  1. Anybody have the exact figure? I remember it being absolutely freezing and for some reason I was in the Terregles Street end.
  2. See above. I don’t think there is anybody we could realistically play who would bring a crowd.
  3. Is there anything realistic that will get large numbers through the gate? Certainly nothing like the buzz of our 75th game against Partizan Belgrade. In the absence of a realistic glamour tie I'd rather do something with a nod to history.
  4. I'd be kind of loathed to involving the military but how about a friendly with an Army FA select as a nod to our foundation as a result of the end of the war and our incorporation of the 5th KOSB - (we could even get them to wear our new away strip)
  5. Get them back to Palmerston for the third leg.
  6. He'll be 34 halfway through the season, I think there is always the worry that the legs will suddenly go. It is a decent signing depending on how we play him but I'd rather see more like Todd.
  7. I'm not sure what to think of this, undoubtedly a good player but I would have preferred not to add any more older players to the team - I like to think we would have saved the wage and went for Thomson if he was available. Interesting that Naysmith mentions him being particularly useful at home. I'm kind of worried how he will fit in the team with Dobbie. I imagine in a midfield two we'd be overrun so either coming from the left/right in a 4 (the Dom Thomas role) or in a midfield 3/5 with Dykes and Todd wide and Dobbie through the middle would seem to match how Naysmith has played in the past. Fair play to the manager for getting some signings in early.
  8. Good business. Looked like he fitted into the team well and only 23.
  9. I was of the opinion that Lyle would probably be no more than an impact sub at the start of the season but I can see some merit in this argument. I do think that it would have been a struggle to go through the season with a front two both in their mid-thirties and Lyle probably suffered the most from Dobbie’s presence. Dobbie and Dykes seem to have formed a good partnership and will be vital next year. I’ve got a sneaking feeling that we might see Dykes take over from Dobbie as the main man at some point next season ( I know, but I’ve been out in the sun all day!) and I doubt he’ll be at Palmerston the season after.
  10. Not yet a week since the end of the season and we're already trawling such obscurities as "when did Graeme Muir score his first goal?". It could be a long, hard close-season for SD's spreadsheets! (I'm loving the trivia)
  11. Andy Thomson? I've not got any exact dates (quick wiki) but could be 89 and 07.
  12. Interesting to know the player with the biggest time gap between their first and last goal for Queens, both of those would be up there.
  13. Where did Dumfries FC play? (Fingers crossed for us DG1ers after comments earlier in the thread)
  14. Get him signed. Is he from Carlisle originally? Didn't really do anything spectacular in the games I saw but I thought he added a lot to the balance of the midfield. Decent going forward and strong and hardworking back-the-way.
  15. @Skyline Drifter any chance of an updated top scorers list?
  16. More a nod to a classic Elopak number from the 80s http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Scottish_Football_League/Queen_of_the_South/images/queen_of_the_south_1989-1991-eh.gif
  17. Exactly the sort of fresh meat the feral seagulls like.
  18. Maybe Naysmith should have done as we have in the past and gone directly to SPL teams to get an emergency loan of a youngster when Martin was first out. Maybe we should accept that in most cases a young keeper at Queens is really only going to play in the youth teams and sit on the bench. Most teams at our level will rely picking up keepers as they drop down the ranks having failed to make a breakthrough. When was the last time we brought through a young keeper? David Matheson? Even he was superseded by Colin Scott.
  19. By Robinson I meant an average Championship keeper who could be relied on to start 95% of our games. Martin didn't look fit right from the start of the season even before he got injured. Hindsight it a brilliant thing
  20. I think without doubt we'd have more points this season with Robinson in goals than with the combination of half-fit Martin and Leighfield. The latter is just a youngster so deserves some slack but in the games I've seen him he's been responsible for about a goal a game which is a lot to make up (that is before you even begin to factor in the shaky defence in front of him).
  21. My word you’re demanding! The other option is to watch Mercer inch forward before slicing it out for a goal kick. I assume both are out of contract at the end of the season. Anybody have thoughts on whether we should keep either? I think Rooney is worth it just because he does appear to have the attributes to be so exciting, maybe somebody can show him where to stand when we’re defending. (I do actually think Mercer has been not bad the last couple of times I’ve seen him)
  22. This. The combination of him overlapping Thomas looked brilliant at some points on Saturday. Defensively not so much [emoji22]
