Just a shame that Cove are ahead, think it'll be beyond us to overhaul that gap now.

A point being lost in the Dumbarton/East Fife game is better news than a home win for sure, but I'd much rather East Fife won.

I'd rather increase the gap on both by 2 points each to help avoid automatic relegation and the playoff spot but I see your point too. Watching the stream today, I'm just incredulous that we are where we are in the table. Not complaining (about the points total) though.

I was at the game. First half visibility was much better than second half, possibly helped with some daylight still creeping through. Sun set, fog dropped, lifted a wee bit then dropped again. Game should really have been called before second half started if the ref had any concern.

I was at the game and took the 2 pictures. 2 minutes to kick off was way worse than when he stopped it. If he was so worried he should never have started it.

Fair do's, my long sightedness must have been an advantage today then. Agree with your final comment - especially when ref's seem to be more than happy to call off a 3pm game due to a frozen pitch based on an 8am inspection.

Those two pictures I took tell a very different story, but you believe what you like. And there was no blatant penalty.

  4. Great result is the best that can be said for the game. Alloa playing tippy-tappy passing with very little penetration (sound familiar Clyde fans?) and Clyde just chasing the ball around. Main observations from me are:

    • Midfield has no eye for a quick through ball - which Goody is desperate for
    • Ally Love runs himself into the ground - great work ethic
    • Goody, at his height has infinitely more skill and ability at winning headers and holding off big lump defenders than his 6' 7" "strike partner" - it was a masterclass today from DGW on how to win. hold up and release the ball. Jones, just no. I can't even say he ran his socks off like Love. Two decent traps of the ball in 90 mins does not a good performance make.
    • Richie saying that Connor Sammon makes him look handsome is really stretching things

Took in the game today with my son who is 9. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed it.

First half Clyde were absolutely horrendous and could easily have been more than 2 down due to a severe lack of defensive know how, and effort it seemed. The Penalty on half time gave them a route back into the game they didn't really deserve.

Second half and Clyde looked like a different team. They were snapping at Peterhead from the off, the urgency in their play far removed from the apathy shown in the 1st period. Goodwillie showed why he is so pivotal to the Bully Wee with a fantastic equaliser. In the words of my son "he sent the defender to the shops".

Clyde continued to press and were looking likely to take the lead but couldn't quite find the elusive 3rd. Despite how unpopular Jones seems to be with the Clyde Support, I felt he offered far more than Tade and Clyde noticeably dropped off after that change was made.

For the last 20 it was anyone's game with chances at either end. A draw was probably about right.

The wee man loved the noise and atmosphere shown by the Clyde fans we were sitting amongst and was asking in the car when we can go again! All in all great value for his £1 entry fee👍🏻

I would say you summed up the game very well there and glad your son enjoyed it.

  6. Horrific first half, reasonable second half. In the first half, all Peterhead had to do was give the ball to their full back and tell them to run at their Clyde opposite number. Knock it 10 yards in front and breeze past them then cross into the box. Ref had a bit of a shocker today as well, highlights I remember:

    • Jones being booked for getting kicked in the area
    • no foul for a kick to the head on Livingstone
    • sprinting as fast as possible to book Tade

and for fairness, I thought that Peterhead could have had a couple of penalty shouts toward the end, especially Docherty trying to haul back the striker in the box and bizarrely the PH player not claiming for it.

No disrespect to Clyde but they are by and far one of the worst teams in the league and if we want to be anywhere outside either bottom 2 we shouldn't be settling for a point against them.

Our poor finishing and awful defending (yet again!!!) cost us a win today. The problem is that we have played East Fife and Clyde now and have 1 point to show for it. We are also one of the poorest sides in the league on current form.

From what I saw on the stream it was two Vanilla teams playing out a draw. Nothing I saw suggests that Dumbarton were hard done to today.

We have had some blistering starts to seasons only to us sink into mid table mediocrity by the September weekend.

In the 80's I remember Des Walker scoring great goals for fun and then Adam Proudlock giving us early day hope roundabout Y2K.

What a start to a season that was. Didn't we score 5 in back to back games? One of them V Thistle where they had 2 sent off? Davie Irons and someone else. Lambie said they would never play for the club again, then they were back by Christmas?

  9. So now that is has been shown that just because all of your opponents and teammates, who played 48hrs previously off the back of a negative test for that game, could actually have contracted covid since then and only sheer fate might warn you before kick off of that fact - will the EF players stick to their guns and refuse to play out the rest of the season in order to protect their heavily pregnant or shielding wives?

All players across all leagues who started this season and have continued to do have done so at risk. A risk they have obviously calculated as worth taking and knowing that risk is not just to them.

The season should never have started until the pandemic was under control and fans could get into the stadia.

Queer tactics from Cove at Ibrox to start off with. Made the pitch very big and tried to play out from the back. I thought they done well once they packed that in. Although I expect Rangers' quality and intensity would've come through whatever the case was. Losing 4-0 away to Rangers is nothing to be ashamed about in my opinion.

Be a far less cagey affair at Broadwood tomorrow of course. I doubt either team would be happy with less than all three points. Very hard to guess how it'll go because there's such a question mark hung over player selection and fitness levels for both sides.

Sounds like the Barry Ferguson brainwave of "lets play expansive football at Ibrox", leading to a 7-1(?) pumping.

  11. This may be "old school" an opinion but what stood out for me in the first half was a lack of conviction in the challenge from Robertson and Shiels - losing all 50-50's and putting us on the back foot. On that point alone I would add Love as an honourable addition to David W's list of standouts. He threw himself into blocks, chased back and had that "it's my ball" attitude that makes the opponent have to work to get anything.
