Don't know where you're getting 41 minutes from, it's 24 minutes from Falcon Square on the 11 bus, and I'd say 12 minutes is optimistic for a half mile with luggage. Otherwise you're hanging on for a bus to arrive at the railway station. The direct bus is just easier for me.

The only time I'd use the train would probably be back to town after arriving on a late flight.

P.S. You probably spotted the slow bus that goes through Culloden.

Quickest routes according to google 🤷‍♂️

It's quicker for me to catch the same bus in Inverness that picks rail passengers up at Dalcross. I hope there are other reasons for it, otherwise it seems a hell of a waste of £40 million.

How's it quicker? Just curious as google maps suggests a bus from Inverness Centre to the airport takes 41 minutes while a train from Inverness to Nairn (further away) takes only 16 mins. So factor in the fact that the airport station is closer than Nairn plus the 12 minute walk to the terminal - not sure how the bus is quicker.

  3. Having visited most of the 'main' islands of Scotland (when I say main I mean the ones served by a ferry and have inhabitants) it leaves me with Shetland as the biggest one to tick off. Might have to do that this year.

  4. I think people obsess over Eetu out of frustration because he's the only one on our books who is scoring goals and he's not even playing for us. Add to that what @gingermunkie says and you can understand why folk keep mentioning him. I am at peace with the fact that the sexy Fin will not play in a St. Johnstone shirt again so long as CD remains. Maybe if we get relegated and CD goes he could be tempted back for our Championship title charge 😑

  5. If folk are wanting to lose weight then my advice would be:

    - Improve your diet. Don't eat processed shite, cook good meals and have a good mix of macros. I'd suggest aiming for a more protein rich diet and reduce the carbs. If you don't have time to cook good meals every night, batch cook meals at the end/start of your working week.

    - Portion control. All very well having a good diet but if you are eating big portions you are hampering progress.

    - Drink lots of water. Water fills you up and it's important to stay hydrated anyway. Start the day by downing a pint of it and aim to drink a further litre throughout the day.

    - cut out sugar. It's okay to treat yourself from time to time but eating a pudding after dinner every night or eating confectionary everyday has to stop.

    - move more. If you do an office job try and go for a walk during lunch. Walk/cycle to work if you can. Consider going to the gym before or after work.

These things worked for me. I've never been overweight but a few years ago I was determined to have #poppin abs, so I became very strict with my diet in order to shred fat. I basically abandoned sugar and I was using an app to track my calories. It did work but I actually became too thin at one point and it wasn't until my folks told me that I realised I needed to calm the jets a wee bit. The calorie trackers can be handy but tedious also. I also used Joe Wick's 'Lean in 15' book religiously, there's some good recipes on there and many became a staple part of my diet.

A mate and I are planning on doing this the first week of May over 5 days. My mate got halfway through a few years back before the group he done it with bombed home as they were tired. We’re planning on camping but might try and sneak a night in a bothy.

Any tips or advice much appreciated

    We did:

Day 1 - Milngavie > Balmaha. Got a few pints in at Drymen. Stayed in a hostel in Balmaha.

Day 2 - Balmaha > Ardlui. Physically the toughest day of the week for me. The route takes you through beautiful ancient oak woodland along the shore of Loch Lomond.  I found the path tough going, very rocky and muddy with a lot of clambering about. I was shot by the end of the day. Had a rewarding soak in the loch before catching the 5 quid ferry over to Ardlui where we stayed in a hotel.

Day 3 - Ardlui > Bridge of Orchy. The key take home message here is there is NO shop in Bridge of Orchy so whatever you do, don't do what we did and not stock up on food when you get to Tyndrum. We couldn't even get our dinner at the Bridge of Orchy Hotel because there was a power cut. It was a disaster. We stayed in a hostel on the platform of the Bridge of Orchy station.

Day 4 - Bridge of Orchy > Kinlochleven. Man, we were so hungry. We fed like ravenous wolves at the Kingshouse Hotel. Stayed in an Airbnb in Kinlochleven.

Day 5 - Kinlochleven > Fort William. Straightforward half day to the finishing line.

The problem we (HMFC) have, is that we do not have enough land to enlarge our stadium any more. We have a 2500 waiting list for tickets, so we would be mental not to sell season tickets in our ‘away stand’, but we have to lose thousands of seats due to the risk of fan violence.

I would like to see us trial some sort of thin and transparent hard-wearing Perspex divider. Less space taken up and more fans, without locking out our own supporters.

I haven't an issue with Hearts their fans seats in the Roseburn. My issue lies with the segregation, I think it's unnecessary. Agree that a moveable perspex wall  would be a good option.

Is there no way you could lift the roof off the stands and make them slightly taller? I guess HMFC would have to decide whether it would be worth doing to for the sake of maybe another 3000 odd seats.

The St. Johnstone one is the biggest nonsense. At least the Hearts one the fans are in the same stand.

Closing of a section in the East Stand and North Stand to segregate fans who are already separated by 40 yards of pitchside makes very little sense.

If you're going to jump the 4 foot wall and run the 40 yards to the other fans then you're going to do that regardless of whether you're located in the section nearest there or not.

Yep, doesn't make any sense. Here's a shot from 4 months ago vs Aberdeen:

    image.thumb.png.b7d13ee5b4e2bb4f219ffa289ffe413c.png

Blocked off section in our end, big strip of seats blocked off in the North Stand for the sake of keeping fans a further 10m or so apart. Also a big steward/police presence standing there in the middle with their hands in the pockets doing f**k all. We need them though in case it all kicks off, apparently. Piece of nonsense. Compare that to vs Dundee in 1999:

    image.png.a3d37457876e0da2d42b7c387c03e04a.png

Poor quality but you get the idea. No seats blocked off and less steward/police for a big derby match with over 10k in attendance. Are Scottish football fans really that barbaric in this day and age that all these extra precautions are necessary? I don't believe so.

  9. Can anybody explain what the deal is with this shit? This was from last nights Hearts vs Aberdeen match.

Is it just me who think that this is an utterly ridiculous amount of segregation? The white square is particularly bad - it just looks awful. The columns down the left, there's no need for 3 of them. One would suffice along with extra stewarding if necessary. There's a good few hundred seats covered up that both Hearts and Aberdeen fans could have used.

Who is making these decisions to install so much needless segregation, is it the club or the police? It never used to be this bad, you only need to look at highlights from a few years ago to see that this didn't happen.

    image.png.0738ea78f225ef2a03ec89cfa798e531.png

St. Johnstone are guilty of it as well, we also cover up a block of seats nearest to the away end - something that never used to happen. It's a ridiculous carry on. This isn't Leeds vs Millwall - it's St. Johnstone vs Motherwell, mate. In England you don't get segregation like this, even between supporters who bitterly hate each other.

As a fan of Scottish football, this stuff pisses me off. We should be trying to cram as many folk in as possibly to games like this, promoting the game and making it a noisy spectacle. More fans = better for the atmosphere. Covering up seats like this and trying to keep opposition fans apart also takes a bit of sting out the atmosphere. It would appear the authorities are hell bent on making attending football matches as miserable and boring experience as possible, whether it be the alcohol ban, overzealous stewarding and policing or stupid shit like this.

Please share any examples of stupid segregation you have come across.
