Callum -Ayr outplayed you lot in 4 games last season, playing Hoofball  you rode your luck, won't get away with that this year, get ready for freefall.

We were the better team over 36 league games and managed to dispose of you over 2 legs without getting out of first gear.

They got a fair bit of cash from Celtic in the cup last year on tv and have Rangers away in the League Cup on a shared gate this summer too. Couple of windfalls there.

They done work on their cow shed with some of that money. We'll see how their season goes and where they are when they fail to get promoted again.

  3. Stranraer must be banking on promotion this season. A good number of their players won't be there on the cheap. Aggy, Nade, Malcolm, Bell etc will be well paid and for a club that only generate around 400 a week, it's a lot.

Begging buckets will be back on show soon enough without promotion.....

  4. Couldn't help but feel that Livingston made a massive mistake keeping Hopkin and Martindale in charge after last season.

With your up to date knowledge of League One dross, just how bad are they?

From the signings i've seen, they've taken he central defensive partnership of Airdrie, who were not willing to make them full time and made them full time

In fact, they've signed just about half that Airdrie team.  Airdrie were not great last year.

  5. When you come out of the railway station you come up to the main road where there are always taxis parked. Turn right and cross over the street there are a few cafes/chip shops after the pub I am thinking about there is another one on the corner possibly a student place. I f you go back you come to a bar that sits back in its own little smokers area. It's not Buds I haven't been in that one or the shop next to it. This one is a darts pub it has darts down in the bar/seating area and upstairs in a gantry area. I wish I could remember the bloody name.

Think that's crumbs and cocktails now, user to the firehouse or something similar.

  6. No it's not the Market I have had a beer or two there. The one I am asking about is when you come out the station up the slope and the Irish pub is almost on the corner across the road turn right and head towards the High Street that way the pub itself sits in a cut back. It's only a few yards from the chip shops and cafes that are there. Anyway will be through on the 6th August get off at the bus station try the Wekkington then possibly Wetherspoons definately Willie Wassels then probably Geordies Byre and if I have time The Wallace. After the game I might want to throw myself in the river or probably drown my sorrows/celebrate in Geordies Byre.

Aw buds? Next to the sex shop*?

    *So I'm lead to beleive...

  7. Callum-ayr I lived and worked in Ayr for two years and to my mind Geordies Byre was a very good pub. Being an ale drinker it suited me as well as the Wellington down in the basement. As you say Wetherstons not much difference from normal pub prices. Is Willie Wassels still reasonable priced? There was another one up by the railway station sat back a bit from the road I could be weong but was it Ma Camerons or something like that another good pub.

Heard good things about Geordies Byre, especially for Ale drinkers, but never really down that way unless i'm at the snooker hall.  I'd imagine you'll get a cheap lager in Willie Wassells, usually got something like Carling for £2.50.  You talking about the Market Inn at Morrisons?  Decent pub with a decent jukebox.  Shite for watching football the way the bar is shaped.

  8. Not joined a club or anything, by took my last 3 scores of 83,88,89 and worked out that I am roughly around a handicap of 20.  Playing again on Thursday at Troon Darley, so I reckon i'll need it!

  9. Ship tavern is now a bit step up and play, different owners.

The Wallace is out at Newton on Ayr station, it's decent, but you're not getting a group of 20+ folk in it. Weatherspoons is pish, no music and cheap drink is a myth. Willie Wassels is ok I suppose, but the affor mentioned 7/8 pubs are better.

  10. If you have time to go into Ayr then:

O'Briens (across from the train station)

Rabbies (just further down a bit)

'Twa Dugs (across from the Odeon)

Tam 'O Shanter (down the high street, bit small, but decent)

Black Bull (next to TK Max down the bottom of the town across the bridge, newly done up, decent prices and loads of Tv's)

River Cottage (where the supporters club goes from, it's ok, but better pubs, right across from the Black Bull)

Hawkhill Bowling Club (next to the ground)
