  1. That one annoyed me at the time, but no more than any other time someone used the risible 'no divine right' line. Biggest straw man ever.
  2. The fact that Talbot start players that were previously released by Ayr for being useless at a level below where the team now plays is a pretty easy indicator of the relative merits of the squads.
  3. He also seems to imply that he (or someone) will be leaking information after Saturday, which makes no sense.
  4. Enjoyed the first one, but no way I'm listening to ten minutes of chat about how much Ian McCall will help Partick Thistle. I'll try again next week.
  5. A cynic might suggest we had half a good season last year and three quarters of a good season the year before. Not even a quarter of a good season yet this year. We've also suffered inarguably the worst result in the club's history during that period. Things look positive now, but if McCall had stayed all season and suffered the same winter slump then lots of people would have been suggesting a change at that point.
  6. Strain or Sloan are the kind of names we would expect the team to consider if we were struggling in league one. We should be taking advantage of the club's present circumstances to hire someone better.
  7. McBookie saying Maurice Ross backed in from 16/1 to 8/1 today and have added Graeme Mathie to their list. These markets are like free money for a bookie, they must love it.
  8. Would imagine Clark and McCoist would be considered unqualified even if they hadn't both tainted themselves by their choice of previous employer. Given the combination it's a no-brainer to toss their applications straight in the fire.
  9. I mean, that's about the most offensive thing you could've said.
  10. My recollection is that Hughes had been dropped due to poor performances, but got back into the team for Hampden when Mark Campbell blew his knee out.
  11. May as well put us out of our misery and shut the club down now if that's the best options out there.
  12. He did say they will only be considering internal candidates and people who apply, so did not expect to be paying compensation to anyone.
  13. Sure, but if he wanted to be a coach would he not be doing some coaching? The role he has might be the area he prefers to work in?
  14. That was a long time ago though. I'm struggling to think of many times a manager has left a club and the next manager was an internal candidate and it was a huge success. Maybe Walter Smith at the old Rangers?
  15. Wildcard candidate could be James McFadden. Been coaching with Scotland so may have interest in a management career. He's inexperienced so likely to accept Sandy Stewart as first team coach and his name could be a draw for players that grew up watching him for Scotland which would help him get a foot in the door with recruitment.
  16. To be fair, it was only the Scottish cup that gave McCall trouble and mostly because we enter during the annual winter swoon.
  17. It's quite amusing that the Ayr Advertiser lists Derek Adams as a 'former Kilmarnock striker'. To my recollection he played (briefly) for Ayr but never Kilmarnock?
  18. That's fine for the first team in the short term, but how is he at recruiting new players, running the other parts of the club, dealing with the board, etc?
