  1. Joss Whedon as writer & director would have been good, given the job he did on The Avengers. He also could have injected some humour into it, like the first 3 films had. The prequels seriously lacked this

    Sons of Anarchy

Just finished romping through seasons 4 & 5. All I can say is…fuckin hell that was good! The blackmail scene with the transsexual was hilarious. Big round of applause to the special make up effects team
  3. There is nothing quite like a machete through the napper
  4. Loving the Gyp Rosetti character. He's a proper loose cannon

    Dexter

On FX channel in the UK? Or are you talking about US TV? Not seen it trailed anywhere over here
  6. When the old boy got launched through the bus shelter Of course I’d be horrified if I saw that in real life.. The etch-a-sketch recorded delivery bit was also spot on. Lost count of the amount of times I’ve scribbled nothing resembling a signature while bleary eyed in the morning and the guy has just went “Don’t worry mate that’ll do” Jolly Boy John in his auntie’s hoor boots Infantile humour but still funny
  7. I actually preferred the sequel. Probably something to do with the female vampire being a total ride and me being a teenager at the time with raging hormones I also thought Farrell was excellent in the re-make ( although I must stress he didn’t give me a rager, not even a semi )
  8. Have never quite understood where folk are coming from when they say that about Deliverance Man gets raped by hillbilly, hillbilly then gets killed by man's friend with an arrow, man gets shot and killed in canoe by another hillbilly, man's friend climbs mountain to kill hillbilly. Surviving men then cover up everything That's a pretty "happening" weekend away in anyone's book

    Breaking Bad

It gets worse, much much worse. The man is a legend

    Breaking Bad

Just finished season 3. Wow! Is there anything Walt won’t do to stay in business and out of jail?
  11. It’s been well publicised that David Morrissey will be playing the Governor so I reckon the minute a character appears on screen that looks like David Morrissey that’ll be him
  12. Does his character not have a drinking problem? They probably flipped a coin between us and the Irish
  13. Yes, that's the 2nd series now started on Channel 5. They show it a few months after FX
  14. On more pressing matters, McCoist's 17 year old son has said that if he turns out to be a decent footballer he will play for his Mum's country England in protest against the SFA The SFA need to sort this out. I’m really gutted that we might miss out on some wee dick who at 17 years of age has no idea if he is a decent footballer or not
  15. Watched this on Channel 4 the other night because, well, I cannae mind if it was Total Film or Empire but they had a feature once where one of their writers would offer a controversial opinion on a film then try to justify it. His was “The Last Exorcism is a far superior film to The Exorcist”. It’s not actually Interesting premise though. Documentry team filming an evangelical preacher in the deep south as he goes about his business carrying out exorcisms just for the money despite not believing in demonic possession. Liked the bit where he used special sound effects etc to fool the familiy into believing one had actually taken place. Of course when the girl actually does end up being possessed you expect it to get interesting and ramp up a gear but it didn’t and it ended up pretty disappointing. The ending was just daft 4/10
  16. The Rite What a pile of pish!. Wasted almost 2 hours on this last night. I say almost 2 hours as the exorcism of Anthony Hopkins towards the end is (unintentional) comedy gold 2/10
  17. Watched this last night. Had so much potential, started off well but ended up a bit messy. Nice pay day for Idris Elba though who was totally wasted in his role. The whole thing seemed like a giant set up for The Avengers movie (which I actually am looking forward to) with it’s wee mentions of a scientist experimenting with gamma rays going missing and Tony Stark (when the giant robot lands on earth) Then Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye appears for a couple of minutes ...not forgetting the scene with Samuel L after the closing credits I didn’t even realise it had been directed by Kenneth Fuckin Branagh until the end. That was a bit leftfield
  18. Loved the scene in the bar last week. Just when I thought Rick was going soft as well
  19. Watched it in the early 80s when I was a young pup and enjoyed it at the time. That was before I read the book so I had no idea it was based on that novel. On reflection it’s not a bad effort. At least the “infected” are real people and actually talk to Neville. It’s far closer to the premise than Will Smith’s mess. You just think that film making has moved on in so many aspects that they’d be able to make a better stab nowadays Will need to grab the Vincent Price effort. Is it on DVD?
  20. Aye it’s a true masterpiece. The bits with his neighbour are terrific, he becomes his true nemesis. The ending also makes you question everything you’ve read before. What are the “monsters” in the film supposed to be anyway? Skinheid cannibals? Not sure why they didn’t just make them vampires like the book and also give them a bit of character
  21. Folk should forget all about watching this terrible film and read the book instead which is amazing. Perhaps one day they will finally be able to make a decent adaptation of it
  22. There was such a sense of dread throughout the film building that I expected total carnage towards the end but it never really materialised. Still loved certain elements of it though Pusher (the first movie, other 2 are OK) and Bronson were much better but everything about Drive for me is just fucking amazing. The sound editing and use of music makes it the perfect movie
  23. Aye but everytime I heard a howl I kept expecting him to turn into a werewolf I noticed Mark Gatiss wrote Episode 2 and not Steven Moffat. Given the slightly spookier and eerier setting his style was probably best suited to the storyline. Both good writers but I think Moffat is his superior
