Lots of good performances today and they were needed! Rennie and Howie as mentioned showed up but (whisper it) Ross Lyon was very good too. Ballantyne still a major disappointment though IMO.
Feels great to have our fate in our own hands on the last day. Let’s hope we can see it over the line from here.

Why would the SPFL continue to engage with Buckie as recently as Tuesday and Wednesday with no mention of having missed the deadline and the playoff about to be canned.
It’s just overly officious and unnecessary to throw up a missed deadline of weeks ago which is also fairly irrelevant given they were in the process of addressing all areas of concern.

However if Buckie win (or receive a stay) in arbitration 2 legs of SF need squeezed back in before. That will be especially tricky for all the lads away on that stag do

The playoff should go ahead as planned and if Buckie win then no promotion for EK either IMO.

Perhaps Scottish cup entry requirements should also be brought in line with SPFL entry requirements to stop teams getting plumb ties at Celtic park but deliberately blocking the pyramid.

What a farce, tickets already sold for the game on Saturday.

I think that Ross Lyon has shown a marked improvement of late.
I would phrase it more along the lines of slightly less shite.

Kinnear
Lyon Howie Hamilton McGinn
Cuddihy Grant
Scullion Rennie Kabia
Allan
When Leitch got injured on Saturday we seemed to push Ballantyne into the number 10 position but could it be worth trying Rennie in there playing off Allan? He is a penalty box player so we are getting very little from him out wide, that’s for sure.
Leslie looked good when he came on too but from McCalls comments post match sounds like he’ll be used for impact from the bench.

A few changes to the team I'd want us to stick out this week.
- Kinnear -
- Cuddihy - Hamilton - Howie - Lyon -
- Leitch - Ballantyne - Grant - Scullion -
- Young - Allan -
I've obviously set the above out as a 442 but ideally you'd want Leitch and Scullion to play higher and Young and Allan to play off of each other with one coming short. It really is time to get Rennie out the team. He's so ineffective and imho McCall has persisted with him for too long. He just mopes about, barely engaging with the game and the excuse of 'well he's normally good for a goal' is well gone. Connor Young showed more in his brief cameo against Stenny than Rennie showed the full rest of the game and I feel like Young and Allan would really suit playing together.
I'd also be temped to pull Howie out of the team and replace him with Sula after his insane, goal-conceding, two-point-dropping antics last weekend. I also really like Logan Dunachie and would be more than happy with him replacing Cuddihy at right back.
McCall seemed on Saturday to stick rigidly to his 4-2-3-1 setup and when he did make changes it was still within that formation. Young didn’t come on to partner Allan in a 2 as such.
From your lineup I suspect Leitch will be injured and I’d like to see Ballantyne dropped (but doubt it will happen). Lyon at LB is possible given the Alex King has disappeared (injured?) and McGinn did not look great there last week.
Personally I would persevere with McGinn and put Lyon in at RB to allow Cuddihy into midfield but who knows what McCall will pick out of the tombola.

No team going down to the LL is going to be able to attract the calibre of player they had in SPFL's bottom tier. It's amazing Albion Rovers are even ninth.
If EK can attract players from the Championship I’m sure (with enough £££s) it could be done. Plus for us it wouldn’t be hard to beat the calibre of player we’ve had for most of the season.

Sure but that would likely happen to whoever comes down.
If anyone wants to plunder our players good luck to them.

Ultimately it is who wants it. Next weeks game is very winnable. But it has to be won, no ifs or buts.
Elgin away, assuming it still matters, is tough. Again they have nothing to play for but the performances are too erratic to be confident.
Sad situation and wishing you 100%.
Next week is the key one for me. If we can win at home to east fife whilst Stranraer face a long away trip to Forfar that will put us in the driving seat ahead of the last day (assuming Stranraer don’t also win).

Damage limitation from our point of view keeping Stranraer in reach, thanks for not losing!

How long is it going to be before McCall realises Ballantyne is a waste of space, 12 games he played , and he’d be lucky if he could average 2 out 10 , hard to believe he has played football at any level, yet doesn’t seem to get subbed.
In an afternoon of below par performances his was absolutely stinking. No idea how he lasted the 90mins but was almost the match winner missing that point blank chance at the end.
We are getting nothing out of Martin Rennie playing wide right, he needs to be a strike partner for Allan but McCall didn’t deviate from the formation at all to make that happen.
Lost count of how many times our players got in each others way, in particular the midfield 3 of Grant, Ballantyne and Cuddihy.
Felt as if Stenny were ok but could have been there for the taking, we didn’t do enough to make that happen though.
Not a complete disaster thanks mainly to Dumbarton not losing but heaps the pressure onto next week where a win really is a must.

Stenny’s last 3 games being us, Bonnyrigg and stranraer is going to have a massive say in things.
Clyde (31 pts):
Stenny (H), East Fife (H), Elgin (A)
Stranraer (32 pts):
Dumbarton (H), Forfar (A), Stenny (H)
Bonnyrigg (35 pts):
Spartans (H), Stenny (A), Forfar (H)
Really think we need 6 points from the 2 home games and probably at least a point at Elgin last day. Stranraer could easily take 7 points from their games which would mean we need all 9 to overhaul them.
Would be devastating to have closed such a gap only to fall short at the final hurdle but it’s going to be really tight.
One other factor is Forfar (36 pts) they play East Fife at home tomorrow. If Forfar lose that with Stranraer and Bonnyrigg still to play they could be dragged in. Realistically though can’t see us catching them.

A win tomorrow is an absolute must, in fact if results don’t go our way then beating the runaway leaders might only be good enough to maintain the current deficit . Hoping that Dumbarton can do us a favour but I’ve already got that down as +3 for Stranraer.

Anyone know why there was no sign of Alex King yesterday? Injury I assume but no mention in the match preview. Not that I’m his biggest fan but the conditions yesterday may have suited him as he’s not afraid to shoot.

I’d love to hear McCalls explanation for leaving Robbie Leitch on the bench all game and bringing that diddy Cameron on at half time! Absolutely mental. Thought Kabia was one of our better players first half too and had a bit of quality at times so no idea why he was hooked either.

Is a 92nd minute fluke against Stranraer called "winning"?
If you were actually at the game you would know we battered them and 1-0 flattered them if anything.
You’re a poor man’s Jimmy choo (or his latest burner account) and Billy Reid is a bellend.

Todays game was a total lottery because of the wind, yes the other results weren’t ideal but after 1 small set back all the fannies come crawling out of the woodwork again. We’ve gone from 11 points behind to having a fighting chance of staying up. Give us peace FFS and get behind the team in the next two home games.

Unlucky with Grant hitting the post and Allan’s goal looking onside. Dreadful conditions throughout made the game a total lottery.
Real battle remaining over the last 3 games with both rivals getting points today. Would be a real blow to have reeled them in only to let them off the hook at the last.

I see the broomhill game was off last weekend, what chance the pitch is playable?
Could we switch it to dens park to improve the odds?

Another 4-4 would do rightly.
