  1. Will be due a new phone in a couple of months and looking for recommendations. Last 2 phones have been Huawei (P10 Lite and P30) but the lack of Google support puts me of getting another.

I'm liking the look of the Oppo Reno4. I'd also previously considered a OnePlus a couple of years back but I think they've become a bit more mainstream and unfortunately so have their prices. Not really fussed about getting a "top end" phone but something with 5g would be preferable.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Like others, I'd recommend Xiaomi. I got an Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro just over two years ago. In absolutely no rush to replace as it's still fast and works great. Comfortably the best phone I've ever owned.
  2. Sounds like iBroadcast could be an option for you then if you decided on something other than Apple and prefer to simply stream your own music library. It's not as easy to navigate as Google Play Music but it's free, you can chuck as much of your own music in it as you like and then you can then listen to it wherever you are (pretty much).
It looks a great service but I do like a mix of stuff from a streaming service and stuff from my own collection (obscure stuff that's not on iTunes and live stuff). Don't think ibroadcast has a streaming service?
  3. 100% agree with this. Google Play Music was great as a music "locker" and although I didn't use it for streaming having been forced onto YouTube Music I can confirm that the latter is a steaming pile of shite. It's clearly not ready and doesn't offer anything close to feature parity with Google Play Music and I genuinely cannot believe a company as huge as Google could make such a balls up.  Avoid.

Of the other "main" streaming services I'd be inclined to go with Spotify. It's pretty easy to navigate (unlike YTM) and you always get offers for free trials so you could seek one of those out and give it a bash. Tidal is another option but that is perhaps more for audiophiles. Amazon Music interface I find pretty "clunky" but if you are a Prime member you get a wee discount every month and there is a HD music option as well for a few pounds more. No experience of Apple Music. Bandcamp is a good "ethical" suggestion as it claims to pay artists a fairer share of revenue.

If you are looking for a music "locker" replacement for Google Play I use ibroadcast. It can be a bit confusing to navigate but you can stick all your music into the cloud and then stream it to your phone or tablet wherever you have an internet connection.
I liked Google Play Music for the music locker ability. I like being able to upload my own music and integrate with my streaming library. I'm not typically a big Apple fan but I gave it a shot with the forced move to YouTube music and I've been impressed.
  4. £12.50 per game. Surprised we aren't using the pixelot system - staying with our current stream providers. Wish they could get a better camera/set up, feels like you're watching from the Law.
Dundee apparently use the same providers as most of the Premiership but the product seems comparatively poor. I watched an Aberdeen game on Red TV recently and it was indistinguishable from a TV game....yet the Dundee effort is amateurish.
  5. Streaming definitely isn't a substitute for going to the game. Just for me personally, I'm never going to get to Dens more than 5 times a season nowadays. I'd probably stream most weeks if I could though.

Not having a go, but interested to see if this mindset holds up once you start experiencing the streams.
Every one I've watched, bar Rangers, has had at least 4/5 blackout moments. The Kilmarnock game i missed all 3 goals, 20 minutes of the first half and the final 10 minutes, due to the stream dropping/lagging, which the media team admitted was their error. Its not improving at all as time goes on, and thats with clubs who have run their own PPV type set ups flawlessly before.
This Pixellot thing is absolutely dreadful aswell, for anyone going with that.
  6. I get what you're saying but I doubt there's a top flight club outside Rangers or Celtic that can make it worthwhile selling Robertson. The market is different at that level just now too and even Aberdeen and Hibs are not going to be getting near £100k just now. I'm not convinced it's Robertson it the other facts are true. Not sensing it's an Old Firm club that is the Premiership club in question

  7. Its fairer to promote one team who weren't guaranteed it, but not a team a few points behind, than relegate a team who are bottom after 79% of the season has been played?
You could legitimately claim the season could end after 33 games, at which point you're saving a team bottom with 9% of the season left.
I'd say it is fairer. Relegation will be a bigger blow for Hearts and Partick (who both could stay up) than the teams in 3rd/4th missing out on a playoff opportunity. If we'd ended the league at the same stage last season, my own team would have stayed up. Things can easily change for both those clubs.

It's clearly not perfect, but there will be not be a solution that will suit every club. The teams missing out on their playoff will at least get the benefit of an easier league on paper next season too.
  8. I would have thought that a move to permanent 14-14-14 would be more likely to succeed.

