  1. Well reading this thread has really got me psyched up ahead of my first game of the season on Monday.
  2. Ok then - what sort of useless shower of *$%@ers don't have their live updates on twitter because it's what I use and it's the way I like it. *stamps feet, folds arms and looks slightly red in the face*
  3. I noticed on Saturday that the full match updates are no longer on twitter - I know they are still on the site but not quite as convenient to check especially on the phone. It's a bit churlish of me to complain because the digital offerings are otherwise excellent. Keep up the good work.
  4. I was only ten at the time so I'll excuse my mistake. After this I went intermittently with my dad and brother for a few years and only really started to go regularly when I'd moved to Dumfries from the sticks and was at the High School with my mates. Managed to follow the team pretty regularly after moving to Glasgow for university and staying on there and now have a good group of Queens supporting friends who I never knew when I actually lived in Dumfries. Moved down south last year and haven't made it to a game yet this season - New Year will hopefully be the first.
  5. 85/86, Stewart Cochrane, Tommy Bryce, Billy Reid, Kevin Heatherington, Jimmy Robertson et al. I'd been into a few games in years previously but always with my dad after the gates opened to let people out. First full game was 2-0 against Raith Rovers they had a player sent off for what to me at the time was the mysterious 'off the ball incident' I think. I remember being most impressed by how many headers Kevin Heatherington would do in the warm up! I used to always say that in my first season I'd seen Raith, Airdrie and Dunfermline who'd all gone on to play in Europe whilst Queens were languishing in the Scottish lower leagues - l'm glad that one had a happy ending.
  6. I agree with all that had been said, especially the bit bolded above. It is difficult to see what more the club can do to get people through the gate when the monotony of mid-table first division football is the product. The only hope is to work at off the field activities and promotions with local youngsters.
  7. I still think the list should be limited to players who have retired.
  8. Do the US sports not do it by only allowing players to be eligible for voting X years (say 5) after retirement. I'd be tempted to start with 5 and then do 2 a year or we'll quickly run out of nominees. Maybe make one of the voted in each year have to be retired for 20+ years and the other 5+ years.
  9. Some happy memories watching yesterday's Tour de France.
  10. Good, solid appointment if true. I assume that he feels there is enough budget available at the club to be competitive at this level as well. Interesting to see who he brings in, but things might be looking up at Palmerston.
  11. I think Chisholm might be a decent shout, whether he's a viable option I don't know. He's obviously got a reasonable working relationship with the board which after last seasons debacle would be a relief along with a decent knowledge of Scottish football. In my eyes he's a safe pair of hands in a season where the main aim is to avoid relegation, better the devil you know and all that...
  12. A good first division centre-half but I think he's still prone to the odd mistake that will be punished a lot more in the SPL.
  13. I'd imagine the board will see it as an opportunity to get rid of another of our high earning players. Good player but maybe not as well equipped to take the step up as Harris or Burns.
  14. Seems like the the board are offering contracts to existing players at a level which they pretty much know they won't accept. Ideally I'd like to have a new manager in place now but I doubt that would have any effect on us keeping existing players. Nothing wrong with the board putting a sensible wage structure in place, I'd imagine there won't be enough wiggle room for somebody new to go '15 expensive players or 20 cheap players', it'll probably be more like '15 cheap players or nothing'.
  15. Anbody got a link for the best place to see a list of upcoming events? Been running regularly (3-4 times a week, 20-25miles) but haven't as yet taken part in an organised race, ideally I'd like to do a couple of 10ks building up to a half marathon some time next year.
  16. Yeah it even surprised me, great to hear the American commentry as well.
  17. Just got a text from my mate who is watching the game in a pub in Sofia full of Scotland fans on their way back from Macedonia - he wonders why more people don't watch tennis in pubs!!
  18. http://myp2p.eu/broadcast.php?matchid=17252∂=sports The CBS ones there are working great for me
  19. Interesting watching CBS on a stream, it having a somewhat more nutral commentry who are not as familair with Murray's game than I'm used to with my annual wimbledon watching.
