  1. Raith deservedly ahead and looking incredibly comfortable.

It's all very well having pacey players but neither Mebude or Fitzpatrick have any awareness whatsoever of where their teammates are when they are on the ball.   As usual, Shields is creating openings but no-one apart from Maxwell seems to be arsed pushing forward in support.  Given how effective Dickson was in CM on Saturday I've no idea why he is stuck out wide tonight.  Gibson seems to have lost the ability to direct a pass lately, and as for Buchanan...

We all know how reluctant he is to diverge from his pre-match plan, but if AJ doesn't make changes then we're goosed.

To score a really good goal then switch off straight after and  lose a poor goal is frustrating .

When we played it on the ground we looked decent but far too many high balls to nobody why can't we pass it through midfield draw was about right for the game

It looks like you've run out of full stops again.  Here are some that you can copy and paste until you get yourself a new supply.

    . . . . . . . . . . . . .

  3. Two very evenly matched teams on show today.   We had to battle hard to get our noses in front, just a shame we let Caley back into it so quickly.

Dickson was impressive today and was always in their faces until he clearly ran out of steam and should have been subbed.  Buchanan also looked solid, he looks a much better player with Breen alongside him as opposed to when he's paired with Ayo.  Shields ran his socks off again but we really need to get bodies upfield quicker to offer him  support.  A really good goal from Fitzpatrick, but aside scoring he did nothing else and more often than not gave away possession, so hopefully Jones can last the 90 against Raith.

Even though tonight involved the two teams at extreme ends of the table and furthest away from us, it was still a good outcome.

I was no longer worried about automatic relegation, but it was good to have any vague possibility formally removed.

More Importantly, it was good to see Hearts record a big win, given that we don't have to play them again, but ICT and Raith still do, as well as Morton. If a return to form suggests Hearts will win these games, then we stand to benefit.

Tomorrow's fixtures present a real conundrum as far as preferred results go.  Wins for Ayr, Morton and Arbroath would be a huge boost in terms of our chances of getting into the promotion play offs while at the same time keeping us right the mix in the battle to avoid finishing 9th.  Conversely if Dunfermline, Dundee & Raith all win we'd be pretty much guaranteed safety but our chances of finishing in the top 4 would be dramatically reduced.

I think the ideal scenario tomorrow may be a win for us (obviously) and the other three games ending in draws, but this league is so tight I can't even convince myself that that would do us any major favours!.

With a fit Jones and Mebude available I don’t think Pybus gets in the team to be honest.

I totally agree that both Jones and Mebude would and should be automatic picks if available.   But it's not Mebude or Jones who have been deployed in Pybus's role since his injury.  Nortey was shaping up to be a decent replacement for Pybus, but since Nortey and Pybus have both been out neither McCabe nor McGrory have been nearly as effective in the advanced CM position.

  6. Fair enough he picked the team I would have gone with yesterday, but it was clear early on that our midfielders were being pressed quickly and crowded out by Morton's 5 man midfield and as such we resorted to hoofball.  Our good run has been based on playing one particular style against sides set up in a 4-4-2.  When we came up against something different yesterday we looked totally devoid of ideas and AJ was slow to adapt.

If Dapo has played his last game I'd like to see Dobbie given a start against Hearts.  I'd also like to see what Dickson and McKechnie could bring to the team but those two guys seem to have been somewhat frozen out which is odd considering the amount of gametime the ineffective Fitzpatrick gets.

ETA - never thought I'd say this, but we've really missed Pybus in the last couple of games.

  7. Took the goal to wake us up and we've rode our luck a bit so I'm happy to be level at half time.  Shields and Mebude as a front two isn't paying off today but they are feeding off scraps.  Ayo though.  The big man is a just joy to watch.  C'mon Billy, get that new contract typed up for him now...

  8. This has been a cracking watch, right from the off when it was pleasing to see Shields making his presence felt 10 seconds in given the treatment he was given at Alloa.

Alloa definitely shaded things for the first 20 and were unlucky not to be in front.  I wouldn't be too harsh on your defenders if I was an Alloa fan as Shields and Dapo must be a total nightmare to play against on this form.  At the other end Cameron looks a real handful.

Incredibly harsh red for Ayo.  Miss-timed yes, but no intentional malice in the tackle.  I just hope the ref hasn't ruined the spectacle in sending him off.
