  1. Tranent fast out the traps in a complete reverse of previous games.   At 2-0 was fearing the worst, a penalty from Stowe brought us back into the game.

2nd half Tranent had no answer to Linlithgow who won every challenge and chased every ball.  Docherty at times was unplayable.

For me McKenzie at times looked exposed at Right Back, but to his credit his head never dropped and he just worked harder to put in another good shift.

Today our young team came of age and in the end deserved winners.

Was stood talking to a scout from Cowdenbeath last night, his eyes where on Stowe he was telling me and the folk around him

Stowe to Cowdenbeath, that would be a shock as I thought his career was on the up...!!!

I thought last night started like a typical end of season fixture, thankfully it warmed up.

Heaver, Thomson and Allison were the pick for me.  With probably Heaver my MoM for his non stop efforts.

It was also good to see both sides with a good number of kids supporting their local sides.  With an excellent 20 aside match on the hill at half time.

Not so sure about their singing though 🤣🤣 maybe we should buy them a drum..!!

End result was about right and another final to look forward to.

was a cheap foul to give away for free kick and ball shouldve been lumped forward before Tranent got the penalty too. avoidable

    Very true.

Herd in his after match interview said similar.  A young team learning the hard way.

I think over the season has shown there is very little between Tranent / Penicuik / Linlithgow.

You can't deny Tranent their draw tonight although a last minute penalty is a bit of a sickener. What I'd like to know about our first goal though is....

If you're rounding the keeper and get brought down for a penalty, surely it's a red card? A game changer.

I'm sure the rule is something around not penalising the player twice penalty / sending off.  However my limited understanding thinks he should have still been booked?

Overall a draw was a fair result. Albeit a bitter pill from 2-0 up.

That said I thought the ref spoiled the game with blowing for a foul for every bit of contact and not allowing it to flow.

Rose were on a great run but that's a few bad results recently.

What's the cause of this dip in form ? Poor defending, tactics or injuries ?

After Inverkeithing, we have started to make wholesale changes every week.

John Millar stated today changes aren't the issue and he has confidence in the squad. Whilst I appreciate that view.

Surely if you have confidence you don't need 5 changes every week.  You should start with your strongest available and if needed use your subs to change or freshen.

We have not become a bad team, we have however lost our mojo.

Every confidence we can still salvage something from the season.

I didnt see it but was told by an ex Rose player that it was a flying elbow and stone wall red card.

You slated the performance at Hill of Beath and then query why we made changes. How many of those dropped had injuries ?

No I didn't slate the performance at HoB.  We're you even there?

My point on rotation has been consistently one of not being a fan.  I would prefer where possibly to watch our strongest 11 start, with the use of subs.

In recent games we have been slow getting into any rhythm - again last night Sauchie started stronger and we grew into the game.

Did like the comment on Rose fans FB page where someone didn't think Thom should have been sent off for elbowing an opponent in the head as it was so close to half time 😂

Interesting, suggestion was Thom barged his opponent in passing - followed by an exaggerated collapse from the Sauchie player.

Can't argue either way as didn't see the incident.

Thom again has cost the club dear with his actions in a big game.

    Baur's actions beyond stupid.

For me the question is why again we are changing 5 players for every game - we should always start with our strongest 11.

  8. It would be easy to focus on the most inept ref I've seen in  long time.

But that would be unfair to forget the actions of Thom and Baur who sold their team mates down the river.

Thom for being suckered into a red and Baur for his expletives at the Ref.

Fair play to Sauchie they constantly conned throughout to their advantage.

With all that it was easy to forget a spirited performance of the 9 man Rose.  With Riley being an absolute standout.

Yet another 5 changes to our starting 11 saw a slow start as our players settled  into the game.

Unfortunately as we started to play Thom / Baur ruined it.

Congratulations to Sauchie, sometimes the dark arts does reap rewards.

You’re absolutely right, the lady on the gate was subject to disgraceful abuse from a small minority of away fans regarding concessions.

The HAWS arranged in advance free entry for a future game for all their regular concessions and the away team were compensated all as per Ground Hop UK instructions

I heard the HAWS Secretary spoke to the EoS Officials in the ground about the abuse and the concession rule, also the visiting club Secretary, we’ll see if they do anything ???!!!

Didn’t spoil a fantastic night at Keirs Park, but left a bad taste on the mouth how the lady, who is a volunteer, was treated.

