  1. The deal for Toral, who did very well on loan at Birmingham, is not finalised yet as far as I know. The defender David Bates, who was on loan from Raith, has signed an 18-month deal. It'll be interesting to see how these young guys do.
  2. Coral have a good case imo. Rangers left the SPL following a vote - and votes merely reflect opinion.
  3. Bill Struth had a greenhouse at Ibrox at the rear of the away terracing, in which he grew tomatoes etc. Among other events held at the stadium were the Ibrox Sports in which several famous athletes competed. It apparently also featured tennis with hats:
  4. England win a warm-up against India A.Also it's being suggested (e.g. in the Daily Telegraph) that Cook will give up the Test captaincy and Root will take it on.
  5. Very different from what happened with Rangers on the sporting side. The Bradford rugby league club has ceased to play whereas with Rangers the football club did not. With Bradford the sport's authorities have called for bids for a brand new club and there are 10 parties interested in setting up a totally new sports club. That didn't happen with Rangers.
  6. There's a director at Aberdeen who gets significantly more and a director at another SPFL club who pulls down over £1 million, just to put matters in perspective.
  7. MS Dhoni has stepped down as India's ODI captain not long before they face England but is still available for selection as a player.
  8. Deadpool. Having watched a few I've decided I'm just not into superhero movies even though this one spices things up with some bawdy humour etc. 6/10 from my point of view, I know other folk have liked it more.
  9. Amazing innings by Warner (the git). The English-born Renshaw then made 167 not out. Oz 365 - 3.
  10. SA well on top v SL, 250 ahead with 9 wickets left. On SS2. Australia v Pakistan looks like being a draw, partly thanks to the weather. Azhar Ali made a double ton, Warner a rapid 144.
  11. Predictably the England collapse is on. 127-3 after a good start.
  12. A draw would be a bit of consolation for England. They'd feel slightly better. But even if they lose I don't foresee major changes. Cook will only stop being captain at this stage if he personally has had enough of it.There won't be huge alterations to the team. I'd expect both Hameed and Jennings to play, barring unforeseen circumstances. They'd like Wood fit to have a bit more pace available. Also there won't be the same need for spinners back in England or in Australia as there has been in India.
  13. India declare eventually on 759 for 7. Karun Nair 303 not out. England reach 12 for 0 by the end. England should be able to survive tomorrow but I'm not totally convinced.
  14. England stuck to their task quite well but India are in a good position at 391-4. They look like building a handy lead and putting England under pressure, which England have not generally coped well with in this series. The draw is favourite with the bookies but an Indian win looks a decent bet at 11/4.
  15. Decent effort by England, helped by half-centuries for Dawson and Rashid today. I expect India to make a very big score.
  16. If there is a concern about Root it is about his rate of conversion of 50s into 100s. Moeen does get a ton and England finish on 284-4.
  17. Cheers for that. Obviously the pitch can play a part in the selection. If England do pick 3 spinners it's a cert to be a seamers' pitch! If they are choosing 3 spinners, since they've called up Dawson they might as well give him a go.
  18. Anderson will miss the final Test. Seems Broad could be fit but I'm not sure they'll want to play him with the series already decided.
  19. I'll be very surprised if Cook resigns any time soon, though he shouldn't hang around for very much longer.Maybe he'll step down after the Ashes.
  20. Stokes out. That was a good decision.
  21. The level of appealing has been ridiculous (and I'm not saying India are the only ones who do it). It really doesn't help the umpires but nonetheless there have been some poor decisions. 50 for Bairstow. Well done.
  22. Dawson wouldn't have been my choice but, having called him up, they might as well have played him. It would have been a different spin option and he can bat a bit. As you suggest and as so often, the early part of the day will be vital tomorrow. If England can somehow get rid of Kohli quickly it will clearly help their chances - but I'd still expect them to lose!
  23. Looks very much like another India win. They are a very good side but England have made a mess of the spin bowling department all the way through and ended up today with Rasheed bowling 28 overs in a row and quicker bowlers hanging around like spare you-know-whats at a wedding.
  24. Another Kohli century. Really top-class player. 376-7.
