one morning a few years ago to fire a coupon on before we got a train to Aberdeen at about 9-30 and there were guys sitting playing these machines at that time which shocked me.
Bookies are making a fortune these days but losing a fiver to spice up a midweek fixture list and firing your wage into one of these machines in an hour are very different things.

Are these guys playing the sport we love all complete arseholes?
Have you ever been to America?
There are plenty of decent people but 'jocks' are off the charts as far arseholeness goes.

I have completely ignored this thread. Just clicked on it and seen supras has 68 posts.

Probably not 90s but I liked a bit of the get up kids and rival schools back in the day.

Bad patter if they're suppressing anything that might bring out the truth.
It's all very strange.
The investigators didn't believe Jane tanner's sighting but the police claim the guy came forward. Either tanner has admitted lieing and the police are covering for her to avoid a scandal or they are calling her bluff.
The efit that is now being promoted as the prime suspect was supressed by the mccann's because it is clearly based on Gerry mccann after the Irish guy saw him on TV. Kate mccann didn't include it in her book so they can't be too happy all the focus is now on that picture.

The fact that the Mccanns hired former MI5 investigators suggests even more they couldn't be involved. There is just no way on this planet you would do this if you were guilty of something.
That depends on whether or not you can suppress the report if it doesn't suit you.

The Sunday times are sticking the boot in the mccanns today.
They are reporting that the mccanns suppressed a report by ex mi5 investigators that they hired which included the new efits. The report apparently questioned the credibility of the tapas 9 timeline.

I've read underworld, libra and white noise.Has anyone read anything by Don Delillo? I'm needing a new book, was thinking about one of his.
Underworld is incredible but it's about 900 pages so it will take a while. It's definitely worth it though as it includes some of the best passages of writing I've ever read. It begins with an amazing 50 page description of a baseball game that frank Sinatra and j Edgar Hoover are attending and has sme fictional Lenny Bruce routines about the Cuban missile crisis that are unbelievably good.
Libra is about lee Harvey Oswald and gives a fictional account if his life that contends he was set up by rouge CIA agents to kill JFK. I'd recommend you pick up this one.
White noise is hugely popular but I didn't really take to it. It's obviously supposed to be a satire of American universities and middle class family life in the 80s but I found I couldnn't get past how much I hates the characters.

Because Quintana, Nibali, etc will love the cobbles. Unnecessary greeting from Froome.
Nibali has balls of steel, a bumpy road isn't going to worry vicenzo.

Aye, but why would the press go out of their way to give the McCanns positive press - six years later? And what do the McCanns give in return?
Giving the mccann's positive press is all about acting nice to try and make it look as though they are capable of self regulation or desering of a light handed royal charter.

Might as well ask this again, since I didn't get an answer last time.
Why would the media do this?
In 2007 it was a great story and the public are very interested.
In 2013 they are on their best behaviour due to leveson

These people who keep repeating that children should never be left alone are demonstrably morons. It's utter nonsense.
There is a difference though between a kid walking to school where they know where they are going or going out to play when they know when to be back and where they can go and sneaking out when they are asleep.

it's alright, they're not your real mum and dad.
Good news.
I have always suspected I am the secret grandson of Marilyn Monroe and JFK.

I like how all these smart arsed fuckers are basically recycling the same old shite. All these "hilarious" examples are worlds apart from leaving 3 kids under the age of 5 in an unlocked hotel room while you eat and drink with your mates in a tapas bar out of sight and earshot of said hotel room.
Incidentally, if you walked home from school when you were 5, and you lived more than 5 seconds from the school, shame on your parents.
I'm not sticking up for the mcann's, going out on the piss and leaving the kids alone in bed is bad parenting.
It's just funny how things have changed regarding watching kids. I lived around a kilometre from primary school and walking home didn't seem that big a deal, I crossed one not very busy road with a lollipop lady and one quiet road myself.
At what age is it ok to leave kids unsupervised now?

I used to walk home from school myself when I was five.
My parents must have been rubbish.

Fair enough - what do you suggest might happen then? Do you think they killed her before dinner then went down there all calm like nothing had happened then acted the rest of it out ?
I don't know, it was obviously either part of their group or a predator who committed the perfect crime. It is likely we will never know. Considering the wee girl who was killed then stashed in her grans loft right in the middle of a police investigation last year I don't think it's impossible that she was killed by either one or both parents and then moved several times later. It is more likely that a child will be killed by their parents than anyone else.
I am more interested in the inconsistencies and strange reporting of the two sightings which has went on this week. It is clear neither the media nor the police are being honest about the case.

Stories get changed - people were saying it was suspicious that the Macanns changed the time they went to dinner from 830 to 9 o clock do you think that matters in the slightest? Its very hard to remember what you were doing on a certain day and what time you were doing it so stories are bound to change.
Fact is that Maddie was there during the day and someone had gone to check on the kids that wasn't Kate or Gerry whilst Kate and Gerry were at dinner. Then half an hour later (give or take) Kate went up to discover Maddie was gone.
Now for them to be guilty in any way they would need to be incredibly quick would they not? It was moments after Kate left the tapas when she left the alarm so what can you suggest happened if you think Kate and Gerry are guilty? They would have to have hidden her body somewhere near by surely because they were both there at the tapas bar and were there when the alarm was raised so what ever they did they would have to have done it quickly and i don't think it would be possible to get away with it. Given what you know can you really think they were involved in the disappearance?
No one outside the tapas 9 saw MM after five o'clock.
It is possible that they were involved in the disapearance and before their PR machine kicked in the were quite rightly prime suspects.

The bookies don't care about the size of individual bets just the total potential payout they are risking on each outcome.
If you walk in and stick a grand on the Cheltenham gold cup they wouldn't blink, do it in the 5:20 at hamilton and it'll raise eyebrows.
