Well bought a bike. Took me a while, a million bike retailers. Some just didn't seem interested in folk looking for lower priced bikes and others recommended stuff I'd said was well out of my price range. In the end this bike came up trumps in the service and price ratio.
B'Twin Triban 3, for £299 seems to meet my needs well and looks decent for the money. A close relation to the B'Twin Sport range highly thought over on bikenet etc.
Initial thoughts are promising, it was decent but only did 2 miles.
Gearing will take a little getting used to for me, not used to it yet. The bloke said it will ease up with a bit of use and to come back to get the adjustment redone.
I had it all explained but was still confused and pushing the brake levels the wrong way- oops. It's Sora really anyway. I'll need to go out and have a proper play with the gears and understand what shifts what and which way!
I expect to see this flash by my on the cycle track down lochwinnoch way lol I'll run my hyrbrid bike for the rest of the summer may aim for a road bike byt next year

I got my last two bikes from Evans some of the prices are through the roof on some bikes.
I used the ride2work scheme though my work this time which works out cheaper basically get the bike vat free.

Gourock run is nice, although I tend to do Kilmacolm and chuck it there- it has a rather end of path feeling with the pub there.
I quite like the Lochwinnoch run, not bad, although Kilmacolm one I feel is slightly harder as it is a constant uphill gradient that railways have that you don't really notice from Linwood to Port Glasgow really. If you get it on the wrong day with a strong headwind you feel it- I did once on a day with a strong wind- took 15 more mins to Kilmacolm and I had to stop and get a drink in the Coop. On the way back I was 30 minutes quicker .
Will do the Lochwinnoch one again it was 13 miles from my house to there and back- if I get a day off might go down to Kilwinning or so.
I thought the Gourouk run and Port run were both the same. Need to give it a try think it helps if you have someone with you to help push you along as when i'm out cycling I tend to see someone in the distance and set about trying to catch them. Also with Endomondo app it tells you the time you have set for that mile and every mile after which can be quite good but also soul destorying when cycling into the wind, Which I seem to be doing when comming around the airport doesnt matter what the weather is like seems to always be windy there
Maybe i should try the above and stop for a drink to help me home
What kind of bike are you using? I just upgraded to a hybrid bike from my mountain bike which I sold. I have knocked about 10 mins off my best time from the moutain bike and 20 odd of my worst time. so fairly pleased so far with it

I prefer MyTracks, TBH. I can't be arsed downloading onto the net and all that palaver. I used Endomondo a few times before I discovered MyTracks, and it's possible i didn't take advantage of all it's facilities fully, but I'm happy with my app now.
Fair play they both do the same thing dont understand what you mean by all the downloading onto the net. As it does it all automitcally for all you do is log into the website and all your & your friends stats are there without doing a thing for you to see.

I see a few of you have been using mytracks on your smartphones, you should give endomondo a shot i downloaded it and havent used my tracks since, Endomondo has a great website also where is stores all your info its great app. Where you can also track your friends etc
I've just got myself a Hybrid bike yesterday going to collect tonight couldnt choose between the Hybrid and road bike end up going for the slightly more comfortable choice i think, but still Hybrid should improve my times.

I got a a bike through the ridetowork scheme i just stuck with the MTB but now thinking i should have gotten a hybrid bike as i do alot of cycling at night on the cycle track. but i'll stick with it just now
I also use it going to work which is cat mouse when when you get to interchange at the airport but you just get the head down and go for it. there are some great apps on the smartphone markets to get track of all your times etc

Anyone notice how different sid was on lewis's nine darter, than a taylor one.No screaming or anything.
Great final last night, Lewis is just as good as hitting the high scores like Anderson it was just his night.
I know what you mean with Sid anything Taylor does he nearly creams himself,

That is swift for 10 miles and with a bike at that price you would expect it to fly anyway lol.
Good news getting a shower installed in work Drooper. I cycle to work daily makes that trip to work a little better. Not looking forward to going home tonight rain which is ok but that wind is looking mighty gusty
