  1. Top drawer performance from the stripes today. Not a bad man on the park for Killie combined with a very poor Pars performance minus the goalie who was easily Dunfermline's best player. Brilliant saves that stopped it being about 5 or 6 zip. Alston had his best game so far and if that level of performance can be replicated next weekend and the weekend after it'll be happy days at Rugby Pugby. On to ICT away now...

  2. Almost every time I've been confident of getting a result this season we've been underwhelming at best, often dropping points against sides we've been expected to beat. I'll stick to being cagey about games until the league is won. Our three and a half performances against Dunfermline haven't been the best this season, and I can only hope that McInnes gets a reaction out of the players because we were very fortunate indeed to get a point on Friday night.

I've seen my team conspire to chuck lesser things away in the past and who knows what this lot are capable of. Prove me wrong, Killie, prove me wrong!

  3. Our final Saturday home game of the season sees us take on the Pars as they look to make Ayr feel more uncomfortable. Given the last time we played each other and it was poor fare all round, I just hope that there's more quality in this game. After Friday night's poor show in Greenock, I hope that Del has our guys working their socks off for a better performance. If we win this one, it's a massive step towards the title.

My prediction? A nervy 2-1 win for Killie. Seems to be the way of things at RP these days.

St Johnstone also have Callum Hendry in the form of his life just now. I wouldn’t fancy any of the playoff hopefuls against them tbh.

I wish we'd have been able to keep him for a bit longer. Earlier in the season I wondered if we'd try to sign him on a pre-contract given how poor the Saintees were, but I can't see us being able to tempt him if they stay up.

St Johnstone are now only 6 points behind St Mirren, who are on a stinking run of form. It's getting to the point where there's a realistic chance that StJ will survive outright, which seems remarkable based on how they played up until about a month ago.

That would be absolutely remarkable for both clubs - I was certain the Buddies would make the top six at one point but given how close the teams in the glob are, it shows just how similar a level a lot of the teams in the Premiership are this season. It'd be some story if the Saintees could escape 11th place, and having re-evaluated things and looked at their recent results, I suppose they've put themselves into a great position to make it a reality. Dundee have looked absolutely humped for a while now though, and inexplicably sacking a manager who might just have been able to get the best out of their players for an auld huddie like Muttley will probably see that they get what they deserve.

  6. In a season where we've squandered so many chances to capitalise on our promotion rivals' stumbles, it's nice to see that after we've stumbled Arbroath have failed to capitalise on our poor performance. We can't afford many more performances like that on Friday though, and given I was worried about the Morton game I'm pleased looking back at it that we've managed to get a point. A huge home game coming up on Saturday now.

  7. I'm still nervous about everything, despite us being in the driving seat. I won't be doing any celebrating until it's confirmed.

In almost any other year, I'd be all-in for Arbroath winning the league, but when it's your own team that's involved then it makes it a wrench to not want the fairytale to happen. Ideally for most Killie fans )I think at least) would be us winning the league and the Lichties winning the playoffs. Given St. Johnstone are finding a bit of form now and I'm fairly sure they'll finish in 11th ahead of Dundee, I think it'll be a struggle for the playoff team to get promoted but it's not impossible. A big month remains, and I'll be gripped for the entirety of it.

  8. We played poorly and probably didn't deserve a point at all, but here we are. Disappointed with the performance, but we take it, count ourselves lucky and move on. Morton will absolutely be challenging for the title next season, where we will be remains to be seen. How good this point is will depend on how the Lichties get on today, but for now I'll consider the positives and move on.

  9. Looking forward to this - a crucial win and a potential banana skin for us, but the momentum is behind us now and it's a great chance to really crank up the pressure on the Lichties by getting the points on the board early on. I don't expect Thistle will do us many favours next weekend given yesterday's game. If I had to predict a score right now I'd say 2-1 to Killie.

I'm starting to worry that all this bad news for Partick is actually an ominous development for Killie...

I keep thinking that too. I keep thinking that Thistle can't be as bad as their last few games but my Jag mate is predicting an easy Killie win. There's one thing that we don't do this season, and that's winning easily...

  11. I'm taking things on a game-by-game basis - the amount of stumbles we've had in this title race would be akin to a seasoned jakey lumbering from one lamppost to another on the hottest day of the year after 4 bottles of wreck the hoose juice. Given what we've experienced I don't think that we can really say there's only two more teams left to beat, we still have six games left and an off-day against any one of them could mean handing the title to Arbroath. This game and the Morton game are the ones that worry me in the short term as, like others have said, we can still switch off during games and allow our opponents chances to hurt us. However, having seen the other side of the coin, we know that we have the capability to really go for the jugular in these games - albeit Ayr were utter dugmeat that night at Somerset. It just depends which team turns up on Saturday, and I hope it's the one that blew away Ayr in 16 minutes.

  12. Made hard work of that today. Once again our finishing - and Oli Shaw lacking composure during a one-on-one - needs worked on. However, we got the win when we needed to dig deep and if we do go on to win the division, nobody of a Killie persuasion will care particularly as to how we do it. On to Thistle at home next week now in a massive game.

  13. Like others have said, both sides will view this as a game that they simply must win - a draw is absolutely nae use to either side. Obviously we're looking for Arbroath to slip up further, but we need to come out and take the game by the scruff of the neck like we did in the first half on Friday. It'd also be nice to stay in control as it looked at times like we were about to shíte the bed against ten men.

I've never been a fan of the cliché about every game being a cup final when teams need to win, but it's getting close to that territory now. This league is full of surprises and I wouldn't be surprised if there's more to come in the run-in.

Add to that, I've got a wee soft spot for Queens and don't want to see you guys go down - but at times like these you get selfish and you don't care who the opposition are when you're needing to grab as many points as possible. Hope that you guys can sort things out and do the business - after this weekend, however.

  14. A bloodbath at the piggery and a weekend of dreams for Killie. I really, really hope that this is the turning point in a season where there have been far, far too many false dawns. Couldn't believe how dominant we were and if it wasn't for that one daft pass that led to McInroy's goal - a very well-taken strike -I suspect we'd have added another before half time. Ayr definitely seemed to get their act together but once it got to 75/80 minutes it seemed like they were huffing and puffing with no real chance of getting it back to a draw. Definitely one to remember for Killie and as much as I can understand why Ayr fans left after 16 minutes, it's not a great look when you've still got the best part of 75 minutes to go in the game. Part-timers.

Onwards to next week and a potentially tough game against a side fighting for their lives.

  15. Happy with that. A good Killie performance, especially in the second half, against an Accies side who looked very poor and didn't do much at all to trouble Hemming in goal. Did fine without needing to risk injuring Lafferty, but our finishing needs improving big time - the amount of chances that were squandered in the first half alone by not being able to get shots on target was criminal.

With Arbroath winning, we needed that win badly. Friday night is absolutely huge now and I hope our players show the same determination that they did yesterday down at Somerset.

  16. No idea what to expect and no idea if Lafferty will play. I suspect it might be as simple as he plays, we win given how his form has been for us. If he's unfit and all we have is Oli Shaw then abandon hope.

The team will be a stronger team than Wednesday night's experimental side that chucked the game against the Rovers, but how they'll play I've no idea. We looked devoid of creativity against a poor Pars side last Saturday.
