  1. i will caveat this comment with i don't watch too much college football.

Lawrence is a strange one, he had this great record of never losing, until he lost the college championship game.  That must mean something right? all the talking draft heads said he was generational coming into the NFL and then he got Urban Myer.

Talent like Manning and Luck, who were also saw as generational, backed it up by winning games with various levels of talent around them. Lawrence needs the right players around him.

Keeping my first statement in mind... is there a consensus number 1 qb for next year?

  2. I am sure your right @throbber but these photo's were at the severe end of the scale... so he might just get some jail time and allowed out straight away as there is no room for him... people sitting on motorways are the real criminals here.

edit.. yeah, he's not going to prison.

    from the BBC

Philip Evans KC, the defence for Huw Edwards, reminds the court that he has submitted psychiatric reports explaining the background to the offending.

The chief magistrate indicates he will keep the case.

That means Edwards cannot be facing a term of more than one year - assuming that prison is being considered - because magistrates have limited sentencing powers.

    So...

who gets benched first.  Bryce Young or Bo Nix?

    or Caleb Williams....

    20/35, 246 yards, 7.0 ypp avg, 0 tds, 2 interceptions, 2 sacks, 55.2 rating, 25 yards rushing - Nix - Back up Stidham / Wilson

    23/37, 174 yards, 4.7 ypp avg, 0 tds, 2 interceptions, 7 sacks, 51.0 rating,  44 yards rushing - Williams - Back up Tyson Bagent

    18/26, 84 yards, 4.7 ypp avg, 0tds, 1 interception, 2 sacks, 57.2 rating, 6 yards rushing - Young - Back up Andy Dalton

At least for Nix and WIlliams they are rookies, playing their first snaps and have flashed nice things. Young has nothing to throw to and look like he's regressing. Not sure any of these teams will improve moving to their back ups.

Denver's problem isn't really Nix, its we have no run game. Nix in college got a lot of success off play action, but since our runners spend 90% of their time running into the OL or straight into the waiting arms of defenders, we can't really get that going for him.

How did everyone get on in Wk1? I picked the Texans so roll onto Wk2.

picking against the Pats every week plan worked out fine for me......

No sure I really agree with that. Araiza was released for reasons that were nothing to do with football, so I think you can make the case that the Bills should have retained his rights should he return to the NFL.

Buffalo would have been pilloried had they not released him under the circumstances, and regardless of what you think about the situation, the fact is he's never even been prosecuted, let alone found guilty of anything, so I think it's a bit weird that Buffalo has to forego his rights. Perhaps they should at least retain them for a period equivalent to the length of contract or something.

Just on this. it turns out he wasn't even there when the gangbang/assault (depending on who you believe) happened. he left 30 mins before and it was on camera.

Last nights game was a good way to kick off the season. the pass before the toe out of bounds one where Jackson completely missed a wide open Flowers is unforgivable. How is this running back a 2 time MVP???

  6. I am pretty sure i read before FM24 was released that FM 25 was going to be a rewrite of the match engine to make it look better.

sounds like they have been rewriting the whole game for 2 years now and failed miserably.

He said: "I won £582.20 and every time I ring them up I get a different story. I have been paying for the lottery for 10 years, that is £10 a week, £1,040 every year for 30 years and I finally make £500 and they won’t give me it.

The reporter should really proof read the story, this is awful.

    He's been playing for 10 years... but he's been paying £1,040 a year for 30 years, also £10 a week isn't £1,040

  8. AFC Division Winners: Bills, Bengals, Texans, Chiefs

NFC Division Winners: Eagles, Lions, Bucs, 49'ers

AFC Wild Cards: Broncos, Ravens, Dolphins

NFC Wild Cards: Rams, Packers, Cowboys

AFC Championship Game : Texans v Ravens

NFC Championship Game: 49'ers v Lions

Super Bowl : Texans v Lions - Lions win

    Regular Season MVP: CJ Stroud

Rookie of Year (either Offensive or Defensive): Bo Nix

First Head Coach Fired: Dennis Allan

Worst regular season record (would say first pick in draft but can obvs be traded): Patriots (but Panthers will be close)

How will your team do?: Wild Card round, I am all onboard with the Bo Nix train.

Other than your team winning , what do you want to see this season?: If its not the Bronco's I want the Lions to win the Superbowl. Anyone but the chiefs to get to teh superbowl. Get this threepeat nonsense in the bin. Rodgers to last 6 snaps this year.

  9. working in IT i should know better...

When i was a civil servant OT was plentiful but in the Glasgow team it was always the same 3 managers(1 of them was the boss of the other 2) who did all the weekend OT, whereas in Edinburgh it was folk on my level unless it was a major issue and all were in.

