  1. Steve Earle w/ Jason and the Scorchers - Bible And A Gun
  2. Flintoff hat-trick. His best figures in a one dayer. England are playing really well, just when it doesn't matter too much.
  3. I wish they would, it's a dead form of the game. Tests and 20/20 is where it's at, as Chris Gayle might say. Possibly.
  4. It does rather lend itself to a female voice, funnily for a Waits song. Joan Baez, who I can take in small doses, sings it beautifully. I'm off to youtube LT's one. Edited to add; I can't find it.
  5. Tom Waits - Day After Tomorrow; just a ridiculous piece of beauty. A staggering song.
  6. Why? That they managed to stifle a laugh at all was a remarkable piece of self-control. Why would they get an MBE? Cricket players hardly ever get recognised, whereas two bit footballers get them every year.
  7. John Martyn - Sweet Little Mystery; lordy, that man could play.
  8. Strauss was pretty much laughing all the way through his victory interview. Edited to add - hope somebody got a picture of Dyson when he realised what he had done...
  9. What a farce! Dyson really ballsed up this one. Oh well, a win is a win is a win.
  10. Let's not forget his attitude towards the Olympics either, where by his own admission he didn't train, turned up out of condition, and was delighted when he lost.
  11. I don't know if you watched on telly or not, but on the DVD there's a director's commentary in which they basically just rip the movie to shreads, point out all the glaring errors ad slag the movie studio executives off. Terrific viewing.
  12. Yay. The Sharks, or more to the point, Nabakov, beat the Ducks by one goal to zip. Moen scores again, looks like a decent pick up. Shelley and that guy with the moustache had a dull fight again.
  13. Why on both counts? Have you ever seen Davies play? He's a left handed opener. Seemed a logical choice. Why is it good to see Pietersen "struggling"? It's not as if he's playing badly at all. He's a bit of an over-confident dick, but I think England would do better if more of their players had his arrogance. England probably should give up one-day cricket though.
  14. Posters who use the phrase "According to my source..." or "It's my understanding that..." to imply they somehow have some secret contact at the highest echelons of football leaking them information out to post on the internet. Without exception, anyone who uses either of these phrases is a liar.
  15. He really isn't. He's saying that the West Indies won't lose any sleep over the accusations of dull play. Which is fair enough, but he was ripping into the entertainment levels on TMS all the time. Read it again. It isn't a defence at all. Cricket is most definitely a sport which includes a spirit of the game, more than any other major sport, I'd suggest.
  16. I'm not sure Tony Cozier is actually defending the West Indies there. The West Indies don't have to pander to the Barmy Army, although it was noticeable that the rapport between the West Indies players and the England support was in far better humour than with the Australians. The West Indies do have a duty to entertain though, and play cricket in the spirit of the game. Other than when they were gamely battling to save the game - more caused by good English play than anything else - and the odd time while Gayle was batting, they manifestly didn't do this. None the less, roll on 2014 and the next tour. I'm saving up as we speak.
  17. That's Boycott's bugbear. Have to say, England made it into a brilliant, brilliant test match. TMS on the tranny, and switching between the champions league was nerve-wracking stuff. Little or no respect for the way the West Indies treated the series though.
  18. Prior and KP are setting about the bowling, Gayle is time wasting. I really hope the West Indies aren't going to be this churlish when they bat.
  19. The West Indies owe it to everyone who travelled out there to come out swinging. If they don't, it will ruin a potentially explosive final day, and give the West Indies a reputation akin to the New Zealand team of the last four or five years. Gayle is not doing the game any good, and it's sad.
  20. Fair play to England, and indeed the West Indies... this has been one of the dreariest tests in recent memory, but thanks to some good batting and brave captaincy by Mr Strauss, the final session was as exciting as test match cricket can get. I tend to agree with Vic Marks though, the more this series has gone, the harder it has become to defend the referral system. I tend to think they should do away with it altogether. Looking forward to tomorrow, it'd be justice if England can scrape a win.
  21. I'm all in favour of the referral system, but time after time the third umpire is going beyond his power. There needs to be much firmer rules set in place. I do like it, although it does take away a bit from the massive groundswell for LBW decisions - the best part of being in the crowd.
  22. Chanderpaul was clearly out there.
