Mind when Caley secured promotion and they changed the 10k seat rule to 7k?

Mind that Partick went to court cause they had to build 10k the year before and mewled that we should do the same?

    Mind that??

I do. Get fucking down you utter irrelevance.

Some fairly glaring omissions of detail there. Unsurprising though as it's the usual version of the events from ICT fans because it makes the whole episode sound like less of another utterly corrupt stitch up.

Thistle only attempted to block the ridiculous second vote having had the original vote go in our favour. There was no court challenge after the second vote changed the outcome and we didn't even appeal the reversal.

Partick Thistle have been down the route of legal action before in 2005 when they attempted to stop the Premier League teams voting on Caley's promotion to the PL legally as it meant Partick would be relegated, their Chairman at the time Tom Hughes argued that Caley's proposal to groundshare with Aberdeen at the start of the season was against the rules. The vote went ahead and in Caley's favour.

Stewart Milne btw charged us £30,000 a game the greedy b*****d.

You've missed out the fairly important part where the original vote went in Thistle's favour and  when that wasn't the desired outcome it there were suddenly misunderstandings from certain boards and a second vote proposed. It was the second vote that we, quite rightly, tried to block.

Same shit, different fannies in charge.

Motherwell got away with relegation because Falkirk didn’t have a 10,000 capacity stadium and they refused to allow Falkirk to ground share.  Can you imagine needing a 10,000 seated stadium just to play top flight football in Scotland?  Those days really were crazy!

Yes. Being one of the mug teams that tried to keep up with it, it's caused us significant ballache over the years to say the least.

Whyte also insisted that Rangers are a new club. In response to the question, "One emotionally very, very divisive issue which, to this day, divides Scottish football - are Rangers a new club? What's your view?" he replied: "Yes, obviously they are."

That should cause a few cranial detachments.

  5. First time I’ve come across this thread, some great stuff.

Surprised there’s been no Mitchell Library yet, unless I’ve missed it...

Also the city chambers which if you ever have a spare 10 minutes when you are passing is worth looking into just to see the marble stair case

Quite an interest in brutalist and modernism styles and I think the former BOAC office building on Buchanan Street is a cracking wee example in the context of where it sits within its surroundings. Love the copper cladding.

  6. Was at the game with a Watford supporting mate, thought they were unlucky with the obvious first half chances before pretty much chucking two into their own net then being blown away in the second half.

As a neutral found the whole atmosphere quite weird for a cup final though. Watford fans were great at waving their flags and I’m sure it looked good on tv, but at times you could actually hear the sound of thousands of shitey plastic flags being waved because there was no singing or noise going on along with it.

Similarly, the Man City fans sat on their hands most of the time other than goals scored and even then they seemed subdued after the 3rd. Was verging on polite applause at the other goals.

On the fans in their seat chat, I couldn’t believe how few people were back out for the start of the second half, and I don’t just mean in the hospitality level. Folk just seem to want to skelp a £6 pint of Bud (or two if possible) and get a pish in before coming back out to watch the game. Mental.

Have attached a photo taken a minute or so after 2nd half KO, everyc*nt was at the bar or in the pisser, you can see the amount of empty seats as the game is going on IMG_0916.thumb.jpg.5ce4f8ffc429fd3d8a801d3884ef084a.jpg

Our manager literally said it wasn't a deal he wanted to do, but it was out of respect for the player that he was allowed to leave.

His future will depend on Shaughnessy, whos out of contract in the Summer, and Kerr, who's attracting interest from the Championship.

Both are better than Anderson, but we're highly unlikely to get anyone of their quality in the Summer, so Anderson will be considered first choice again.

The interview I saw with Wright doesn't mention anything about it not being a deal he wanted to do, only that the opportunity to get a replacement in allowed it to happen. So they were willing to do it if a replacement was available. If it's the case that the replacement is seen as a bench filler then it doesn't sit with any suggestion of not being willing to let him go or that his place in the squad was anything other than the same.

If he's got a year on his contract then I guess we'll see how far this heavy heart sentiment extends in the summer. Personally I can't see him being assured as a regular at Saints again and he'll be off to somewhere with that on offer.

    Runs until 2020.

He found himself out the first team for a reason, and even when we went to a back three he wasn't getting game time. Hes slowed down and the three CBs ahead of him are all better on the ball aswell. The manager clearly still trusts him though.

Theres every chance we'll be losing two players ahead of him this Summer though, so he'll be back in the Summer until thats all sorted out one way or another, I imagine.

Saints didn't "willingly" do the deal at all. Our manager confirmed Anderson wants to be playing football regularly at this late stage in his career and didn't feel it was right to stand in his way. Keown was simply a late, available, cheap option to make up the numbers, and will struggle to play at all barring injuries/suspension.

So there's plenty to suggest he'll be surplus to requirements for a number of reasons.

Of course they willingly did the deal. If they weren't willing, it wouldn't have happened. If the view on Keown above is the official one from Saints, it doesn't say much for Anderson's value to their squad that he can be replaced so effortlessly with anyone claiming to be a defender.

Stick on mutual agreement in the summer.

  9. If Anderson didn't want game time, he'd have been happy to sit on Saints bench and they'd have never bothered with Keown.
As it is, Anderson wanted to play football. We could offer that, as well as a swap for a guy who wouldn't be as fussed about sitting on a bench somewhere, because it'd still be closer than he was getting to games with us.

If being replaced on the STJ bench by someone who wouldn’t be fussed about sitting there because he was such a tit at his parent club he’d do anything to get away doesn’t ring home about his place in their squad, then by all means he should go back and crack on.
  10. Don’t think Keown will get a chance to prove he’s any good. So I’d be surprised if he signed permanently with is. Anderson has spoke about wanting to come back to saints next season and given he’s under contract, unless he specially asks to leave and we have retained all our other players it seems unlikely. Kerr may go, but we’re also potentially losing Shaughnessy as well and that would leave us with only 1 other centreback signed up excluding Ando.

Aye, but given you’ve willingly chosen to put Keown on your bench ahead of him just now, the penny will eventually drop that he’s better off away from the farm.

    Mutual agreement incoming...
  11. Thought Storeys goal celebration  was a  get it up u northy ,might be wrong

So claiming the dregs of an own goal is worth a sullen/giruy celebration? [emoji23]

I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt for putting pressure on the defender, however he’s a terrible footballer (I’m not sure which position he thinks he’s good at) who’s welcome to leave anytime he likes.

His failure to control and finish an absolute gift from Fitzpatrick not long after his luckily deflected goal says enough about his contribution to date.

  12. Our current arrangement is likely on a license type basis where we are granted use at specific times and probably pay an element of service charge proportionate to the use within our costs.

Assuming we are taking the headline lease and it allows then there should be nothing stopping us putting similar deals in place to generate revenue. I'm sure whichever local authority it ends up in will want some community use from it. Celtic have/had a deal in place with East Dunbartonshire at Lennoxtown although I'm sure that was fairly limited and under scrutiny at one point towards it's value for public money.

  13. I see this tournament will trial going straight to penalties without extra-time in event of a draw after 90 mins during the quarter and semi final stages. Returns to normal for final.

Not something I'd like to see introduced but I can't help thinking it's a trial with a view to potential implications of heat fatigue on players at the Qatar World Cup, assuming it doesn't get pulled.
