  1. A bit puzzling with Kennedy coming back in - makes a mockery of the nonsense he spouted the last time about how he was only interested to save the club, he had no intention of making money out of it, put it on a secure footing.

Well, the future is secure now (apparently), so he is seen for what he really is, a guy wanting to make money off Rangers, I have no problem with anyone getting involved in football to make a bit of money if its available - but why lie with all the future stuff?

  2. Say it panned out as you suggest. Instead of the Scottish football authorities fast-tracking 'NewCo Rangers' straight back into the SPL to keep Sky TV interested, maybe Sky TV would find it interesting to cover the adventures of NewCo Rangers on TV as they start life at the bottom of the pile and undoubtably rise quickly through the leagues. Think about it. NewCo Rangers, papped to the bottom of the pile, would be playing away in tiny venues with very low capacities. Teams in Divs 3, 2, and then 1 would benefit from sell-outs when NewCo Rangers came to town, and if Sky TV covered every NewCo Rangers away game live, it would allow NewCo Rangers fans who couldn't get tickets to these tiny away grounds to watch their team.

Sky might find this more attractive TV than run-of-the-mill SPL fodder. Maybe they could do a docu-soap to run along their live NewCo Rangers games, like 'The Osbournes'.... cameras following the supporters to far flung glamourous locales like Methil and Peterhead. Behind-the-scenes coverage... a whole world of possibilities.

If they put NewCo Rangers kits having Irn Bru patches sewn on the sleeves on live TV - I'd pay £15 to see it on pay-per-view no worries.

Not a bad prediction from the first few pages Poz :P

  3. Its quite funny that the fans are only getting a 30% reduction in season ticket money, they are being royally raped for the third division, they get a game less to start with, the cheapest ticket is still dearer than a lot of SPL clubs season tickets.

I know they talk of packing Ibrox out every week but It wouldnt surprise me if they are lucky to get 15,000 most weeks, especially at those prices.

They are also trying to hijack Amy McDonalds scotland song Pride, suggesting its about Rangers and not about Scotland despite it being quite public what its about, people see what they want to see.

  4. Well they can put however many stars on their shirt as they like. There is no shirt design protocol and no body that awards stars or anything like that.

The SFA are engaged in the negotiations to transfer the membership, they want the club to continue because they want to issue their sanctions. They can't give Sevco a new membership and expect to place sanctions on it.

Example. I buy your car from your estate because you got caught drink driving and topped yourself. I wouldn't have to take on the penalty points, ban or jail sentence just because I bought your car.

(In this case Ibrox and Murray Park are the Car)

If I was also to buy your corpse and re-animate it to be my chauffeur then that sums up where we are now.

Its simple really, technically the history dies with the club, but if they want to keep that history they are being afforded that opportunity by being punished, they can legally say that its not their problems, it was the previous company but it brings a raft of new problems if they do that, mainly not being able to transfer the membership.

  5. So the Club existed as something other than a company before 1899. Surely that bolsters the argument that a football club is not a company but rather an entity solely defined by the governing bodies, in this case the SFA.

Its like any other business - you can be a sole trader and then become a limited company - but when the company liquidates you dont get to go back to being a sole trader.

A club and a company are the same thing, whether it is a limited company or just a non limited company, its one and the same thing.

  6. They might see it as a way of having Davis in at the start of the season, in the grand scheme of things £800 k in the EPL is not that significant financially given the SKY money on offer.

Im pretty sure they would have just deducted it from a bigger signing on fee anyway, thats the main benefit in being free, instead of clubs getting the money you get a much better personal deal.

  7. Can I just say Im delighted that it looks like the transfer ban will let them sign players before the season starts with their number one target seeming to be Gary Teale, if we somehow got him off the wage bill it would be the biggest shocker of the season - please just dont let anyone know he would struggle in the third, let alone the spl.

I also saw this and thought of Sevco.

