Signing Andy Murdoch then playing him at right back is like putting Aldi lemonade into a nice single malt.

He wouldn’t be signed to play there. Operating a small squad like ours, having players who can play multiple positions helps. Adams and Bell can both play CB and CM, Geggan RB and CM, Forrest both wings and up front, same with McDaid, Moffat CM and CF and Rose CB and RB. Having Murdoch who in theory can cover 2 positions would be an asset and means we don’t need to use money in our tight budget on more cover for RB.

You’d have to assume that if McCall thought Ecrepont was ready to play last season at 15 years old then he’d be our back up to Harvie. I’m not aware of Harvie having any niggling injuries either and hopefully with Steven Maguire back full time we can put an end to the constant injury troubles.

Geggan is the concern for me as well. Not doubting he can’t hold his own abilities wise but I’d expect him to have injuries and suspensions as well. If we do decide to go for a defender then I’d hope we would sign one that can play CH and RB.

Yeah I don’t see why Ecrepont in theory couldn’t feature. He certainly has the physical attributes and has a lot of first team training experience where McCall will have judged him on how ready he is

  3. Thinking if McCall has discovered Murdoch can play right back, that may be the reason he’s not bothered with Ferguson. That would leave Geggan, Murdoch and Rose who can cover right back and Harvie, Ecrepont and Higgins at a push at left back. Baird even at right back/centre back if need be. That for me leaves us needing a keeper and centre back as priorities. Assuming Murdoch signs.

The only problem for me with that is Geggans injuries. Don’t want him to play 5, miss 4, back for 3, miss 6 etc. That then disrupts the midfield with Murdoch constantly switching.

No, in not Ally Morrison, whoever the f**k he is. Just an Ayr fan for the past 22 years that is making a clear statement of discontent from Ayrs lack of a keeper. :-s

Plus, I'm getting annoyed that Alloa, a team we view as our lesser due to part time players, are signing more/better players than us.

    Recruiting a few....  Foreigners.

I wanna know what love is... Mccall will you show me?

Haha hold on. Trouten no better, Adam Brown? lol. David Galt no better. Greig Spence doesn’t get near Moore, Shankland and Moff and some loan from Motherwell. With their additions they are still way behind us in terms of quality, only their keeper would be one that they have (currently) that is maybe better equipped. They’re looking at Liam Dick for left back who seemingly really struggled at this level last season.

    Simmer down wae that patter.

  5. Keeper situation is beginning to irritate a bit now. Happy that Hare-Reid has been getting the chance in these 2 games, but we need someone in very quickly. Is this going to be the striker situation of our previous visit?

Also, this whole not being sure if we can afford Murdoch and Ferguson talk is getting frustrating as we probably need both plus another defender. We can’t rely on Adams and Bell being the back up defence.
