  1. I've enjoyed reading the books, got them all at the end of April and I am on the last book now. Found them pretty engrossing, Martin does have a habit of over describing things and some of the chapters are nothing but filler but I've enjoyed none the less. Feast for crows as the weakest book by far but has picked up again in Dance with Dragons be interesting to see just how close the show sticks to the books now as I suspect they'll only get another season or season half out the books and Martin seems in no rush to finish the next book.
  2. Deep dive is the one I really hate and unfortunately its used all the time in my work. If you work in finance then the corporate bull is unavoidable especially the American banks. Some folk really buy into and can speak fluent corporate nonsense. Our company has its own internal version of facebook and its full of posts like that. I have no idea what the point of half the posts are and I doubt the person writting it even knows doesn't stop another 4 or 5 arseholes liking the status though.
  3. Was a great finish to the season but do feel too many of the interesting characters have been killed off this season. The hound's story arc had dried up recently but felt there would still have been much they could have done with Tywin. Dany's scene started almost the exact same as about another 3 or 4 with all her titles and then some random asking for something. A lot of progress for Bran, Arry and Stannis.
  4. Was a good episode not quite up there with other episode 9's from previous season. Surely they won't leave Tyrion's fate till next season? I am just reading the books the now and that's the first episode where I've read about it before seeing it. Quite a few differences between the book and the telly.
  5. The fight at the end was great but other than that was a lot of filler. Oberyn Martell was a great character as well pity he didn't last longer. The grey worm stuff was just boring.
  6. Wasn't that great an episode some decent scenes with Tyrion and then the end scene. But the hound and arya part went over old ground as we already know how the hound got his scar and the part with brienne and hot pie could have been much shorter. Dany's story hasn't advanced at all this season. The next episode should be epic though but a two week delay
  7. The amount of advertise has been a joke so good to see they cut them down significantly. Was a good episode again and tied up some plot points. Surprised that the trial hasnt featured at all yet.
  8. Really enjoyed this and can only echo the above comments. Would be really disappointed if the above is true and they go down the route of a case of the week type format.
  9. The second one is fake too. It's from another film he was in called Pandorum.
  10. I had big problems with this last year and the only thing that finally fixed it was to stop running for about 4 weeks and rest. I stupidly kept running without cutting back on distance and totally knackered it. I tried the foam rollers and exercises but the damage was already done by that point.
  11. The Wolverine 8/10 Much better than the first solo wolverine film. The number of mutants is dialled back and the first half builds up a decent story. It's really only the ending which is a let down as it descends into normal comic book fair.
  12. Exactly the same thing I was thinking! I've only been out running twice this month. Will pick it up again in the New year.
  13. Went to the Strathclyde parkrun this morning, first time I have run for 6 weeks. Enjoyed it but not surprisingly my time was awful. That's 48 parkruns done 2 go now till I enter the 50 club
  14. I actually enjoyed the hardcore mode in New Vegas and don't see why they couldn't keep it as an option for the next one or just give the player the option to set stuff like weight limit etc.
  15. Love Fallout 3 and New Vegas is one of the few games I would consider getting the new console to be able to play.
  16. Cheers for that, I gave those exercises a try tonight and will get a foam roller as well.
  17. Unlucky mate, very frustrating when something out with your control spoils it after months of training. Watched the video you posted up crossing the finish line didn't look too pleased I went to Strathclyde parkrun on Saturday felt fine before it and was ok during knee maybe a wee bit sore. Went to the Clyde game later that day and the knee was really tight again had to hobble up the hill back to Broadwood farm. Pretty sure its my IT band from speaking to runners at work but their advice and that on the internet varies from place to place. I've been doing some exercises strength my core to hopefully save the knees a bit and some exercises to stretch the IT band although some places say its like a bit of leather can't be stretched out.
  18. I probably entered too many races this year, so I will just be concentrating on completing my 50th Parkrun by the end of the year. I have been stuck on 46 for a couple of months now. Will hopefully be able to use all the half marathon training etc. to record a new PB at 5k distance. Edinburgh Parkrun is ok, flat course but it is always very busy which can cause problems at the start.
  19. My wife recorded me crossing the finish line of the Half Marathon. Was pretty dejected by that point and was just glad to finally be finished. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFLPbZbf_8s&feature=youtu.be
  20. Cheers mate. Well done on the pb that's an excellent time. Good to see so many p & b members complete the 10k and half Marathon! Really liked that course will hopefully get a decent shot at in 2014.
  21. Completed the half Marathon an hour later than my target time. I could barely run after the 4 mile mark due to my knee. In the end I was just glad to be able to do the distance at least I beat the guy in the humpty dumpty costume . Raised £850 so far for Crohn's and Colitis UK, I've had Crohns disease since I was 15, and still got a few donations to come. My work is going to match whatever I raise so will be up to £1700. I am over the moon with that didn't think I would get anywhere near that amount!
  22. Hope its just down to weather! Most runs I feel a bit sore in random places until I get into my stride. I tried going out a run there and could feel my left knee getting sore after half a mile so chucked it then. Will be a gentle jog round the Glasgow Half Marathon for me. Really disappointed after all those months of training but at least I have raised a decent amount for charity and even better my work is matching all donations pound for pound
  23. Bought a knee support today as it is still not feeling great from the Dumfries half Marathon last weekend. I'll be going out for a small run tomorrow and see how it goes. I have been training for the Glasgow Half for a good few months now so will be pretty gutted if I can't at least do the distance. I have gave up on any notations of getting round in a good time. Well a good time for me that is.
  24. Well done! I was last at Dumfries today which was a very small field too only around 300. Hoping to run Cumbernauld 10k next year as its my home run.
