  1. In a footballing sense... and this is afterall a forum whose raison detre is the beautiful game as opposed to say being for bankers... them going into liquidation isn't really the big deal in itself, I'd argue.

The big deal would be what happened next.

What happens to Ibrox and Murray Park.

Is a transfer-of-share attempted, and is so, does it prevail.

Is another club bought-up, or a brand-new club formed.

We all know that Rangers 1690 FC will be formed and immediately re-entered into the SPL allowing Scottish football to continue as per usual asap.

  2. During the debate into this afternoons statements from Whyte and the administrators both Jim Traynor and Chick Young both said there were things that would come out in the next few days that would shock Rangers fans. When liquidation was mentioned Traynor said something along the lines of that wont happen and that history would not be lost but something would come out that would.

Has Whyte sold the naming rights to Ibrox?

I cannot think of anything else that would break a historic link and cause Rangers fans to be shocked.

Not the name. He's probably sold Ibrox itself. Ground share with QP from now on...finding the 6 months rental deposit might be a problem though.

  3. Just been on the OS and saw this :-

Fans wishing to buy tickets for the FA Cup fourth round replay against Tottenham are advised that the date of the game has now been switched.

The proposed date was Tuesday February 2 (7.45pm), but the game will now take place Wednesday February 3 (7.45pm) due to TV coverage.

The game will be screened live on ITV 1.

Thats now the same night as the Saints v Rangers CIS Cup semi at an empty Hampden. Will the Leeds game be shown in Scotland or will Bridget Jones Diary get another airing?

  4. Excellent good on them. I remember our key rings, mugs, pictures etc specially commissioned in conjunction with the PA, when we beat the worst Rangers team in recent times in the Cup at Ibrox. wink.gif

Local rag tries to cash in and make a quick buck? How rare! The PA would bring out a special edition if someone from Perthshire had a 2 second audition on the X Factor if it meant they could make a few more pennies. smile.gif

  5. Why the harshest penalty possible, because only then did it secure promotion for two other clubs. Cynical? That word doesn't even cover it. One trouser leg up, get licking those frogs boys!

What a scene today in the meeting eh? The Airdrie chairman chairing the meeting that will see his club get promoted, Black, red faced and passionate, rallying the old gaurd. What a conspiracy of wanks!

Terrible, isnt it. By the way, do you know if Jim Leishman missed out on this weeks meeting?

  6. The Sun

The League Management Committee - which included ex-Livi gaffer Jim Leishman - considered sanctions such as a points deduction or even relegation.

Its too late to go through the last 20 odd pages and catch up properly but am I seeing things or have the Becks completely taken over? Jim Leishman was on the SFL committee that sat today and decided Livi's fate?

Nah, it cant be right, even for Scottsh football. Tell me this didnt happen. It cant happen, surely. Jim Leishman deciding Livi's fate?

  7. If indeed Livi are saved, then the meaning of the story is that if you are going to mismanage a football team, wait until just before the season starts to go into administration, spend outwith your means, don't pay your bills, stiff your creditors, and then wait on the administrator blinking first. Then when all that is done, sit back and wait on the spineless idiots at the SFL telling you that it's okay to do all these things, that you'll escape with your league place intact with only the loss of three wins and a draw. Oh, you'll also get to keep your team intact as well.

An absolute fucking farce, a massive climbdown by the administrator, who thought Massone would blink first when he gave him a deadline, and then extended it when he saw that Massone was not playing his game.

The SFL have been an incompetent bunch of spineless buffoons throughout the whole escapade. They should have had their ducks in a row long before now. The SFL is a complete joke.

Slight amendment if you dont mind. There are no morals of any kind involved in this situation.

  8. It was a question, hence the ? I was under the impression that Brown personally bankrolled some of Saints wages fund. St. Johnstone are not renowned for a massive fan base. If I am wrong then fair enough St. Johnstone must do really well from commercial activites.

All though this seems like a well run club but, if like Dundee with Melville, Brown decides to end his association then St. J are left with contracts they cannot afford. Both on a smaller scale than Gretna but risky nonetheless.

Thats not a question. Thats a completely false statement based on your imagination. Geoff Brown does not bankroll Saints.

We do in fact do really well from commercial activities. However we have lived within our means for over 20 years and suffered years in the First Division for it. The plus side is that we can sleep at nights knowing our club will still be there in the morning.
