Same here. Bullen strikes me as being good at coaching but struggles hugely with tactics, especially if the need for a plan B occurs.
How do you measure coaching?

Why would they sign a target man when Mark McKenzie is right there?

Never had an easier trip to Somerset. We absolutely bossed it. It was like a training game for us. Ayr chased shadows all night and couldn’t get the ball. And to think we left out four from our strongest line up out too. Shocked how easy it was TBH.
Wouldn't get too excited yet

Did Bullen just sub a striker off for a defender after the red card to protect a 1-0 defeat?

Bullen probably believes that if Murphy hadn't been injured everything would be fine

Things to like about that lineup. Let's hope it works out.

I would have more time for Bullen if he was able to articulate or demonstrate a plan for success. If he had any eleven players in the world how would they play? What is his plan to compete with specific opponents? What is the team's identity, the thing we do better than anyone else? Results haven't been awful overall, but it's tough to find anything to grab on to that you can say is exciting or particularly encouraging.

The biggest indictment of the way Bullen's teams play is that people who have literally spent years or decades watching Ayr United find it unacceptable. It's not people who are coming from watching Barcelona or Brighton.
The proof is in the attendances.

Might be a good manager though

I don’t really see what sacking Bullen achieves at this point. Would only add more instability with yet another caretaker period for Dave White than another period of trying to get a new manager settled in. We’d be better advised to focus on getting the new midfielders up to speed and trying to find another striker. If the new guys turn out to be sub standard and we stick with Rose and McKenzie up front, I think we’re doomed whoever is in charge.
The quicker you change manager the better the chance a new guy can make a difference before it's too late. Speaking generally, not saying Bullen should be fired.

See thistle put a gameday highlights video up yesterday which looked pretty slick.
Surely beyond the wit of a team at this level???

Some people seem to think football recruitment is a mystic art and success or failure is almost random, but it's far more likely that teams at this level just don't do it well.

How much of this year's playing budget is being spent on players who aren't at the club?

Can't expect them to win at Arbroath given the disparity in resources.

Yes, it's amazing how many seem to think that if we sign some known Scottish Championship journeymen that we will somehow be guaranteed success and will play some great entertaining stuff into the bargain.
People just react to the last thing that they feel didn't work.
Ultimately, while not every signing will pan out you would still expect skilled professionals to have a decent hit rate in terms of successes to failures. Otherwise you'd be cheaper replacing them with a dartboard and chucking arrows to decide who signs.

Surely Chalmers *is* the Ashford replacement?

Saw Barcelona started a sixteen year old at the weekend. Sometimes you just need to give good young players a chance instead of waiting on mythical and nebulous 'development'.

Such a bleak Outlook. Have a Word with yourself.
Not all Teams Excel.
One Drive to an away game, failed to SharePoint(s), then no Access to the starting xi. It's a sad story.

I get what you're saying Buky but it's quite something for it to happen in football, especially for a guy on a two year deal.
Would go so far as to say it almost never happens

As much as I was joking it would be a little annoying. They'd see the manager being poached as some proof of success and try find someone who wants to do the same awful stuff. I think we need him to be sacked to divert from Davie's hoofball dream.
Boss gets what the boss wants.

Would be crazy to let Bullen leave after filling the squad with players for his system.

Would be fun to see a banner based on what the Lyon fans told their players at the weekend there...
You’re the ones who wear the Ayr jersey. Others before you have worn it, glorified it. You don’t have the right to tarnish it.
