  1. Are you hedging your bets with that statement?
  2. I suppose it'll be soon, and it's all down to the time and training clubs are putting in now, as there's little point in hiring top class facilities to have your unofficial training sessions otherwise, is there?
  3. If Darvel can afford to splash the cash about like this it certainly sin't sustainable, we're all aware of that. One thing's for sure, Talbot won't compete with them financially and break their pay structure - we didn't do it when Medda were doing similar. If the new money thing seems to be the way forward I genuinely hope they taste some success before it all ends, inevitably, in tears.
  4. Deluded? No, it's Darvel chasing a very good striker because they think their cheap new money makes them a big fish. Reality is they're a second division outfit who've won nowtl. Why else do you think somebody from the top club in the grade might want to sign for Darvel?
  5. Think you'll find it's Darvel flirting with Samson. Money and what have you.
  6. I note of the Talbot FB page there's news of a further announcement to come shortly. Tucker unearthed another gem nobody else has heard of?
  7. Provisional fixture lists are out today, starting October 17th for SPFL. Whether we'll start on that date or not is anybody's guess, but there's still much to do to ensure it can still go ahead.
  8. Superb news that Craig McCracken has signed an extended deal today. That's all last season's squad now signed up. Bring it on.
  9. They are setting themselves up for the mother of all falls. They can be proud of what they have done, but to go shouting about it being better than Celtic, Rangers and Hampden is new money going daft. They do themselves no favours at all.
  10. The best of luck with floodlighting, it's real difficult one to finance. We've managed to secure funding from various sources, fans, sponsors, draws and others. Work is progressing well at Beechwood at the moment, although there's still a lot to do before we're up and running. Car park lights are being erected this morning, and the stand lighting was completed week before last. Think the first games under lights at those grounds that get them will be very special affairs.
  11. There were no general strikes in the 1940s. The only General Strike in the UK was famous "Nine days in May" in 1926.
  12. I started a new thread in this section "Where is the Darvel thread?" There were a few posts on it early on, but when I went back later it had been removed. I don't mind things being removed if they are clearly in breach of P&P policy, but this quite clearly wasn't.
  13. No. You're conflating opinion with facts. The stakeholders were there to give their opinions, the panel though was there to look at the facts. If they'd have wanted opinions to decide they'd just have read all the shite that's been posted about it on here.
  14. I assume you are admin by the word "our policy" so could you please advise why my thread "where's the Darvel thread gone" was removed? It certainly didn't break any of the policies regarding ethnicity, gender etc, neither was it anything to do with hate, and yet it was unilaterally removed without my being informed. Is freedom of speech now at a premium on P&B?
  15. So you can't back your original statement up? Thought so....
  16. You've plucked a figure out of the air, can not back it up. If you can, name the source of the "former player" otherwise you're better off keeping your mischief and disinformation to yourself.
  17. You read only what you want to read. As I said before, it's common knowledge what Talbot pay, it's all discussed and down on the business of the AGM. What is so funny, is that every keyboard warrior on here knows differently. "Shankland held out for another tenner" the "Big Goalie" had the pay structure broken to keep him at Beechwood instead of going to Newlandsfield. Jealousy is a cruel mistress.
  18. There's an awful lot of knowledgeable folk out there whos eem to be aware of Talbot's pay structure. It's no secret, and it's discussed annually at every AGM which every fan can attend. We've had the discussion before about how Talbot fund their buys. It's a fallacy to say that they pay big money, and Tucker often goes down the leagues to find the likes of Steven White and PeeWee at Annbank. Samson didn't cost us a penny either, I'm led to believe. Keyboard warriors really do get themselves hot under the collar about what Talbot pay. We're a top club, and have been for many years, but we have a sustainable pay structure and you rarely ever say a poor player bought in with money. What folk don't understand, or simply don't want to understand, is the ethos that runs through the club, from Tucker and the players, through the committee, and the fans. There's no discernable difference there, and it's why players don't leave, they love being part of the set up. It's why each and every one of them pays £10 per monthy into the Talbot transfer / contract renewal fund. It's why the club has more testimonials by a country mile, over and above any other Junior club. Players that follow the money don't tend to have loyalty, and can be prised away by the next transfer and offer of better money. Note to keyboard warriors...everything is above board at Beechwood, and the information easily accessible. If you think Talbot are paying well over the odds you're obviously on the wrong thread.
  19. Schools aren't back yet though, Jim, just the children of key workers. The First Minister is saying she's wanting all children back in by August 11th. I hope that's achievable, but not convinced it'll happen. When the children are back at school they will be socially distanced, strictly supervised, and washing their hands routinely throughout the day. I don't see the game stopping for an over exuberant tackle so everyone can wash their hands or what have you. There is so much to do before the game can be played to a high standard of safety again. I assume the clubs have it in hand in discussions with the relevant authorities. I'm of the opinion that socially distanced football can take place with crowds at places like Beechwood, but perhaps with the 500 limit as was suggested just prior to shutdown. Games would need to be made all ticket to enable this to happen (got my season ticket ordered) and if it's properly administered, there could be a rush on season ticket sales which would also hand Tucker a war chest for whenever he needs it. Like most folk I want to see our game back, but I don't want to see it back rushed, and not thought through properly, because it means so much to so many people to have it up and running safely. I can wait for that.
  20. Butch learned his trade under the very best so he'll know all about the value of teamwork over individualism. If he's got Tucker's eye for spotting gems that nobody else is interested in down the leagues he'll put together a semi decent squad. Sounds like some folk are expecting results straight away. Worth remembering when Tucker came to Talbot he had to save them from relegation in the first season, and then another three seasons before the 2006 Double. It was then three more seasons before they lifted the Junior Cup again to set them off on their current run of success. Cut Butch some slack, let him make the odd mistake, and am sure success will come - but probably not as quickly as some fans seem to want.
  21. Could be the next Stevie Mallan? Experience would be the greatest asset.
