  1. Did we score from a corner that looked like it might even have been practiced on the training ground or am I glorifying it after sitting through the preceding 85 mins?

Good composure from Holt to just place it on target. Docherty could take note, he'd have had another go at taking the net off.

Some Ayr fans seem much more upset about the pitch than anyone else for some reason.

Yeah, they could have; I wonder if he’d have to be named specifically on the contract as persona non grata (which he won’t have been). From this tho (and the firm’s name here is…eesh!) it looks like you can terminate a commercial lease in Scotland on 40 days notice - even if that didn’t apply then the council would be within their rights  to simply not renew the lease at renewal date, meaning the club are still getting papped out; just a bit further down the line.

Commercial leases will ordinarily have a longstop date of 6 / 12 months prior to expiry where a renewal, quit or break notice will have to served. 12 months is obviously approaching in May so the council could essentially be issuing a public get him to f**k or you're out warning before actually having to serve notice.

There was a big scandal in the late Eighties regarding a long-deceased furniture chain (the era's DFS) who would regularly increase their prices for a couple of days, then drop them to the exact same levels and advertise a massive sale with deep discounts. Front-page news in the tabloids at the time; presumably their chairman had pissed off one of the paper's owners. I believe the law was changed as a result so that discounts can only be advertised on items that have been at the prior price for a longer period (still something daft like a couple of weeks, or a month).

I can't remember their name - something like Alldays or Alders? They had a huge outlet near where I lived at the time, and it closed within a year of the new laws coming in, which spoke volumes.

TJ Hughes on Trongate got a similar slap on the wrists years ago for having more than one "closing down sale", staged around rent review or lease renewal time.

They've finally gone through with it recently and moved to the St Enoch's centre so the old building will likely be the next demolition job down that way.

  4. Went to Australia with QA via Doha a few years ago and after a 20 hour delay at Edinburgh while they flew engineers over to bring a part with them, also had to spend 12 hours in Doha. They sent us to a hotel in town so ended up going out for a look around.

Seemed shite. Ridiculous place to be holding a major football tournament.

If we were to qualify the atmosphere over here would be great anyway.

Not sure if people are being serious but we are not gonna come close to winning the group. Danes will beat Austria on Tuesday and qualify. 10 wins out of 10 very possible for them.

Beat Faroes and Moldova and we’re in the play-offs.

    Bore off ffs.

I have a question tangentially related to today's game. I will be getting the train to Mount Florida from Central, but want to avoid the queues at the ticket machine. I am passing Bellgrove, High Street & Queen Street today; can I buy tickets from one of these stations' ticket machines?

You can buy a ticket straight through to mount Florida from any station machine but the fare will be from that station. If you ask at the ticket office at High street or Queen street they should be able to give you one from central.

  7. Saints for me.

Went over to the states in 2016 with a couple of mates who were into NFL and first city visited was New Orleans.

We got tickets to see them against the Falcons which we had no idea carried a bit of needle as a rivalry so the whole game day experience was just a class day out and pretty much got me hooked on a sport I'd previously given zero f**ks about since my last exposure to it at Murrayfield when the school got Scottish Claymores ticket handouts.

  8. Was at the game today and thought the fans gave as good an atmosphere as could be expected after being told to turn up two hours before kick off and having nothing but the “official euro 2020 DJ” and mind numbing MC directing you to watch videos on the screen at the other end of the park to keep you awake.

The whole setup was a shambles. Stagger the entry to avoid crowds coming in together, but at full time it’s just the usual free for all coming up the stairs and out round the ground.
