Will Vaulks.....Our Last Hero. His amazing own goal header up at Forfar in a pre-season game will live on with me forever. It was a cracker.
Think that might have been Loy’s first game (and goal) too.

It was Loy`s first game and he scored. Was Will Vaulk`s OG a spectacular backwards header????

*Edited to add, just found out this pic is not his og!!*

Some of my favourite ever players.
Tiger was the smallest but toughest ever full back
Johnny Graham my favourite ever goal scorer.
John Markie not the tallest centre half but always got his head to the ball.
Any Bairn who was present will remember Billy Fulton's 25 yarder in the bottom corner for a 1-0 win over Celtic at the Hope Street end.
(Just missing Geordie Gibson and Willie Wigham for my all time favourites.

Strangely enough, I was thinking of that very game v Celtic when I posted the pic yesterday. In my mind he was about 35 yds out and it flew like a rocket at ankle height into the net but my recollection might be totally wrong??

Found Geordie in the archives too.😉

Johnny Graham.....what can you say about him? Utter class.....for me he was our equivalent of Charlie Nicholas, and probably every bit as talented. Johnny, Fergie, and George Gibson were my real heroes back then.

I`ve been trying to think of another player with similar abilities to Johnny for some years without success but I think you got that comparison spot on. Definitely my favourite outfield player. The others you mention are in my top 5 also, along with Tiger and Willie Whigham.

Always good to see pics of the old dear, and that one is a beaut; but it got me thinking back to the times that fans would change ends at half-time, crossing via that wee wooden bridge next to the choir. Bizzare!!  Seriously, did we do that at any other grounds?   Greenock,  maybe?? The old Rugby Park?  Certainly don't ever remember doing changing ends at EEP.

It was a regular occurrence at most grounds (outside of Ibrox and Parkhead) in the 60`s to see a mass migration from behind one goal up to the other at half time.

On an unrelated note - horrific to think that Yogi was basically begging to be our manager right before we appointed McCracken and Miller. If we had given it to him there's a very decent chance we'd not have this navel gazing about that failure Pressley and would instead be talking about our chances of making the playoffs in the Championship.

He had no chance of getting appointed by the existing Board at that time......nor would he have taken it while they were still in place.

Yeah I realise that just wondered at why his dad's  plans never saw the light of day.

I think that may be because he wanted to build the Falkirk Stadium and all that was planned for the surrounding area but the Council plumped for Mowlem and then the money ran out?

If Eddie May had admitted in September that he wasn't cut out for it and stepped back I'd have respect for him.

But no, he blundered on until February and blamed losses on him not praying hard enough to the big man upstairs.

    f**k Eddie May.

My understanding is that he resigned after a 1-3 loss to St Johnstone in Perth in October but the Board persuaded him to carry on.

Have watched Falkirk since the mid 60's and there are a handful of Falkirk players that I can honestly say got me on the tips of my toes in anticipation when they got the ball. George Miller - Alex Scott - Kevin McAllister - Simon Stainrod - Russell Latapy - Anthony Stokes. All had subline skill and the confidence in their ability to pull it off. Different style of players with different skills but all class all the same.

    Not "Johnny G" ???

I thought McPherson was still at Dumbarton is he not?

He was but left last January for a coaching position at Rangers Academy.....it looks like he took up a position with Drumchapel Utd in April  but is also named in the Rangers Academy re-structuring in June 2020 so can`t be certain if he`s "juggling" the two or not.

Absolutely no chance, our ex employee who claims to be a die hard fan who went south to run one of the best English academies, and now runs the sevco set up, will give us f... all period.

There`s also another two ex Falkirk employees who work in their Academy structure....Craig McPherson & Creag Robertson.

    9 - 317 Appearances

Over a decade from the late 50's to the late 60's. Not a player I'm familiar with, but he must have done something right to stick around for so long. Scored 8 times.

    John Hunter.

PS The first of our heroes to pass the 300 game barrier.

"Bunts"... solid no frills left back.
