I certainly hope this doesn't happen.

McGuffie has that something about him that can turn a game in a minute. He made some very important contributions for us last season coming off the bench and while I'd agree that he maybe hasn't kicked on quite as hoped, he's still got lots to offer us in the Championship as a squad player at the very minimum.

Agree, I’d be more inclined to see someone like Leon Murphy go on loan. An as an example, sure McCall could speak to Murphy and look at one or 2 going there to develope. Plus Leon has family there, so would get good support.

Forrest is probably the one who has a big season to prove himself, last time in the championship he got bullied about the place.

He got played as a lone striker most weeks and got the ball hoofed to him!

See Avci is away to Stranraer.

Called this. The writing was on the wall for him when Hare-Reid was signed and he got shipped out to Troon. Best of luck to him, never really got the chance. Have we another David Mitchell/Jackson Longridgde type of transfer from Ayr to Stranraer?

Saw him play against Morton 20s the other week, pretty sure he wasn't playing against Clyde 20s in the other game I went to.

On that night he was probably the worst on the park, everything was just kind of going wrong for him on the night so hopefully that was just a one off, can't imagine he would be a regular for them if that was standard fare.

I'm no taking any judgement from that and hoping someone like @callum-ayr will have something better to say

I’ll need to pass, I’ve not made many games this year due to work and this is his first full year at under 20s level so hasn’t seen much if any of him last year. More a ball playing centre half from the Little I know (probably more down to his height).

I would be surprised to see Ecrepont play this year in the league, he’s 16 this year, maybe get him game time in the Betfred cup, but championship with little to no senior experience would be tough.

  4. I don’t think aiming to finish ourwith the bottom 2 shouldn’t not be our aim. Our last 3 visits have seen us finish 10th 9th and 10th. Yeah this is probably the best side we’ve came up with, however the strong possibility of having County, Inverness, Thistle, Dundee Utd, Falkirk then strong championship teams like Dunfermline, Morton and QOS means aiming for top 4 is very questionable. I’d bite your hand off for 8th just now and something tells me Morton are in for a tough year, so let’s just get the best squad we can, get into a position we’re safe and crack on from there.

Think I'd rather stick with Cameron tbf, could get a bit risky with fan/community involvement.

Out of interest is there any championship clubs who have fan/community involvement, think QOTS might.

That’s the thing, no one who is going to buy us is. For all of Lachlans faults, he can keep us afloat, but it’s not going to help us grow. I really don’t know what the solution is, but maybe someone like Kirkwood along with good footballing directors with a good strong community backing is the future. A sustained season in the Championship is a must to get the fans on side.

Just hope training in Ayr full-time doesn't put players off joining. I think some players view partially training in Glasgow as a big benefit. I get what McCall is saying about being a real Community Club, but I hope we don't shoot ourselves in the foot with that one.

I don’t believe it will be that much of a problem. You’ve seen the likes of Shankland and Crawford commit this season and are both Glasgow based players. I think it’s more of a problem part time with other jobs, getting to Ayr on a Tuesday night after a 8 hour shift. However this is their full time commitment so I don’t see it being a problem and I think that’s what McCall will have found out from the squad this year and is why he’ll implement that idea.

I'd agree that a one off final game is a good idea. I'd imagine that the issue is then where is the game played i.e. a neutral venue? Problems with that is at what point will the SPFL be able to designate a stadium suitable when it's still unclear over what teams may or may not be involved in playoffs?

At this level and League 2, with the teams involved they could surely have 3 or 4 nominated stadiums. The likes of Stirling, Livi, St Mirren, Patrick would be ideal and for the Premiership play offs you can look at the likes of Hearts, Hibs, Motherwell, Killie.

  8. Contracted - Geggan, Bell, Moffat, Higgins.

Keep - Hart (maybe not first choice), Rose, McDaid, Crawford, Kerr (player/coach), McGuffie, Forrest, Moore, Shankland

Away - Reid, Boyle, Adams, Ferguson

Not sure - Docherty and whatever youth players are retained.

What we realistically need? 1 GK, 3/4 defenders, possibly 2 midfielders and 1 striker. All dependent on who goes/stays.

Lachlan in the past has had no qualms with posting substantial losses, can't see Sims doing that.  Seems fairly obvious from the outside looking in that you're spending more.

We have only 5 senior defenders in our squad, down to 4 now Higgins is out till December. That will tell you how tight a budget we are on in terms of it being a FT budget. I’d say both our squads are top heavy with our quality higher earners in the forward areas.

  10. Has McCalls words of war after the game last week had a bit of the Jose Mourinho mind game effect? Not had a chance to read your match thread or watch your highlights so not sure if it’s a case of not being able to score or just a bad game. Next week is very interesting now, pressure pendulum has swung round back on Raith after the defeat and with your next 2 games being away, where you have only won 4/10 away league games, do the players have that sitting in the back of their heads?

He's played a few games and most fans want to see him kept on as he still has something to offer. Word is the relationship between him and Jack Ross isn't the best. He's been rumoured to be leaving us all summer - at this stage, with nobody else coming in, I'd rather we kept him.

If he does leave, though, it must not be to a league rival, so perhaps Ayr would make sense.

Like I said, just a rumour. Someone on an Ayr Facebook group claiming to be ITK said we'll sign an experienced centre forward on loan from a club in the league above. So naturally Suttons name has popped up.