As a Linlithgow fan it disappoints me to hear this, it's unacceptable to abuse anyone just doing their job.

I would also say the whole concept of groundhop day isn't something the majority of our supporters would know anything about.

It's certainly not something that was well advertised by our club.  Indeed it was only the Saturday morning I even realised the kick off wasn't until 7.45 pm. Many didn't attend for that reason.

Seriously? You're only 1pt off top, best GD, with 7 games left including 3 against your fellow contenders!

Having seen all 3 competitors yesterday I felt there actually wasn't that much between any of them performance-wise: certainly Penicuik and Linlithgow (as Tranent did look sharper upfront).

Hill of Beath were excellent - really on their game.

Your last sentence is key, yes HoB we're excellent.

We  didn't match enoough the endeavour shown by HoB - it's games like last night where Championships are won and lost.  By winning ugly

  11. Deepest darkest Fife, again left with nothing.

We didn't compete well enough in midfield and lost to many battles.  Sometimes you need match fire with fire.

3-1 no real complaints we just didn't get going tonight.

Not sure I agreed with our starting 11, with another rotation of the squad.  I'm a great one for consistency, especially when playing well.

    Winning the league looks unlikely.

  12. Finished 5-1 with Sneddon adding another couple after coming on as a sub.

Rose started slowly on another plastic pitch, never my favourite surface to watch a game.

However once they caught the pace and bounce we produced some excellent football, with Thomson again an absolute pleasure to watch.

Also thought the Ref was excellent and let the game flow and spoke to players rather than just dishing out bookings.

Good to see us back to some form, which dipped slightly in recent games.

Have just read of presentation made to the club in memory of Chairman Iain Muirhead by Beith Juniors last Saturday. Class is a word loosely used at times but for me in this instance it is a case of True Class. Well done Beith Juniors a credit to your town.

Such gestures are priceless, well done Beith.

  14. Wasn't there today, so my only observation from the highlights are 4 horrendous mistakes cost us dear.

My other observation is we continue to rotate players and not sure if this is through choice or availability. Always a great believe you don't fix what's not broken unless you have to.

McPherson has disappeared from the squad in recent weeks.

In his after match comments John Millar also made reference around availability.

I went to todays game as a neutral and didn't leave thinking the pitch had a major bearing on today's result.

A draw would have been a fairer result with the home sides winner coming at a time when they were getting consistently pinned back for probably the first time in the game.

An entertaining game for the neutral with a few of the home sides young players showing up well.

    Interesting view.

As a neutral you aren't seeing beyond today's game and what you watched.

If you had seen either team in previous weeks your view may have changed.

Rose in recent weeks have been superb and good to watch.

Not taking anything from Swifts as they were excellent today.

But personally I hate plastic pitches

You'll get some fright if you get promoted to Lowland next season: literally more than half the teams play on artificial turf (10 from 18 currently plus Bonnyrigg and Vale are among the 8 grass).

As with our game at Broxburn we took time to adjust to the bounce.

Personally I've never been a fan of artificial surfaces, for me they are glorified training pitches. With some better than others.

Unfortunately such surfaces are now becoming increasingly common.

As for the game Swifts efforts from start to finish, won them 3 points.  Yes Linlithgow weren't at their best and despite that still had enough possession to have taken something from the game.

A 21 game run in any league is a tremendous achievement and I'm sure today's result will galvanise us for the remainder of the season.

It's based on a local annual holiday for the miners of Bo'ness that long predates the children's fair, which was brought in because the miners' holiday had traditionally been used as an opportunity to get absolutely trollied.
    https://ichscotland.org/wiki/boness-childrens-fair-festival
The Bo'ness Fair takes place annually, generally at the end of June when the school term ends. The Fair as we know it came into being in 1897 but can trace its roots to the Mines Emancipation Act of 1779 which freed miners from the serfdom or virtual slavery under which they and their families lived. They took a holiday from work on a Friday and the Fair has been held on a Friday ever since. The earliest fairs turned into drunken parades...
It actually wasn't until 1799 that the miners were really freed from serfdom and my Bo'ness United supporting grandfather's take was always that things weren't hugely better in the 1800s because although they could theoretically get other jobs without getting prosecuted in practice it was still very difficult to do so if you came from a mining family.

Wow! For once Deanburn's answer was adequate...

That's probably as high a compliment you could reach for Deanburn..!!
