  1. Mille grazie, Italia! Fell asleep half way through extra time and that was pleasant news to wake up to. No repeat of "...there's people on the pitch thwy think it's all over, it is now...^ to have to watch/listen to for decades on end ad nauseam.
  2. Well aware of that but check out what the EoS did with Conference X and King Cup games on the SJC 1st and 2nd round weekends. It would be nice to think that the blazers are suddenly going to get along but it remains to be seen if they will.
  3. The common sense outcome would be that the SCC and SJC are simply merged but it's Scottish football...
  4. Problem associated with that last part is getting all of the tier 6 leagues to free up suitable fixture dates.
  5. You have no idea how jealous that makes me feel. Used to see Foula as this weirdly shaped island out on the far horizon from Dunrossness (8MileBU had a picture on an earlier page from one of the best vantage points but only of St Ninian's Isle and its tombola) but there was zero possibility of ever going there. From what I remember being told Foula folk didn't really welcome visitors back in the old days and always stood upwind from them given how far they were from any high level medical help. Because of how remote it is, it's where the old Norn language of Shetland is generally believed to have died out around the 1780s.
  6. Not sure the Taliban getting back in control in Afghanistan matters so much in the big scheme of things and that's kind of why the Americans are pulling out. As with South Vietnam there's only so long a superpower will support a kleptocratic regime with limited popular support that can't stand on its own two feet. Think the Horn of Africa is the place to watch with the Blue Nile dam dispute and a possible unravelling of Ethiopia on ethnic lines providing scope for all kinds of mayhem. The Americans are taking a surprisingly large amount of interest possibly to counter growing Chinese influence.
  7. Maybe they weren't able to live up to promised player budgets after Broomhill Sports Club severed ties? The phrase "consolidating season" hints at that anyway.
  8. Not looking to get into an argument with you over this but the comments above such as the island that has to be Boreray in that scenario being way too big are still applicable to the clearer picture. From what I can see by map there's no way you can have a gap between Hirta and Boreray if the vantage point is from Lewis and there's nothing that should lie in between like that in the further distance beyond them. With the Shiant Islands you could see a gap between the two main islands from certain parts of Lewis and the smaller more distant island could be something around the northern tip of Skye.
  9. Shiant Islands from the northern side off Lewis maybe? Edit: think it fits what is in this youtube clip:
  10. Only a playoff for the 18th club but even that's a massive sea change in opinion compared to what attitudes were like even just a couple of years ago. Have to question whether some people in HL circles realise just how strong the top half dozen or so Tayside junior clubs are and how close they are to ticking the boxes on licensing.
  11. The question was addressed to Div not to you.
  12. Where do you suggest this season's junior cup should be discussed?
  13. Don't see why. If the South of Scotland league can have its own subforum separate from the Lowland League one, then the Juniors subforum can continue to be used for the Midlands League and the north region that still rightly or wrongly fall under the SJFA. 53 WoS and 7 EoS clubs have also retained SJFA membership and are continuing to participate rightly or wrongly in the Junior Cup.
  14. When the junior superleagues were brought in (Burnieman and cmontheloknow were online arguing about this stuff back then as well) the north superleague was initially supposed to be Tayside + North. There was no enthusiasm for that and eventually the only way the superleagues could be voted through was with Tayside in the east something the old mainly south of the Forth east region definitely didn't want. Would be a wee bit ironic if that was finally the end point to all this now but doubt the extra travel would give top Dundee clubs something signifiantly better than what they could have locally with a ten club Midlands League top tier. You only need to check out the north region's track record in the SJC to realise hooking up with junior clubs from there wouldn't provide Lochee United with something like the east superleague. They really need to get promoted to the HL to have something similar to that again.

    The Sopranos

Same actor as Michael from Mean Streets so a certain irony to that:
  16. We'll see what Fort William do but Dundee is definitely closer to them on probable driving time than Caithness and Orkney with no need for any ferry trips. I suspect Orkney being in the NCL and the low number of games mainly played in glorified public parks is what's likely to steer clubs between Inverness and the Spey towards the north region if they are in that predicament any time soon. Have you heard anything about the north/Tayside superleague thing again recently or is that still from a few months back?
  17. Norway definitely provides a feel for what an independent Scotland could have been like in an alternate timeline:
  18. Think that means most west of the Spey HL clubs will be trying to actively avoid the NCL having learned from Brechin City to be sure to read the small print before it gets implemented. Will be interesting to see what Fort William's choice will be as they are the probable East Stirling in all of this.
  19. Think this should be posted here as well:
  20. Pictures must be mainly Fetlar as I have no idea where that tower would be on the other islands mentioned.
  21. Had a ZX81. The 3D Monster Maze game seemed quite good at the time. Not sure if it got upgraded to a ZX-Spectrum version after that: Doing a computer science course at uni with a line printer and no monitor not long after that is about to launch me into kids today mode so better stop...
