  1. Whispertown 2000 - Done With Love. Oddball Americana. Great stuff in a vaguely Bright Eyes style but not really.
  2. Where are your seats? I had sweet ones right on the half way line - see earlier photos. Also remember, the foot-long hot-dogs are expensive but tasty, and take your passport otherwise you'll have to sweet-talk the stall staff. MSG is one of the great arenas of any sport.
  3. I heard this one is fantastic. Definitely the next one I'll be forking out to see, if I can find anywhere showing it. I loved the rotoscope effect on A Scanner Darkly.
  4. That's not why it isn't popular. It isn't popular because it's not a great TV sport, they missed an entire season due to the lockout and football and baseball hog more and more of the market. It is, going by the ever reliable facebook, the least popular of five's American sport output too. Edited to add, why do the vote on the all-star game so early? And; those lineups just get more and more bewildering. Worse than the baseball all-star game balloting.
  5. At least the Canucks players are getting rewarded for it by getting voted into the all-star teams. The Sharks - who won again, by the way, the record now a ridiculous 17-3-1 - have precisely zero starters.
  6. I'd like to advocate a mass protest vote for Dan Boyle. He's the only one remotely close enough to break into the starting lineups.
  7. It's okay. An above average British gangster flick. Kind of makes Guy Ritchie somewhat worthless. Which is a good thing.
  8. Those are really the All-Star teams? Not one starter from the Sharks, the team with the best record in hockey? Ludicruous. I tend to think there ought to be one player from each team, like in baseball, to prevent farces like that.
  9. I'll see your Heath Ledger (if he gets Oscar nominated it ought to be for supporting actor, or not at all) and raise you Jack Nicholson.
  10. And another Sharks win. My favourite player is Joe Thornton, although Dan Boyle and Devin Setoguchi are quickly finding favour with me.
  11. On the plane I watched the Dark Knight again, and I'm upgrading it to a 7/10 as it, oddly, benefited from the scaling back for the aeroplane screen. I also watched the X-Files 2, but I fell asleep half way through, going by what I remember, it was a poor episode spread over an hour and a bit. 3/10
  12. Unsurprisingly, the Sharks win again. And Joe Thornton has started to play!
  13. Where The Buffalo Roam (1980) In theory it's based on the early work of Hunter S Thompson, but actually it's more of a slapstick comedy with a bit of social satire and a suggestion of the life of Oscar Acosta, a lawyer friend of Thompson who ended up dead someplace. It's all right, in parts funny, and Bill Murray is great in the role of the Doc alongside Peter Boyle, but it's a bit of a cartoon and the script sometimes stinks. 5/10
  14. Whereas England will just get loads of bookings for twee stuff like running on the wicket, slow over rates and such and such. Lets not forget, in addition to your list of Aussie batting, Shane Warne will come out of retirement for the next Ashes. I've never been more certain of it.
  15. Somebody scored a hat-trick at the game I was at last week, and it was a blinking nuisance, not to mention a waste of perfectly good headwear, when everyone decided, en masse, to throw their hats onto the ice.
  16. Iron and Wine - Upward Over The Mountain on virtually endless repeat at the moment. Awesome, awesome, awesome song.
  17. Another win for the Sharks, they now have made the third best start in NHL history.
  18. Hadden is a bad 'un and has to go. Actually I think the SRU might go out of business soon enough, our national team is awful and I can't see anyone turning up for the 6 Nations.
  19. Here's a few snaps from Madison Square (Go) Garden...
  20. I watched that and just kept thinking, let the gangsters take your damn boyfriend.
  21. Why did the referees not stop that fight? They were both off their feet. Incidentally, Patrick Roy's son will need to drop that goading thing he seemed to be doing, as he'll end up getting an absolute doing.
  22. Just back in from Madison Square Garden. New York beat Tampa Bay 5-2 in what is a deceptively one sided scoreline. However, if anyone supports either of these teams, it's worth checking out the highlights just to see Lightning goalie Mike Smith lose the plot completely and rack up 19 penalty minutes in a single incident.
  23. I think you are forgetting quite how brutal Scotland are. I'd say Scotland will be luck to keep the deficit to less than thirty points. Hope I'm wrong though.
  24. Going to see the Rangers versus the Lightning playing at Madison Square Gardens in about four hours time. Then staying on in New York for the Calzaghe fight...
  25. Wall-E. Excellent in-flight movie where you don't want too much by way of plot or action. Reminded me of Silent Running a lot. Not sure how the kids would feel about it, but it made me laugh out loud several times. 7/10. Excellent.
