  1. Went to Berlin with mates in February. Friday night we went to the ice hockey which was surprisingly good. Berlin play at the O2 Arena which is a fantastic venue. Saturday, went to see Hertha at the Olympic Stadium. It was about -9 during the day when we were there so ended up drinking mulled wine at the game to try and stay warm. Bought tickets for both in advance by simply phoning the ticket hotlines. I checked online to see where I wanted to buy seats for. I only speak a wee bit of German but the club staff spoke perfect English. Collected tickets for both games at the ticket office before the start. Berlin is a great city at night as well. Still have no idea how we managed to navigate the journey back to the hotel via the U bahn system at 4am when we were so pished we could barely stand up. Good times.
  2. Should have added earlier. I am also loking for a bike rack preferably one that can be removed from my car on a regular basis. Can anyone suggest a good rack etc? Cheers
  3. Next cycle for me is a cycle from Glasgow to darkest Ayrshire. I am looking at three routes. Can anyone shed some light on any of them:- Glasgow to Largs via Kilmacolm and Old Largs Road Glasgow to Troon via Newton Mearns Finally, where does the cycle path that passes through Lochwinnoch end? Cheers
  4. Did 42 miles on the MTB yesterday. Longest journey yet. Balloch to Tarbet and back to Balloch with an extra 6 miles home as I mistimed my connecting train at Central and I did not fancy hanging around for another 50minutes. Was not that impressed with the route alongside Loch Lomond. Some nice parts but considering you are in a National Park, the route was very poorly signed (alright, it is a straight route but still) and there were few information points etc. Also, special mention to the Inverbeg Inn, the hotel that redefines hospitality. My mate and I had been out to about 4am on Saturday night / Sunday morning but still made it to Balloch for 12:30 on Sunday. On the road back from Tarbet and we went into the Inverbeg Inn as we were both starving by that point. We were kindly advised by the ever so helpful staff that only hotel guests can get meals and visitors can only get snacks. Wonderful.
  5. I thought the route was very well signed. A lot of the signs in and around Port Glasgow looked quite new. It was hard going due to the hills at the outset but the natives were nowhere to be seen which was a major benefit and all pathways in Port and Greenock were in good condition.
  6. Yeah, I sometimes cycle part of the way to work then train the rest. I don't think I would ever go for a road bike but I am really enjoying getting out and about mainly on cycle paths etc but my MTB allows me to go off road as well. This thread seems really useful so I dare say I will be popping in for advice etc.
  7. Read through the last few pages of this thread. Quite interesting stuff. I am not a serious cyclist by any means. First jaunt of the year was yesterday. Train down to Gourock and then 25miles back with my mate. Took us 2hrs 30mins mainly due to the struggle of the first 7 or 8 miles being all uphill. We are also on MTB's although I use Scwalbe Marathon slicks when on the road to get more pace. Next jaunt looks like being Balloch - Tarbet and back. 33Miles all in. Aiming to get Edinburgh to Glasgow in by the summer and ideally around the 5hr mark.

  9. Boss in work knows one of the guys who has a part stake in Majestic Myles which is in the Ayr Gold Cup tomorrow. He reckons it has a cracking chance of placing. Currently 28/1 on Ladbrokes so a wee e/w stake beckons.
  10. Tried to send you a PM.

    Clear out your mailbox!!!

  11. Don't mind replying as long as it is not just a fishing trip from him. His points on the pro-Barca fest that has been going on are relevant, he then just starts baiting folk though.

  12. Bit of a muppet. He made some decent points re Barca vs Madrid early on before he decided he would rather become a troll.

  13. Let you off with it as you are a fellow La Liga fan!!

  14. ha ha. You stuck up posters in Stirling in the 70's?

    You're older than me!!

  15. I can't get to sleep. Damn that nap at 8pm.

The club for Under 11s. You are too old. Go away.

  17. What about Hamilton to Hampden Park then a short lift in a car before walking the final two miles ago. About 12 miles walked all in. Took me 4 hrs. I had to go home yesterday to undertake some important excel spreadsheet work (nudge nudge wink wink, taps nose)
  18. First Glasgow and Arriva have updates on the services which they hope to provide tomorrow. There is some Scotrail info at:- http://www.journeych.../firstscotrail/ Quite a few services already completely withdrawn. My fucking car is still in Hamilton and no idea how I will get to it tomorrow
  19. I drove into Hamilton just before 10am this morning. The M8 and M74 were starting to get bad around that point and there were no gritters etc out and about. I am sure that Amey are resposible for the Motorways and some A class roads in the Glasgow / Lanarkshire area? Hamilton was carnage by 10:30am. People started leaving works early and the schools were already confirming early closure adding to the chaos on the roads. No gritters were going to get through the traffic by that point. Whether gritters should have been out overnight is an issue worth exploring. Some guys said it rained overnight and grit could potentially be washed away. No idea about the accuracy of that.
  20. Left work in Hamilton at 3:30pm and had walked about 11miles when I managed to cadge a lift just outside Hampden Park. Walked the last 2 miles home after getting dropped off. Quite impressed that it only took me 4hrs to get 16miles. Fucking knackered now though Guys from the work staying overnight in Hamilton including some who reached Raith Interchange, waited 4 hours, did not move and turned back.
  21. I stuck a £5 treble on this afternoon in Ladbrokes but one of the games had already kicked off when I placed the bet - I got the kick off time wrong. Will this still be considered a treble or revert to a double? I have no idea if Ladbrokes allow you to bet in play?
  22. Good stuff. I have a few thoughts on who will do well / badly this season. Will post this when you strat the thread.

  23. I did a google search for spreadsheet league tables and found one which I then started to adapt. This keeps track of scores etc for me. With regards to betting, I just messed around until I have found something that works for me. The main points to include were the game, odds, stakes and profit / loss column.
  24. I kept a spreadsheet last season but it became too messy to use properly after a while. I have made a few changes to it and will be keeping track of all bets this season. It is very useful if you can look back and identify trends etc in your betting habits.
  25. Hopefully no one on here will be answering yes to many, if any at all, of those questions. I can honestly answer no to them all. The easiest thing to do with an online account is deposit some cash and gamble with that and only that. Don't add anymore into the pot.