  8. I really feel we could now be set for a fantastic few years that will re-shape and invigorate the game.

The TV deal is going to be worth millions for at least 3 years to the SFL, and if they play their cards right and insist on a 5 year deal, these leagues and teams will improve, facilties will improve, if SPL money reduces then we will have a tightening up from bottom to top seeing far more competition in the cups and leagues overall.

  10. And the profiteering begins.

If you are going to sell out and invite them in make sure you can sell the rights to 75 matches instead of 25 ;)

Good on the SFL, the SPLs offer to pay 1m for the rights was ridiculous, there is every reason to think the SFL could do extremely well out of Rangers going through the leagues, a 3 year deal before everyone realises how shite the 3rd division is to actually watch would surely see a deal of 3 or 4 million a year.

  11. Is it just me, or is this thread running out of steam now?

If Rangers were to vanish for a season, I don't think it would have as much impact as what has happened so far.

If they were to go off and play in another country, citing irreconcilable differences, that would be interesting, I suppose. Australia?

I wanted to see them punished, severely, but the whole thing's like a limp rag now if they quietly go off and play in the Third. We need some AGGRO. Hate figures. Couldn't even bring myself to despise Doncaster on the radio the other night. It would have been like kicking a puppy. Maybe I'm just soft.

Peaks and troughs, there is a few more things ahead which will see it swell again before it finally has its death throws and heads off to the promised land of P&B gold.

  12.

I almost wish LOL@Celtic still posted here.

"Fizzy pop league -------------------------------------------> That way"

He will have reverted to his big team - Dumbarton, lording it over the diddies two leagues below them this season.

Should anyone ever start feeling a bit of sympathy for Rangers fans, just think back to this helmet and remember how bad they can be, even in the face of adversity - brings a warm glow to your heart biggrin.gif

  13. Having had a wee read at Rangers Media this morning, it still seems that the general feeling among the support is that the SFA are out to get them and they have been treated appallingly.

For any of our friends from said site (or Follow Follow or wherever else you may be coming from) - so far you have had nothing but favours from the SFA yet have pretty much done everything in your power as a club to bite the hand that feeds you.

    • Transfer ban instead of a suspension or expulsion - appealed - one bitten hand.
    • Fasttracked into the third division instead of being made to apply like any other club would - second bitten hand.

You now have the choice - the fans say its the same club with the same name and the same history and the titles etc will count, but the cost of that is 3m and taking the punishment of the old club, which Id say is pretty fair really given the whack of debt that has been written off.

Green says that they are oldco when its convenient to the authorities, yet he will still be claiming the money owed from Everton for Jelavic to the newco so it works both ways, he wants to keep moneys owed to oldco but not pay out monies owed to oldco football creditors, id say its very much the opposite and Sevco and its fans are using oldco when its convenient, to save money, to be fast tracked into the leagues but just want to drop all that pesky football debt and punishments with the oldco.

Shit or get off the pot time - if its newco, thats great, pick a new name, scrap the history and start again, all is forgiven? No, theres nothing to forgive its a new company. If you want the history and the name, put your hand in your pocket, man up, take the punishment and get moving without the threats and nonsense that the SFA are having to put up with. Everyone knows the powers that be made a monumental cock up from the start but if these men who are in power remain, there has to be a line drawn in the sand where everyone stops beating them with a stick.

  14. Heres an old classic from Jim Traynor

    "

CRAIG Whyte plans to pump at least £25million into Rangers for new players over the first five years of his ownership if his bid to buy the club succeeds.

The 39-year-old Scots business tycoon is in talks with Rangers owner David Murray and although Whyte declared yesterday negotiations are at an "early stage" the Ibrox club could be in new hands before January.

And if Whyte pushes through his £32m bid for control after his due diligence period has been completed he plans to hand Rangers' manager a minimum of £5m at the start of each season. But there could be more millions available for players and wages depending on whether or not Rangers are generating cash from European competition.

These figures might not set pulses racing among Rangers fans but they would be a dramatic improvement on the stark financial realities facing the club right now as manager Walter Smith copes with a threadbare squad."
