  1. I support Dundee but why the hell do Rangers fans care about United? How can you be so upset about something that happened five years ago, although I suppose you still bang on about stuff from centuries ago so it makes sense. You should go and annoy the Celtic fans instead of the faux hatred for United. And "yooz", seriously?
  2. Set my alarm an hour late to buy my daughter a strip today and all sold out d'oh. Good marketing though as I wouldn't have rushed to buy one without the day before thing.
  3. SC is an absolutely amazing signing. He's obviously been affected by issues, otherwise he wouldn't be in the Scottish Premiership, never mind Dundee. Good luck to him and it shows the enthusiasm Neil McCann has that it rubbed off on someone of such calibre to commit to us.
  4. I would say we should all read this article, see how moaning can affect player and performance then apply it to O'Dea to see how he could possibly be affected.
  5. I'm hoping I'm not the only one, but is anyone else happy with ginger? Honestly think we're going to end up loving him and vice versa
  6. Let's be honest; it's because he allegedly supported Dundee then wound up the Dundee fans as an Arab. It's also because he has bright ginger hair so he stands out and is an easy target. It should be pretty easy to control; all he'd really need to do is come out and say he can't wait to play for Dundee, he'll give his all and that anything that happened in the past was "banter" which happened in the heat of the moment. On the flip-side though, as a professional you must know that your career is fluid and it might literally take you anywhere. If you "get it up fans" of a team you end up signing for you need to be big enough to accept the ramifications. Ultimately, we want him to do well for Dundee's sake and he wants to do well for his sake. As much as he seems annoying, he also seems like the sort of player fans love in their own team but hate in a rival. People have been in much worse situations and won over the fans and hopefully he does the same.
  7. The best you can say is that McCann and the board are doing the best for Dundee with all things considered. Bain is obviously disruptive and Hendry wanted to go. Look at the Mahrez situation, would we want an unhappy player potentially refusing to play or playing half heartedly? We're not in a position to knock back good money. Ultimately, even if Dundee get half a million for him, his sale is worth about 1,500 season tickets. I liked Allan and the way he plays, but how much has he actually played and contributed to Dundee's points tally this year. Here's to Simon Murray, just a pity there's history there that he brought on himself.
  8. Feel rotten for McCann. It shows his commitment and professionalism to turn up today. All the best to him in such a difficult period. I remember his dad gave us a couple of tickets outside Somerset Park when McCann was playing for Dundee over twenty years ago.
  9. I don't mind the basis of the tweet but don't like the shamrock at the end!
  10. I don't think anyone in Scottish football has the imagination to attempt something like this, although I think it would be a winner; even if only initially due to the novelty.
  11. Could this work for ticket pricing in Scotland? Baseball remains to this day one of the most popular sports in America and going to a match is a national pastime. Still, some games are a great deal more popular than others. For the New York Mets, a Saturday night game against their cross-town rivals, the New York Yankees, will have a great deal more natural demand than a mid-week game against a low-performing team from the other side of the country. And yet, for years, the price of a ticket at most baseball matches was based solely on the location of the ticket in the stadium rather than what the actual demand for the game was. How- ever, this is changing across Major League Baseball and nowhere more so than at Wrig- ley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs. Here, yield management, often referred to as ‘dynamic pricing’, is being used to set ticket prices for games. So now, rather than hav- ing a ‘face value’ for a specific seat location within Wrigley Field, prices fluctuate daily based on ‘changing market factors’, as the team website states. So what are these fac- tors? There are two that appear to dominate their approach to pricing – the day of the week and the opponent. First, prices of tickets rise steadily through the week, with a Monday game averaging just $27 in the bleachers (the section of the stadium where analysis has been carried out), whilst a Saturday game ticket averages around $76. On Sunday, the price falls back to $46. The opponent is also key to dynamic pricing too. Games against the Boston Red Sox and the Chicago White Sox fetch the highest average ticket prices given the prestige of the former and the local rivalry of the latter. Conversely, tick- ets for (apologies to their fans!) games against the Atlanta Braves and the Milwaukee Brewers averaged just $19 and $16. So for those with limited resources, go to a mid-week game against lowly opposition; for those who can’t skip work, go to a Sunday game; and for those where money is no object, enjoy Saturday night against the mighty Boston Red Sox!
  12. Not just that, having a smaller stadium that gets filled (or at least has a chance of getting filled) breeds more demand. If you have a big stadium you know you don't need to buy a season ticket or an advanced ticket to guarantee entry, you can just decide last minute. If you have a smaller stadium with a good atmosphere where you're not guaranteed to get in then people would be more inclined to buy season tickets etc. So smaller stadium = more demand = better atmosphere. This would be especially true if United were in the same league as us (preferably the top league!)
  13. This brought back great memories...http://dundeefc.co.uk/news/played-dundee-rangers-claudio-caniggia/
  14. That's why he said "formally" and not "formerly"
  15. Can I ask for some info please? For the Beer Festival today, the website says you can buy tickets at the ticket office; but can you buy them at the door on the day? Also, is there any lower age limit? We were going to take a toddler to see one of the bands. Thanks in advance
  16. I'm bringing my daughter down from Aberdeen for this, maybe I should reconsider
  17. Every team gets pumped inc Man U, Barcelona, Arsenal and even Brazil. Sometimes it can be a good thing (as long as it's not regular obviously). I think we'll be OK
