  1. I’m not totally convinced. We’re up a league and he hasn’t shown much, and his attitude/body language haven’t been convincing. Bakayoko has been way more effective and surely Mellon has to be rated above him too? We’ve swapped Rudden for Main and so far it doesn’t look like much of an upgrade.
If it stays like this until the end of the season, and given the choice, I’d sign Bakayoko and send Robinson home. He has a chance to change my opinion of course.

What a hit to win it as well. A beauty in contrast to that hideous green away strip. A very good evening's entertainment  Lol. Lmao.

They’re a bunch of guys past their sell by dates and thugs. If they do come up it’s another massive rebuilding job and millions of pounds. Glorious.

We only have 14 fixtures remaining in the season, and lets face it, if we do make top 6 then it's likely we'll scrape it and be isolated from St.Mirren and Kilmarnock, rendering the final 5 fixtures pretty much dead rubbers. So more than likely only 9 really meaningful matches to play, and I think we can manage without one more player when we already have 6 or 7 capable of playing that position.

And yes, I accept that fighting for points = money and we aren't totally out of the relegation picture yet etc etc, but being realistic, it looks like we'll likely either be comfortable in 7th-9th, or scrape 6th and be well adrift of 4th and 5th.

I'm not giving up on catching one of them. I'm expecting a strong finish to the season.

Docherty in the pre-march press conference saying that he’s hoping that Portales, Pineda, Mellon, Howley and Reilly will all be available from next week. He did claim Lamie was just around the corner for about 3 weeks before he played on Sunday, but that’s excellent news to potentially be back up to near full strength as soon as next week.

Also said Main should be back in the squad for Saturday, had a nasty chest infection but is past it now.

It is, probably quite slim but doable. Need to make up 6 or 7 points on Killie and St Mirren with a game in hand, or hope one of the teams above us win the Cup (which IMO looks very likely) in which case we just need to catch one of them, and you’d imagine it’d be tough for both of them to keep their momentum going the entire way.

Of course we’ll need to be better than at least one of them over the remaining time before the split which is a tough ask (personally not yet convinced we’re favourites to crack the top six tbh, always the pessimist lol) but again, doable. The fact we could be up to pretty much full strength come next week though is encouraging.

I am getting on a bit but I was on the verge of asking ‘who is Main’.
Kinda suggests his impact has not been memorable !!

  5. Hard to say how good Portales is. Yes we’ve missed him but we’ve also had Beck and Lamie missing, Coco in goals for part of 1 game, all during a tough run of fixtures. Has he been unlucky or is he made of plasticine? I like the exotic nature of the Mexican experiment though so happy to keep him regardless. I think his Champions League aspirations are slim, probs his best chance is a strong finish to this season with us and a move to the OF.

    Thank you.

Saturday will probably come too early for Lamie to start so I'd be going:

    Carson

    McGhee Astley Shaughnessy Donnelly Beck

    Cameron Sylla

    McCowan Bakayoko Costelloe

Tiffoney isn't upto it IMO and Astley has to be fit by now. Should be enough to beat the Dingwall which is a must if top six is to come off.

    Thank you.

Tweek it slightly, no Astley, put McGhee in the three at the back, with Mulligan RWB.

    Thank you.

Agree re Tiffoney and either of those line ups are fine but I really wouldn’t mind Ashcroft in for Astley as Cunty could be pretty direct and physical and he hasn’t really let us down.

Hendo must be Eric Nicholson with this absolutely atrocious take.

He’s a p***k. Unbelievable. Why do these people think all sports have immediate attention for head knocks? Is it because they’re not life threatening or because they are? A ridiculous challenge by a player, in a team managed by someone who used to inflict head injuries on his own teammates, so we should perhaps not be surprised.

If Beck goes back to Liverpool, Captains them to 10+ EPL titles, half-a-dozen Champions Leagues, and bags a few Ballon d'Or for himself, then I might, might just grudgingly concede he's almost on a par with peak Jim Duffy.

One of the problems he might have is he’s a scouser and a dyed in the wool red, with the family history on top. If he does go on to the level we all expect it might be difficult for him to leave Anfield, consequently his success becomes intrinsically linked to that of the club.

So , serious question, I know he’s only played a relatively small number of matches but where does Beck rank in our recent and all time list of full backs, or even defenders in general. Certainly in my 25ish years of going to Dens I can’t think of another defender who could win 1 v 1s so consistently that you’re just not bothered when you see an opposition forward trying to take him on.

Its like the certainty of seeing Greg Stewart cut in on his left foot on the edge of the box, but for a defender.

Davo just edges it for me but young Owen not too far behind.

The closest I have seen at Dens to Beck was Tosh McKinlay - he should have played at a higher level than Celtic but attacking wing backs were not such an important part of the game in those days.

I do think it is a penalty fwiw, Gordon kinda just slaps Bakayoko in the face which on its own doesn't look too bad, but that and holding his head down while the ball is going right to where his head would've been otherwise and then using Bakayoko's shoulders to jump up, shows that Gordon is preventing a clear goalscoring opportunity. I can see others disagreeing but I think it's the correct decision and would feel the same if the shoe was on the other foot... and also I don't care lol

Who is the specky git in the background?
