Always find this batshit crazy. Someone on £43K paying the same % of tax as someone on a 6 figure income. I don't know how they decide tax percentages but I'd have thought 30% for those on say £43k-99K would have been more appropriate as opposed to the 20% jump after 43K.

Lol wonder why you picked these numbers

This new "leave the millionaires and corporations alone, the middle class should pay more to support the paupers" thing is wild.

Astonishing to see the private self-interest of the 1922 Committee being supported by ordinary people. Well, fairly ordinary.

Who is saying anything remotely like this?

On today I'd be whacking Callumn Morrison upfront, let him run wild against the back two of Brian Mclean and Peter Grant. Quite interested to see how Rodden is for Clyde, I'm sure we had someone on here or the COYB page wanting us to sign him last season having watched him for the shire.

    Morrison
    Williamson Donaldson Mackie Mccann
    McGinn Hetherington
    Mcguffie Yeats Oliver
    Morrison

Gary Oliver's best attributes are holding the ball up with his back to goal and leading a high press of the opposing defence. You'd lose all of that if you shunt him out wide.

There appears to be a developing sub-community of posters - exclusively male and over 50 - who object in frothing terms to any discussion of current issues that includes pesky things like facts, evidence or argumentation. Apparently using these techniques on the GN section of a Scottish football forum is a claim to world-leading expertise that requires slapping down your CV and publications to back it up at every opportunity. Which seems strange given that the volume of semi-serious discussion has in fact massively declined on here in the past 15 years.

Perhaps the solution to this deeply held grievance is to set up a Da'snet sub-forum - a cosy safe space where you can just post puns, Kenneth Williams jpegs and scorching anecdotal/mainstream media regurgitated takes to your heart's content.

The insistence that everyone else must follow these norms is getting rather tedious though.

This echoes a lot of the discussion me and my mates have been having Offline.

I never thought I'd be one of those who ends up saying this but General Nonsense is far far worse than it used to be. Think it's a combo of "Group Chat General Nonsense" as I call them and the bores you've called out above.

Last week v hibs had the ball down the corner he fired a shot about 15 yards wide and hibs had a chance right after, nae brains sometimes.

If we can’t beat Clyde to get into the knockouts then we don’t deserve anything, 50k minimum prize money plus potential tv and gate monies on the line.

A draw does us on Saturday. Don't even need to win the shootout.

  5. Quite happy to take someone on loan that's played first team games elsewhere prior to joining us. Too often we've taken players who freeze up and are used to kids football. Kennedy will have a good understanding of what's required. He's only 20 years old and about 18 months ago he was being linked with moves to every elite club in Europe. Gives us a degree of flexibility now across the four attacking positions.

Every McGlynn signing so far has looked good the couple of times I've seen them so I think he's already earned a bit of faith.

  6. Not sure if anyone else has mentioned it, but Morrison taking that wild shot in the 93rd minute rather than just keeping it in the corner was one of the most pea brained things I've seen in a long time. Very nearly cost us with Doidge missing the one on one directly from the subsequent goal kick.

I’m I correct in thinking if we qualify for the league cup 2nd round we get £50k share of prize money and also got £17k for TV money last night ?

50k prize money if we win the group. Slightly less than that if we were to qualify as one of the best second placed teams.

  8. Weston was one I was really hoping we could get in on loan so that's a bit of a blow. Scored for fun in the LL and seems to be really highly rated.

We're in a tough position in some ways but I feel like there's loads of players I'd been hopeful of signing that have either gone to clubs around us (eg Ballantyne), clubs up a league (eg Easton, Weston, Brown) or re-signed with their current clubs (eg Frizzel).

I'm hoping a few players get freed up for loans as clubs further up the chain complete their business. Our squad is really thin atm - tonight it's basically 11 players who can start, a sub keeper, Wilson and bunch of weans. Hopefully we don't panic and sign any old dross but we're going to have to twist at some stage.

Makes you wonder if all the disruption and the loss of pay by being on strike was worth it given that they could have had 4.2% almost 2 months ago.

For someone on £50k all the disruption has earned them just £33 a month before tax and NI.

Was it really worth it for under £20 a month net or just over a tenner a month net for someone on £20k ?
