  1. Exactly. Plus everyone in the group buys season tickets so you are all in together and to get a decent seat. The week of football also makes it more of a pain for anyone outside the central belt. I'd happily go back to the old system of points just for away games maybe retaining the 2 bonus points for renewing. I don't think the points for home games has any value.
  2. The points for home games is one of those things that lots of folk were calling for who felt they were missing out on away tickets but weren't willing to just go to some meaningless friendly. Like you I think it has made it harder to get on the ladder - now you pretty much have make sure you've been to the full last 10 home games. The only winners are the SFA who will undoubtedly be selling a lot more home tickets now even if they aren't always used.
  3. I think you can play the same diamond midfield we played on Tuesday with Armstrong/Christie/Ferguson taking the McGinn role. Tierney being out is the biggest loss - there isn't a replacement that gives us the same dynamism and the back 3 looks a bit pedestrian. I'd love to see us continue with Gilmour in the team which probably means the same midfield 4 we saw on Tuesday. Porteous has taken to international football like a duck to water, I've been really impressed with his performances, hard to drop him I think. Let's see how Hanley comes back from injury.
  4. Gordon is a legend but Gunn for me. He's the long term option and it makes a big difference having a keeper comfortable with the ball at his feet, especially if we want to keep progressing as a team.
  5. Similar amount was spent by a friend to get a home end ticket yesterday and he agrees
  6. I'm finding the custard cream top strangely alluring.
  7. Did anyone manage to get any of the Norway home tickets that supposedly went on sale this morning? We have one guy in our group looking for a home end due to lack of SSC points but he had no luck.
  8. Only qualifying for major tournaments with the games at Hampden (I know we got a trip to Wembley last time) is certainly not what I hoped for in the barren 1998-2021 years so hopefully we get to Germany in 2024 first.
  9. I was standing about 5 yards away from the penalty incident being on my way back to the terracing from the toilet and my view was that he was already on his way down going into the box but he did manage to get in there and be fouled again. I was surprised the ref gave it when he could have taken the easy option but I could also see why he did.
  10. Did we not have a bit of an injury crisis where as well as losing them we had no other fit centre-halfs? Looking at the squad that day we had Gallagher and Kingsly on the bench both of whom I think were late replacements. If Robertson is missing I can easily see Hickey or Taylor slotting in but if Tierney is out then going to a four becomes a lot more attractive.
  11. I would put Gunn as first choice now even when Gordon comes back. The latter is an absolute legend but at his age, even before the injury, his powers must be on the wane. I don't see the point of dragging out the change over now we have someone that appears to be a decent successor.
  12. Jack fills a different role to either Ferguson or McTominay. I don't particularly like him but see he has a place in the squad. Hopefully he'll become redundant if Gilmour can kick on. I was at both games and didn't hear any booing and always feel these things are being exaggerated by folk wanting to stir things up, there will always be a couple of idiots (though I admit to not being at peak alertness levels on Saturday )
  13. Seriously got the fear about the last double header, Georgia away and Norway at home.
  14. He started the last game against Turkey.
  15. It was rumoured that Boehly asked him to wait and see what was happening with Tuchel. Considering Gilmour left as the transfer window shut hanging around waiting for the manager to be sacked and somebody else to be appointed when he hadn't been given a squad number seems like a bit of a gamble.
  16. I agree with this. You get the feeling that the experience at Norwich meant he pushed for a permanent transfer rather than accept another loan. The timing of the Brighton move was unfortunate in that Potter moved on so quickly but also the fact that he missed the full pre-season so has always been playing catchup in a team that is doing incredibly well this year.
  17. First trip for me too. So this and where is the best place to park? Thanks
  18. He's not world class but he is better than what we have after Gordon
  19. I agree with that but it's a hard sell when all we have to offer is sitting on the bench watching an ageing Gordon kick the ball into touch. Gordon has been great for Scotland but we need to stop thinking he can play on for much longer.
  20. The win also means they play the next round straight after the WC before their next league game which should mean more minutes.
  21. Without Tierney, McTominay becomes even more important as someone who can carry the ball out and is comfortable running beyond the ball, overloading on the right rather than the left.
  22. They generally have played with a back 4. Gilmour has tended to alternate between one of the 8s or the single deep lying player in a midfield 3. Smith has mostly favoured 4-3-3 but tried 4-2-3-1 as well as 4-4-2 and 5-3-2 in an attempt to get results. The main problem is that Norwich don't have good enough players or the commitment to play the ball through midfield so they have started to rely on a more direct style of play but even then their forwards struggle to hold the ball up. Without possession the whole team, including Gilmour, have been exposed defensively. Without the ball Gilmour is a luxury that they have never really worked out how to use.
  23. Slightly different. There isn't much difference in quality between Cooper and McKenna who will have virtually no time with the squad before Wednesday. Robertson is the captain, will arrive a day earlier and is much more accustomed to the players around him.
  24. I think it will be Cooper against Ukraine, McKenna will be in the Playoff final on Sunday.
  25. I think the company he works for do the accounts but he also does a lot of voluntary admin work for the club beyond that.