It would imho remove opposition from Falkirk, Partick and Hearts - clubs in playoff positions in the Championship (or vying for) would be the only ones where it could be seen as unfair - of those only Dundee (and possibly Dunfermline) might be opposed.

The one thing that could scupper that would be opposition from the Premiership teams.
I think a solution that leads to no relegation is the fairest solution, short of finishing the season. If a temporary reconstruction means Caley go up and not Dundee, so be it. It's not fair but it's infinitely fairer than relegating Hearts and Partick.
  9. The "deserve to go down" argument is utter pish. No team "deserves" to go down or win a league if it was still mathematically possible not to be in that position at the completion of the season.
The last game was played on 11 March 2020. As at 11 March 2019, Dundee were sitting 11th. Dundee deservedly went down in the end by a big margin. It is far from unlikely that Hearts or Partick or both would stay up if fixtures fulfilled.
  10. McPake has a tough decision to make on Hamilton. Based on last year's form, he wasn't good enough. However, there must have been a keeper in there at some point (he did get in the Scotland squad) and will be a higher earner. Not easy to justify a wage on a further goalie after 4 clean sheets.

I suspect he'll be given the next 5 weeks and if he gets through them well, he won't be replaced. I'm hoping the clean sheets of late will bring him confidence. Coupling that with a drop in level and he might be okay.

  11. I just wish we'd get a fucking move on and sign some more players.

If May is not signing then just withdraw the offer and move on.

A definite "No" from me for Brian Graham - one decent season in the seaside leagues does not make you a striker - and I don't want another Ross County reject at Dens tyvm!!

Lafferty/Cummings are both absolute bellends in their different ways but I'd have both in a heartbeat - that being said there is bound to be a Premiership team in for them before us - not unless we throw money at them (like another club not a million miles away).

At this stage we need a couple of strikers, a creative midfielder and a centre half (who can cover the full backs). I know some have said we also need a goalie but at this point that is way down the priority list.
Graham far from exciting but would be a good option. Whilst not a Premiership player, he knows this league well and has been a part of league winning teams in recent years.
  12. Any Dundee guys coming down to Kirkcaldy on Saturday and fancy a pint of real ale. The Harbour Bar does 5 or 6 ales normally and has a pie menu with 9 different pies. From mince to a nice spicy chicken curry a few different steak fillings such as kidney, stilton or just gravy. It's about a twenty minute walk to the ground. If your coming by trai get a taxi at the station. If your driving come into Kirkcaldy and keep on the road that takes you down to the tall flats then right at the roundabout and the bar is opposite the harbour.
I was in Kirkcaldy a few weeks ago and was in for a pint. Good place and the pie was nice (steak and black pudding).
  13. Apparently Dundee have made an offer for Michael Tidser at Morton. Not sure if its a PCA since he's out of contract in the summer or if you're trying to get him just now. Would be gutted for him to leave us especially just now.
I remember he was very highly regarded a few years ago. Is he still capable of playing in the top league?
  14. It's a great phone - the only things folk might complain about is no NFC (but I have a phone case that has my card in it anyway, so no worries for me), the charger not being type C (again, I don't know why people get their knickers in a twist about this so much?) and no face unlock (but I've never had a phone with that and the finger print works like a dream).
Aye, nothing there I miss. Looking forward to seeing how it goes once the new phone novelty wears off
  15. Asked for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro for Christmas after smashing my Note 4 a few months ago and refusing to replace it. What a difference,  so nice and phone is so sharp with a great screen (my old screen was a replacement, so dull in comparison to the original!). I can already see the prices for the new Xiaomi branch in the UK are higher than gearbest, so no surprises there. But glad I bought this before they really kicked in, hopefully they continue to sell the global versions elsewhere for cheaper. Camera is much better and for £150, it really is an absolute steal and tbh I'm starting to realise why the apple c*nts that I've slagged for years could sort of fall in love with a tech brand as I absolutely love Xiaomi's products. Initially had the fear about buying this as it wasn't getting great reviews, but I think that was more in comparison to the Note 5 Pro where there isn't that much of a difference so my step up from the Note 4, including the increase in storage and memory, I definitely saw a huge difference. Would recommend!
Just got this phone yesterday after an upgrade from Maya Max. Very good so far.

I didn't go through Gearbest on this occasion as was able to get a good deal from Amazon (Gearbest would have been £20 or so cheaper but have taken longer to come).
