  1. He's well worth it just for the buzz he's created. Queens fans looking forward to Saturdays, who'd have thunk it!
  2. I completely agree. Brownlie is a bit more physical than Higgins and having him there as cover seems to have freed Dowie up to be a bit more aggressive in attacking the ball. The Higgins/Dowie partnership looked a bit slow and prone to direct running at the start of the season. Let's hope that Brownlie can continue to play without making too many mistakes, I'm sure playing with an experienced right-back and keeper have helped as well.
  3. I think before Christmas we'll see Dykes being the O'Connor to Dobbie's Dobbie with Lyle an impact sub. I think adding another experience wide player makes sense if we're going to carry on with the 4-4-1-1/4-2-3-1 to add an option to Anderson and Hilson though a slightly more solid defensive option might be preferable to Carmichael or Harris (I'd take the former if he's fit)
  4. Yeah, I think at 34 he'll probably just have a year left so will be looking to just enjoy playing out his final season.
  5. I'm still shocked that nobody else picked him up in the summer - I would think he could do a job for any team in Scotland except Celtic. I think there is a chance but it would have to be an interesting opportunity for him to go - not just a mid-lower level Premiership team. I imagine Queens have pushed the boat out money wise.
  6. Absolute legend! It's certainly made my mind up about going on Saturday. I last saw him play for Crystal Palace helping seal their play-off spot in Championship. As per above, at 40 am I too old to get a strip with a name on the back?
  7. Listened to part 1 and a bit of part 2. Another great effort.
  8. I still think that the eligibility for players should be limited to those who have retired. Baseball for example has a retired for 5 year rule before nominations are permitted.
  9. Anybody who thinks he wasn't a success at Swansea just needs to look at the playoff run that eventually took them up, especially the final. Saw him a couple of years ago coming off the bench for Palace, changed the game and set up a couple of goals playing in the no. 10 role. In many respects he's been a victim of his own success with the teams he's played for getting immediate promotions into the premier league before he had a chance to get settled, I would have liked to have seen him get a couple of consistent years at the same club in the championship and would have thought he might have got close a Scotland call up if he'd kept his Swansea form up for more than a season. Not necessarily my all-time favourite but in those last six months he was simply untouchable.
  10. I'm still getting over the shock of seeing him on the pitch at halftime when over in Dublin the other month. I can't say I've followed his career since he left Queens but like everyone else I'm unsure as to how he's had such a long career in the top division.
  11. What is the situation with tickets for the Annan game? I'm just trying to work out if it's worth me coming up.
  12. Imagine he turned up at Palmerston in a Stranraer shirt in a couple of weeks Great player for Queens, hope everything works out well for him. I hope he'll be back at Palmerston at some time in the future as I want to see some evidence of aging - unbelievable that he still seems to look exactly the same as when he broke into the first team.
  13. Thanks. I actually looked at that link before but missed the vital sentence: "although they are subject to change for live TV coverage"
  14. So the first leg of the playoff is 9th May at Palmerston, am right? Is there a chance this could be moved for TV or any other reason?
  15. Cranking the mighty Drifter memory banks into action! I think that match was the last time I stood in the Terregles St end.
  16. If I recall correctly he was a local lad, year above me at the High School I think, so he would have been 18/19 at the time. He came off the bench in that game and missed a good chance.
  17. Championship is his level - he's been unlucky that every team he plays for gets promoted . He was one of the better players on display last season when I went to see Palace. He's never going to match a lot of players in that league for work-rate but he makes things happen.
  18. Pretty much agree with this. Artificial surfaces are really the only way forward in Scotland (especially the lower leagues), hopefully more consistent pitches will encourage a higher standard of football and benefit everyone long term.
  19. I've still to work out how I feel. Living down south I don't make it to many games but makes it a lot less likely I'll endure a 10 hour return train journey to watch us play like I did last season. Annan are a lot more likely to receive some of my hard earned cash as well.
  20. I really don't know what to think. How can the club be so out of touch with the fans and the general footballing mood as a whole? Are the board not in contact with other clubs? As has already been said though I'd rather the no vote and Queens vote yes than the other way round. A proud day to be a diddy team supporter, if not a Queens one.
  21. Happy with the news but similarly gutted if this is true. Annan looking like a better option for me as well.
