In 1940 Alfred Wainwright was seconded to Angus County Council Treasurer's Office from Blackburn Council. Whilst here he perfected his distinctive guide book writing and illustrating style. His first publication, A Guide to the Forfar Path Network & Balmashanner, is highly sought after. In 1999 a signed copy was sold at auction for £750.00.

Also referred to as the 'Up Bummie' guide.

Highly sought after in Brighton for some reason..?

This brand has come out nowhere. See i everywhere now.

Enjoyed for a change and have one more which I'll neck at the weekend.

I've heard it was popular in Spain but obviously there's been a deal with brewers/companies to promote it here.

Like most lagers it has to be really cold when opened.

Anyone seen swallows yet ? Not one around Ayrshire (in my usual spots anyway) which is very odd.

I'm a bit late on this, but yes Swallows have started to appear over the weekend, Not many but hopefully more should as they have over the years. They seem to enjoy looking around from the phone wire to the house.

Fairly convinced these are Swallows and not Swifts/House Martins, but I'm no expert..

Yes I know (in PnB tradition) pic's or GTF..🤥

  4. Visit to Dundee on the bus with Mrs b-l.

Had drinks in the Trades, then a really nice lunch at Rama Thai.

The bus times didn't quite work out with the connection to get us home (which was kinda annoying), but overall a really good day out. 👍

OK, some guy threw up in the bar (and toilet) whilst we waited on the last bus connection, but in a strange kinda way it added to the overall experience...

I should add that the guy came back to the bar and tried to get a half pint before he left as he was feeling much better.

He was refused on this occasion..😄

The sound editing on Radio Scotland, perhaps most obviously on OTB when the volume of the songs is twice as loud as the conversations.

Noticed it more of late listening to shows whilst in the bath and not being able to turn down the infrequent near- deafening parts.

TV adverts seem to be pitched at a much higher volume than the programme they interupt. Very annoying, more than a petty thing IMO.

New 'sister' on the cards... ?

We rely on friendly neighbours to look after them (well only him now) if we are away. Not sure they would welcome a newbie as they're not really cat people.

Also how Mr James himself would react. He's a spoilt wee sh*te, but we love him to bits.

Much quicker to get the train to Stranraer than the A77.

The train journey to Stranraer is a must do. Single line from Girvan, old rolling stock and it goes much further in-land than you'd expect.

I've taken the bike down there a few times, cycled back up the A77 to Turnberry. Veer off the main road and head up to Ayr.

Holding up the traffic on the A77 - I reckon I've been called much worse than a moron...