One Monday morning i came in to an email about a pretty mundane issue that would have taken 1 helpdesk person less than an hour to fix but as it was a Glasgow issue the 3 managers managed to make it last all day Saturday. I was pretty sure I hit the forward button to my manager saying why did it take the 3 of them, esp as 2 of them have never touched the system BUT I actually hit reply all...

Thankfully i work in IT and know about the recall feature and thank fcuk it actually worked this time! as these 3 would gladly report it.

few months after I left, the 3 of them got in trouble for racist/sectarian langue on skype chat. the 2 junior managers were punted and the manager of them was moved. Sad i missed it.

  10. The Longhorns are sort of my team through work, and i am itching to see if Archie Manning can live up to the hype (needs to get a shot in front of Ewers) So i would like to see them win it all

I am really looking forward to seeing Alabama post Sabin. they lost a few players

  11. Each to their own, the things that @strichener doesn't like about Red Zone are the things that i do like about it.

I don't mind seeing the not very favourable teams completing their scoring drives, the favourable teams get a lot more coverage when no one is in the Red Zone. I don't mind seeing the scores, the only one I don't is the Bronco's game but i am usually watching that live so it doesn't matter.

As i have said above, out side of the playoffs and superbowl, I have no interest in watching the whole game of other teams but i do like the sport in general and red zone gives me the best opportunity to watch all.

I can understand people struggling with the early window when there is 8-9 games going on, the late window with 3-4 games is a much easier watch.

  12. Red zone is amazing, no adverts! What more do you want??

I will record the broncos games and fast forward the adverts but I have zero interest in watching say  patriots v panthers. Red zone allows me to watch the whole league at one time.

its not for everyone but to say its for people who don’t like the NFL is certainly a controversial take.

This is intriguing, because I spent years of listening to Dan Fouts talking down the Chargers at every opportunity, so the idea of pro-Chargers announcers is a novel one for sure.

One of the reasons I love the Padres home coverage. Don & Mud are absolutely brilliant listening. Pair of them are funny, insightful, irreverent, and pro-Padres without ever veering into making any sort of negative comment about any opposition team or player. Commentators around the world, especially those doing football commentary on Club TV etc could learn a lot by listening to Baseball announcers.

Normally i wouldn't bother seeking out preseason games but with Dazn giving it away for free and me being curious about Nix i though i would watch it. The colts commentators were fine but constantly gave opinions about Colts offense and defence. There was nothing derogatory about the Bronco's they just didn't mention us that often outside general commentary

i.e. Nix throughs to Sutton down the left sideline... they would then talk about the colts player who tackled him or was beaten by him.

I'll give this weeks a try when it is a Bronco's home game.

I removed my payment method so they couldn't auto renew this year. Still seems to be working fine though even though I haven't made a payment.

yeah preseason is free. Its like watching England games, the commentators are complete homers who don't give a fcuk about the away team.

i have a tremendous deal with Virgin, so its scott hanson and the red zone team for the next 2 years at least for me

Athens was by a distance the worst sunburn I've had in my entire life. Had to get one of my flatmates to apply after sun when I got back to London cause I couldn't bend my arms without near sobbing.

I also saw a boys brain more or less when he decked it down the steps, almost fell out a taxi window on the way to the game and nearly got in a fight with a laddie who was being racist to their centre forward.

All in all, a decent trip, I'd say.

The lad that fell down the stairs had his wee lassie with him???

There was a very drunk arsehole in front of us who thought it would be fun to chuck an empty bottle of water at the armed cops near us, w@nker.

The night before the game in the wee dram was outstanding!

we had heard all sorts of stories about the ultras and fights. we were supposed to meet up at some square to be escorted to the game but my pal and I thought it’ll be quicker to get the tube. Got off at the velodrome (which was in some state) and walked the 200-300 yards to the ground. Half way there about 100 fans on mopeds came heading towards us. They just nodded hello and carried on… I went and changed my pants!!!

the guy selling frozen water bottles outside the ground was a life saver. I bought 4 and all had melted by half time!

  16. I haven't listened to any of the new pod. Gregg has his reasons but it doesn't work without the others.

Heard a rumour that Gravedigger is coming back too as his Fox contract ends this week.

Candidates were given a deadline of noon on Sunday to submit their videos for it going live on Monday.

That said, it was quite a tight turnaround and people may have personal reasons or so for not getting it in on time. I believe that at least one of those missing has now submitted a video and the others have been asked again they wish to contribute. I think, don't quote me on this, the updated "hustings reel" should be online in the next day or two. Understandably given I'm up for re-election, I've not had anything to do with that side of things.

    appreciate the reply. thank you

I agree with all of this although also discounted anyone with the surname "Park".

I have a shortlist of about 6 people for my two remaining votes and that's with a couple still to submit their videos.

I wonder if any of the candidates would have interest in being on the club board rather than the society as we are very short of the 8 (?) people it should consist of

I am not voting for him, I get strong vibes he believes we should have accepted Barmark's offer.
