  1. I think the oddest thing that's happened in this entire endeavour is that Off The Ball is now an essential piece of listening.

Their both proper fans. I've seen Cosgrove at umpteen Saints games, always pays to get in and always sits with the rank and file. Absolutly no whiff of the superiority complex that literally drips off your usual media types.

Its no surprise to me him and Cowan are giving a balanced, objective and fan orientated appraisal of the situation. Its a welcome alternative to the Traynors, Chicos and Keevins off the west coast media.

No I understand that semantic argument well.

I did not say I was OK with it, I stated that it may be a necessary evil.

What has happened to newcos in other leagues? Have they had to start again from the bottom every time?

It should never, ever be necessary to passport a new team into one of the top leagues for money. If so then the competition itself deserves to go tits up IMO.

Other leagues can do as they wish with newcos, the second the senior Scottish league gives a new team a leg up for a few quid is the day I stop spending money watching Scottish football.

  3. Quality stuff GD as per.

So what do you think realistically?

Personally I believe a functioning Rangers and Celtic are important for the well being of Scottish football. More importantly, I care more about whether or not there is a Motherwell to support than satisfying some urge inside me to see the OF wiped out.

I'm coming round to the idea now that if a compromise can be found (say 3 up.next season) with rangers in sfl1 as long as it involves more equitable voting rights and prize money distribution, with guaranteed money down the leagues, top league expansion (I'm all about 14) some kind of long term sanction then I might support it.

I've gone from wanting Rangers obliterated to wanting them in div 3 to now being OK with div 1 as long as there's more concessions on offer.

I don't believe in optimistic nonsense that killing Rangers will somehow magically improve the game, in fact I believe it will damage it. SPL clubs STILL won't accept reconstruction and the commercial value of our game drops massively, unfortunately, with no OF.

I lost my hardon for killing rangers a couple of months ago. What do you think?

I think your missing the point. Rangers cannot be "killed", they are already dead. What you are "ok with" is a new team leapfrogging two divisions and passing themselves off as a Rangers clone.

That is fundamentally wrong no matter who they are imitating. New club = third division (after a fair application process) No exceptions.

  4. I tried to listen to yesterday's Clyde SSB but got about 3 minutes in before I had to turn it off. John Brown is an arrogant scrote of a man.

It was painful to listen to. I turned it off the second they put the caller through that crawled right up JB's arse. Ill informed, scaremongering ball sacks. Never thought I'd ever be grateful for living in an area that receives tay fm.

  5. Love the sheer arrogance of Sevco fans through this. "fuk them we'll just go down to the third devision" are they that thick that they don't realise that they need to apply to join and don't have a Devine right just to go straight in? The funniest thing in this whole saga would be if they get knocked back from the SFL1 then cant get into D3 and considering what fan power has done so far .....

I'd be interestsed to know how they propose to pay the bills from a third division income stream. Another "loan" from sevco paid back with interest?

  6. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/rangers/9376851/Rangers-hopes-of-reprieve-in-SPL-vote-sunk-by-arrogant-Malcolm-Murray.html#

The expectation beforehand within the SPL – shared by the Scottish Football Association – was that the outcome would be another deferral, leaving it to the Scottish Football League clubs to accept Rangers into their ranks and sparing the top division chairmen from a decision they did not want to make.

There were also some who hoped that Rangers would be able to make sufficient case – coupled with a clear and evident change of attitude – for their admission to the SPL.

However – and not for the first time in this saga – Rangers utterly misread the mood of the other SPL clubs. The faux pas occurred despite the fact that Rangers had been briefed at a meeting on Sunday attended by two other SPL chairmen and a vice-chairman, who stressed the need for humility.

Murray, in blazer and club tie, arrived at the gathering on Wednesday with the frontman for the Sevco consortium, Charles Green – who did not sport the club’s uniform – and Ally McCoist, the Ibrox manager. A presentation brochure was distributed to the delegates.

The back page featured a photograph of a Rangers title win with the words “We Are Rangers” emblazoned across it.

SPL Chairmen are playing a blinder, say they'll vote no then a wave of fans snap up season tickets then they keep the vote delayed until the very last minute, then say circumstances have changed and for the best interests of our club we simply have to vote yes. The 'boycot' from the fans would then be pointless as most will have paid for their tickets anyways, and then there would be a full season for the fans feelings to have calmed down, of which they eventually will and everything goes along as normal.

I suspect many refunds will be demanded

Your club will shortly be liquidated, but good news, they sold the ground to a character called Green. Will you be supporting the new club or dying with the old one?

"We are Sevco 5088, We are Sevco 5088, no one likes us, we don't care"...nup....need some new songs. It's gonna take some work to get some decent ones.

Your only here to see the Sevco?
