  1. Agreed that 3-5-2 looks worth try. Absolutely no chance should Murray be playing wing back though, he doesn't have the positional awareness for that. I'd play Lyon over Osman as well.
  2. If it’s not a winger to allow us to play 4-4-2 then I hope it’s a CB so we can go 3-5-2. 4-3-3 needs binned.
  3. Happy enough with that, he was a player I hoped would sign in the summer so glad to have finally got him. He will bring much needed energy and presence to the middle of the park. Too much to ask for another winger today?
  4. Have we tried switching our radar off and back on again?
  5. Of course not, but whilst I'm not laying the blame completely at their feet I'm not willing to absolve them of any either just because they are new. No-one comes out of it looking great to be honest, but I would lay most of the blame with the manager. Starting Brownlie and not starting Hamilton were both massive errors.
  6. Brownlie officially gone. Well after the send off he gave us all I can really say is cheerio ya fucking dick! http://www.qosfc.com/news-4909
  7. Conceded 3 goals and lost to the team at the bottom of the league.
  8. Really frustrating that Johnston can't see this given it is in the "blatantly fucking obvious" category. He's signed some utter shite but I have a degree of sympathy towards him for this as I'm sure it can't be easy building a squad on our budget. Coupled with his inability to get the best out of the squad he's assembled though and it doesn't reflect well on him. He should have been emptied after the Queens Park debacle.
  9. Yeah all of this. I think I defended him when others used to criticise him, and now everyone else seems to be raving about him I'm just not seeing the hype. Maybe I'm just a contrary hipster! To me he has gone from an adequate Championship centre half, to a reasonably good Championship centre half. He's 25 so I don't see him improving too much beyond that. His strength has always been winning things in the air. He improved us tenfold in that aspect when he came back into the side last season and carried it into this season. He's decent with the ball at his feet but not as good as I suspect he thinks he is. He is also prone to daft lapses in concentration. If the rumours are true then we are as well getting shot because another performance like today from him would be very damaging.
  10. I thought the ‘keeper flapped at the Dobbie effort and got lucky. Hamilton’s headed effort was really poor and although the shot was straight at him I think the young lad at least deserves a bit of credit for being fast off his line and narrowing the angle. He was very clearly a complete rookie though yet we barely tested him until late on. One of our many glaring mistakes today.
  11. Yeah I mean if you’re an Alloa fan you’re going to be loving that today, and the resolve you showed bodes well for the rest of the season. You undeniably got a helping hand from our shower of imposters today though. Most of our posters are pretty balanced and give credit where it is due. I’m sure we were honest enough in the 3-3 game to admit that you blew us away until we absolutely stole a draw thanks to the genius of Dobbie. The win is all that matters from your point of view not how it came about. But for us there is a lot to mull over.
  12. Alloa did very well to take the chances that came their way, and deal with the setbacks of losing Macdonald and their two goal cushion. I was also very impressed with their “young team” who made a lot of noise throughout and had an impressive repertoire of songs compared with the usual 2 or 3 on repeat you get from most away supports. I don’t really give a shit about any of that to be honest though. As a Queens fan I’d much rather discuss the glaring deficiencies that were on show today. Venting on here is almost therapeutic after having to suffer through that today.
  13. We either need to sign two wingers pronto, or a change in formation is required. The front three of Dobbie, Murray and Oliver will never work if the only service they are going to get is the ball launched at them from distance. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Dobbie challenging for so many headers as he did today. Unsurprisingly he didn’t win many of them. Bringing Hamilton on was the right decision but shifting Dobbie wide to accommodate him is ridiculous. Hamilton needs to do more, but he is still the clear and obvious choice to partner Dobbie in a front two. It’s well established that a partner of that ilk brings the best out of Dobbie. With no natural wide men in the squad though we either need to sign some or give a 3-5-2 a shot IMO.
  14. The comeback would have papered over a lot of cracks if we’d held on to it. We were rank rotten for 75 minutes today and got exactly what we deserved. With a new goalkeeper and rookie defender in the side (not to mention Mercer going off) I suppose it might have been expected that we’d have a few wobbly moments at the back. I wasn’t expecting them every single time Alloa attacked though! Brownlie was genuinely like a 12th man for Alloa today. I’m hard pushed to think of a more inept defensive performance than his today. He treated it like a pre season friendly and if that’s his attitude then Thistle are more than welcome to take him off our hands early because on that showing he’ll help our cause in our relegation battle against them. As for the rest, where do you even start? Abdul Osman. Has all the physical attributes to be a cracking footballer. Sadly he is a lazy b*****d and probably the worst player I’ve ever seen for passing the buck onto his team mates. He was every bit as bad as Brownlie today and that is quite an achievement. Gary Oliver has stolen a wage off us all season, contributing the square root of f**k all. I don’t think he is necessarily a terrible player, but he has zero understanding with Dobbie and just doesn’t look like he wants to be here. Connor Murray just isn’t good enough. Disappears from the game for 20 minutes, does a couple of step-overs then disappears again. Dan Pybus should take up long distance running because he isn’t a footballer. Michael Paton. Give him his dues today was probably his best performance since rejoining. He still wasn’t very good though. Take Dobbie and Holt out that team today and I don’t even think they are League 1 quality.
  15. Lightweight and powder puff up front, non existent in the middle and downright shambolic at the back. High balls to Dobbie seems to be the strategy today, give me fucking strength.
  16. Goals conceded is a pretty good metric for assessing goalkeepers and that's a fact (or is it a stat?).
  17. This boy could be the next Virgil Van Dijk but it won’t change the fact that CB is probably the last position that needed strengthening. You have to hope/assume this means there are more to follow.
  18. So as expected we’ve signed a goalie who became surplus at Livi due to them pinching our superior goalkeeper, and an 18 year old CB we don’t need.
  19. Did someone not once post that Leighfield concedes an average of 2 goals a game? He might have to do for Saturday but I’d be very concerned if he was our long term solution. That said the Livi boy hardly sounds like an upgrade.
  20. I'm surprised you aren't calling for the manager's head then considering he has this squad of superstars at his disposal, yet we are languishing in mid-table after falling at the first hurdle in all of the cups. Definitely me that's overreacting though.
  21. Our midfield is rank despite the signing of several players to play there and Hamilton and Oliver have barely contributed anything. Kilday, Holt, El Bakhtaoui and McCrorie have all been good signings but even if you ignore the fact two of them have now gone it was a window of more “misses” than “hits”. All opinions of course but I don’t think fairly shocking is an unfair description of AJs business thus far.
  22. Do you think Alloa would agree to playing “rush goalies” for this one?
  23. We have absolutely no cause to feel aggrieved here, which probably makes it all the more frustrating. We’ve been dealt a massive blow but were powerless to do anything about it. The pros and cons of loan signings in a nutshell ultimately. After a fairly shocking summer transfer window it was hard to fathom January being worse, but it’s looking pretty grim just now.
