  1. To be fair (and you've written a lot of good things on the board the past year), would you expect clubs like my own to move en-masse, no matter how ambitious... when our minimum journey would be 80 miles return? I know that way of thinking perhaps sounds a bit simplistic, but look what's happened in the South of Scotland League the last few years with St Cuthbert and Wigtown.
  2. I doubt many would care when the junior game is run as badly as it is tbh. Just go on continuing to pretend it's thriving and KRR are a plucky East Dunbartonshire side though...
  3. Largs Thistle 2-4 Gartcairn Friendly, Saturday 15th July #theesel
  4. I was reading the Cumbernauld United programme from our Scottish Junior Cup match in 1996-97 - before my time really as in my defense I was 6/7 - they note the previous round (second round) they won at Armadale in front of 850. Were Armadale a decent side at the time? I imagine that would be a strong crowd for any junior side before the semi-finals now (even the last four) - I'm aware this post risks going into crowd comparisons again...
  5. At last month's West Region AGM there was a particular club official near the front - I'm not certain which club he belonged to - advocating a return to the Ayrshire and Central leagues...! Just one mindset thing you are up against for bringing change about. Though it must be remembered, league reconstruction was passed 49-12. Ambition doesn't just equate to playing as high a level as possible - look, for instance, at what third-tier St Roch's do off the park in local school through homework clubs, and Clydebank's work with local Syrian refugees - but methinks a few here just don't want to get rid of the term "junior". Clearly at the moment the South of Scotland League is an unsatisfactory route for the West sides however. Must have confused you for one of the Lowland-EOS-ers gogsy, my mistake.
  6. While gogsy is no fan of the juniors, it wasn't long ago Edinburgh City or East Kilbride would have been written off by some dafties here and elsewhere on Pie and Bovril. Yes, these clubs have had some good fortune to be where they are now, but don't write them off just because of "history"... you're quick to point out Rob Roy don't have the resources some top juniors do!
  7. Largs Thistle 0-0 Auchinleck Talbot West of Scotland Premier Division, Monday 12th June #theesel
  8. Lib Dem Alex Cole-Hamilton reported to the fiscal regarding his campaign spending - been long running - http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/15331885.LibDem_general_election_boss_reported_to_fiscal_over_Holyrood_spending/?ref=twtrec
  9. Nae chance o him winning in East Renfrewshire though. Still have major doubt about Corbyn (if he's so effective now, where wis he the last two years?) but something in me also sees Kezia Dugdale being replaced if Corbyn does very well (none of the Corbyn-ites in Holyrood are particularly good).
  10. SNP down to 2% across UK in tonight's Survation poll - though apparently the UK Greens are down to 1%. SNP are usually 4/5% nationally - worrying from the outset.
  11. Orkney and Shetland - the SNP's Miriam Brett is a very guid candidate, young, Shetland born and bred, a solid left-winger and has done very well so far, but I really think the SNP lost the chance tae win the isles in 2015 which Danus Skene, a poor candidate (who has sadly since died) who - according tae the Herald - got just 4% of the vote in one of the Shetland count areas in last years Holyrood election...
  12. Suppose being well funded (responsibly I add - they have a great set-up) and in a reasonable geographic position helps Kelty TBF, at least compared to the majority of sides beneath the Tay out with the seniors...
  13. Bad candidates may not be enough - the Lib Dems will surely win Edinburgh West back even with poor candidate Christine Jardine though.
  14. I know you and your right-wing buddies would love this - Angus must be a fight between the SNP and Tories given cooncil vote, NO vote, fairly close REMAIN vote and reduced majority in 2016? Any Angus-ers on this thread confirm? I'd also imagine East Lothian will be a third way between SNP, Labour and Tories (is the Labour candidate a Corbynite?)
